  1. Cheers guys. Yeah, I'm trying to keep safety in the forefront of my brain. Left/right hand cutters, depth gauge, rivets, tie straps, drive links, guard links. I think it's all in there somewhere!
  2. Hi all. Got my CS30 on Monday, and 31 on Friday. Spent to day practicing getting those gobs perfect. Split levels and dog tooths going ok, hope I pass as I can't wait to get up in the tree again! Been felling Scots Pine for the last few weeks, would be nice to do some broadleaves and not come home coated in a layer of sap!
  3. Great idea. It'll be really helpful for my course, perhaps it's a good idea to whack the botanical names on as well. Went to see the 114ft tall London Plane (Platanus x hispanica ) in Ely last Friday. Amazing tree. Wish I'd taken the camera though!
  4. I use Roundup Pro Biactive 360 for the initial knocking off. As a barrier/suppression weedkiller on gravel I use Pistol. Both very effective, but not cheap and tickets required.
  5. The 'Up' needs to point away from you. Try it on the ground first.
  6. They should create a new CS unit for it. Accessing Hot Beverages using a Rope in a Tree!
  7. Good one Hama. Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I'm loving the course, just need a more practice on my felling. Had a very brief intro to climbing, it was fantastic. Cannot wait to get going.
  8. Hi Steve, Sorry for slow response, been out felling today. I'm from Ipswich. You're local too I guess.
  9. Hi everyone. Not sure if it's the right forum, but just wanted to say hi and what an informative and helpful forum this is. I'm just coming up to 2 weeks of my 10 week course at Otley, hoping to get my 30, 31, 38 and 39, and the level 2 craftsmans cert, it's a great course and a great career I'm hoping to get into. Just wish I'd started earlier, but I'm raring to go and eager to learn. Looking forwards to chatting and hopefully contributing my two-pence worth's on here. Cheers.
