  1. Considered a reduction rather than pollard?
  2. Yes, yes and yes again! I'll be up for it. If want a hand setting up mate just ask.
  3. Is that the one that starts in October? I'm very keen to do that one.
  4. Mate I think what you're doing is totally professional and spot on. It's really hard when things are quiet and we earn our living from the trees, but I'd much rather go to sleep with a clear conscience. At the end of the day, if the customer is adamant and I know that they'll have the work done anyway, even after I've given my advice, then I'll do it, if only to make sure it's done properly. Fair play for sticking to your guns.
  5. Yer right there mate, gaff-out central!
  6. Well I was working today, but as it was my first day back subbing after a nice 3 week break I thought I'd share my day! No rain, lovely. Scrambled to top of a yew to cut up and pull out a willow that had fallen on it, then chogged down a willow pollard that had died, and finished off with spiking up and taking down a dead elm. 3 weeks I had to sharpen my spikes, knew I'd forgotten something!
  7. Thanks, I think it'll catch on!

  8. I get the feeling it was the latter. We've all had it, haven't we? Can you please take down my massive tree and not disturb the daffs I've planted around the base!
  9. Hi Al, I took down a wee birch on friday and it bled like a stuck pig!
  10. That's what I'm doing, born and raised in Suffolk!
  11. Well, without going too far off topic, I did my A levels and a degree, and after a lot of different jobs I ended up in trees! The rainy days suck, but then you'll get a nice sunny breezy day in a great location and it'll put a smile on your face! (Although I haven't had many!)
  12. Boom! I think that's a bullseye for Mr Bullman. I'd completely forgotten the old fraxinifolia!
  13. Yeah I did notice a light shower or two as I looked out of the conservatory with my feet up and book in hand! Only joking, it's miserable getting soaked whilst working.
  14. Definitely agree on the wet legs! I just use a cheap regatta jacket and generally try to avoid the rain! I'm so happy I'm having a break right now!
  15. Cool. thanks for that. The more knowledge the better.
  16. The bark is also very much like Fraxinus Americana.
  17. Anyone need a hand next Thursday or Friday, 3rd/4th? Freelance groundie/2nd climber with own kit and saws. Couple years under my belt. Will travel up to an hour or so from Ipswich, so thats most of Suffolk, north Essex, south Norfolk. Just enjoying some time off with the family before going back to work with a guy I regularly sub for, need to get match fit again! Drop me a PM if I can help. Cheers Neil Frost
  18. Never had trouble with my OP gripping on xtc, was using 10mm though, not 8. If anything, mine gripped too much. Try different hitch combos and fiddle with it, and give it time to bed in. Using 8mm beeline VT on yale blue tongue and it's just right, tends easily and grips every time.
  19. I'm still in the vehicle I started in, ford focus estate, boo-yah! But then I only subby so it's ok! One day I'll truck myself up, or else just blow woodchip through the sunroof! Good times!
  20. Just Capel so far, will try to make it to the others!
  21. Thanks mate, it feels just as nice on the head as it does in the hand!
