Can we please set up the window cleaner with Mark's accountant. I won't be able to sleep tonight thinking that he will have a massive tax bill to pay, as he's making so much money. The poor guy just can't spend it fast enough, and there's not any room left for him to buy more equipment in his 1 bed flat in paisley.

If the window cleaner buys a new piece of equipment every time someone takes the mickey on this forum, he's gonna need a bigger shed

Now that it seems the most "at risk" have had their first jag, apparently giving them most of the protection, does that mean "lockdown" is about to end?
  5. I think the traditional thing for "yorkshire boarding" is the gap the same width as the boards are thick - ie 22-25mm. Depending what the soil is like, you might not really need much of a floor, once the soil dries out it will harden up. I have a couple of sheds that are bare earth and they're fine. Just building another one at the minute, have dug it out and put down 40mm scalpings which can be got for a good price locally
  6. Make sure you ask for spa1000, typo in your first post (qty 2)
  7. You could try Scots Bearings, they have a branch in Irvine?
  8. A niche genre of music this: (btw, the bloke in the video is the clan cheif!!)
  9. The idea of running an engine just to charge batteries seems a bit odd unless you're really stuck. Just get some more batteries or a petrol saw. With a bit of farting around you could charge 36v (so 42v charge) off 12v dc. Maybe in a few years time butcher an old charger!
  10. Do you currently have a log shed? Ideally you want the logs in a drying shed for atleast year, so you'd really want a shed with multiple bays, and able to store a year or two's wood.
  11. Have a think about what other battery powered items you might want in the future. Blower, hedge cutter, strimmer, pole saw, small mower etc. Then have a look at the different brands, what machines they do, and also what batteries and chargers are available. Comparing prices of batteries, they all look much and such the same, when you consider the watt hours/number of cells. I went for husky, and the 535irx strimmer ended up being my most used strimmer in 2020
  12. 100t a year is a fair old pile to be burning, really you should think about machinery for handling the wood. Whether it's a concrete floor and a tractor/jcb with a front bucket, or a system of crates/cages and pallet forks.
  13. Tell her if she catches her shin with it she will know about it for the next 2 weeks. And if she blunts it on a stone she has to sharpen it!
  14. Nice machine, just out of interest what sort of stuff do you store in the filing cabinets? I didn't think they would be great out in the rain?
  15. As someone who's used to drafty cottages and the like, I would've thought a small well insulated space like that would be very easy to heat?! Do you heat the main house with wood - do you already have a supply of logs & woodshed?
  16. From what I've read, it's only a straight fit on the older model honda gx engines https://pressurewashingresource.com/community/t/electric-start-on-gx390/10793
  17. The current engine is stamped QXQ4 which I think from google is a 1" drive shaft
  18. I would love a wee diesel, but can't see many about that would be a good alternative for a Honda GX390 power wise, about 12/13hp? This is on a farmi wp36 firewood processor. The current Honda gx390 runs great, and hasn't done much work, but I really need an electric start now, and it seems you can't easily convert these newer models to starter motor.
  19. Whilst I'm a great believer in "you get what you pay for", does anyone use a Loncin or Lifan honda clone engine? Don't know if there is much between the 2 brands? How do they hold out to years of use (and abuse!) Genuine honda gx390 with electric start looks about £1k, maybe £500 for a Loncin or Lifan time you included delivery and vat.
  20. If your name's not on the list, you're not coming in! Usual small court news of a fight https://www.ross-shirejournal.co.uk/news/wester-ross-hotel-worker-sentenced-for-assault-on-two-sisters-225857/ The accused was told to come to court, but wasn't allowed in the building "I mean no criticism of the door security staff but Mr Stewart was waiting outside for three hours before being sent home after a brief respite inside." Security staff are provided with a daily list of people they can permit entry but occasionally people who have been ordered to appear personally are not on it." 120 mile round trip for the guy too!
  21. Saw this in the news a few days ago, a large hotel burnt down 3 years ago, 2 guests killed. Turns out an employee cleaned out one of the fires and put the ash in the cupboard Cameron House: Fire caused by ash left in cupboard WWW.BBC.CO.UK Two people died in the blaze at the Cameron House hotel in West Dunbartonshire three years ago.
  22. Sometimes I think you're best not bringing money in to it, is there anything you can swap him for, or do him a favour? I one bought some timber off a small landowner for 4 bottles of whisky!
  23. What about an old wheelbarrow with the skip removed, and carry them sideways? Or an arb trolley/cart (not so good for going in the car) https://www.tcfengineering.co.uk/brash-cart.html https://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products/stein-arbor-trolley-with-solid-wheels/?gclid=CjwKCAiAr6-ABhAfEiwADO4sfSrTJzkLiFe2qStoATZwzOE4j4sO5a0KaYOB08eVrQlcc8IaVDHpTBoCX0MQAvD_BwE
  24. Well after 6 hard years the stove fan motor burnt out. New motor (and generator!) £7.60, 5 min job to swap over. In the meantime I bought another fan, dual head 8 blade job Dual Head Fireplace 8 Blade Heat Powered Stove Fan komin Log Wood Burner Eco Friendly Quiet Fan Home Efficient Heat Distribution|Fireplace Parts| - AliExpress WWW.ALIEXPRESS.COM Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com So now got all 3 spinning away on top of the stove!
  25. If I was being cynical I would say register the land as a croft, put a couple sheep in there, get a grant to build a huge shed/fences/roads, get planning permission for a croft house (as you need to tend the sheep) then in 10yrs time decroft/sell the house and get permission to build a croft house (as you need to tend the sheep) etc etc
