  1. That's a very good point. I've recently done a very basic survey of just such a site. The church warden is a very good friend of mine, so it was a favour. The graveyard is dominated by 20+ mature lime trees complete with large diameter deadwood and white rot fungi sprinkled in. There's no way the church has enough money to have the level of work done needed, but I'm doing the deadwooding for free.
  2. Nice one for hopping to the top, leg of steel!
  3. Mmm...yum yums! Cheers!
  4. Just had a gander at the cinch, looks awesome!
  5. Thanks everyone.
  6. Thanks for answering Daniel. As you say it's hard to tell sometimes from a video. Time lapse videos work well and can often show the work in the clearest way. You've been working with trees a lot longer than me and I guess we have different methods and requirements to your side of the pond sometimes. I haven't read the ANSI standards for tree work, it would be interesting to compare to the British standards. Keep posting videos Dan! Always enjoy them.
  7. Thanks Paul, I had a look at the directory and thought it might be, but good to get an experienced eye. Much appreciated.
  8. Sorry about poor quality pic, I can take more. This was 2 metres up on the main stem of a Tilia x europaea, that is being outcompeted by it's neighbours and has a poor looking crown. Also, the base of the main stem appears to have had a large amount of bark removed below where this fungus was. Like I said, will get more pics, but was in a bit of rush as it was one of about 20 very mature limes in a church yard that I had a first glance at...hello to a week of deadwooding, crown lifting and epicormic-tasticness! Thanks all.
  9. Enjoy the hammocking!
  10. Mmm...a few good points made there Ian. Also I was wondering why the very top of the crown wasn't touched? I'd have thought that's the best place to start working on the tree. It looked a little bit lions-tailed to me. Maybe my inexperienced eye is mistaken. Still, client happy so all's cool
  11. Thanks Al. It was a pleasure working for you.
  12. Doh! I'm being dense again!
  13. I'm always in a strange work position!
  14. Nice one. Have you gone back to the prussik James?
  15. Nice one mate.
  16. It's a fair point, but I moved from a klem to a HC within 4 months of starting to climb, no problems. Still haven't quite decided what hitch I like. Using a TK at the moment. If I ever get to the stage where I do loads of climbing, the Spiderjack is top of my wishlist!

    Own Up!?!

Am loving the rip! C'mon, lets go easy on them...the ladder wouldn't go any higher!
  18. No problem. Cheers Al.
  19. Both to be honest. With all the red-tape we have here, you have all the experience in the world, but without the bit of paper for the HSE you won't get far probably. But of course experience is far more important. You only get good at something by doing it lots! That applies to many things!

    Public

Serves him right. That's what you get for trying it on.
  21. Much appreciated Jim.
  22. Bit of a bump I know. All info still relevant apart from dates, am available immediately. Willing to travel up to 100 miles round trip if necessary. Cheers
  23. The only thing that's not cool about it is trying to get work when your bank balance is worrying low!
  24. Cool. Yeah, mobile's probably more reliable than email.
