  1. I live around the corner from this street Lime, and as I was walking past it today I noticed a bracket fungus that had been at the base of the main stem was lying on the floor next to the tree. I'm not too hot on fungi ident, I thought it might be a type of phellinus but I honestly have no idea. The tree doesn't look great, but it's out in leaf. Was just wondering if I should report what I've seen to the TO? Or is it nothing to be concerned about? Just after some opinions. Here's some pics.
  2. Yeah I use it for felling every day! Definite end of derail. Felco. Felco. Felco...although I use Spear and Jackson
  3. Oi you, get back to snedding those pegs off!
  4. Felco.
  5. I felt for you lads today, shifting the timber in this heat. It was toasty here in Suffolk.
  6. Nice one!
  7. Purely as a tribute to Andy Collins...fell it!
  8. SIP Progress Type A's.

    Capel

Just wanted to say cheers very much to Steve Bullman, Andy Collins and the rest of the Arbtalk gang who were at Capel yesterday for a warm welcome and a good laugh.
  10. If you're concerned, get someone in to have a good look at it. They might suggest a reduction. I'm not expert enough to tell you what's best from the photos.
  11. Hi Ian, haven't had a chance to get on Arbtalk much. Didn't get email.

  12. Not hijacking the thread, but I was thinking of doing the same at Capel. Or I might just go all out for the 395xp! Sorry, was a bit of a hijack.
  13. Keep trying mate, you'll get there.
  14. Cheers Chris. Looking forwards to dropping the big conny's next week.
  15. Thanks very much for the kind words Ian. And it's true about the haribo, a handful of jelly rings and I'm anybody's!
  16. Hi all, My name's Neil Frost, and I'm available for groundie work in Suffolk. Have NPTC 30, 31, 38 and 39. I can climb, have done some reductions, deadwooding and dismantling, but am not up to commercial pace yet. Have used chippers and had brief intro to rigging. Still a big green around the gills but am a hard worker who'll just get on with it and have a laugh as I'm doing it. Got own kit, saws and PPE. References and day rate available via PM and I'm available after the 15th, which is also same day as Capel show so hopefully I'll meet a few fellow arbtalkers down there. Only day after that I'm not free is 19th, apart from that it's all good. Will travel but have to be home every night to relieve the missus from babysitting duty! Thanks for reading.
  17. Congrats to you and your good lady. We we're going to call our little 'un Isabella, but we had a Harry instead!
  18. Horse Chestnut
  19. Schwabisch?
  20. Well I went for the red one, brass bush. I didn't go for the rapide, because I'm not very...rapide. Sorry, I'm sure someone else will give a sensible answer.
  21. I'd also definitely be up for a wander round, what a cracking place.
  22. Well I'm a newbie climber, been going about 6 months now. Tried out my new hitchclimber today after having used prussik loops, and although it's going to take me a little while to get used to, in the long run it's going to be so much more quicker. Branch walking it was more responsive, although my pace is nowhere near quick enough, it did seem a better system. I'd recommend giving it a go if you want to move on from prussiks, I've been offered a go on a spiderjack but I don't trust myself enough for that yet!
