  1. The "salesman" bullsh@*er in the vid obviously have not used a sharp and tuned saw in his life. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for but as humans we are always looking for a bargain. Sadly sometimes a bargain can work out expensive. If the bar & chain are genuine, you havent lost out. If it cuts all your winter fuel you still havent lost out. When you need to get a part, the fun may begin:sneaky2: Until that day comes, happy/safe cutting Would I buy one, naaa. Not even after watching the vid
  2. Tell them to leave the trees for the birds, hang some feeders on there both sides. Keep out of it, money you earn wont be worth the hassle, got the T-shirt:thumbdown:
  3. We all use them, some last years and are never looked at (thats sods law), some are replaced when their machines are serviced and some have to be replaced when they fail. How long does your plug last & when do you replace? I always use NGK mainly because they were much more reliable than Bosch & Champion in our race bikes, even though the plugs were different they did the same thing..... produce a spark.
  4. as they say "seen that one coming"
  5. I made up a couple of them years ago, worked really well:thumbup1: now I stick with the squirrel, he's a hard little bast**rd [/img]
  6. Great service & highly recommended, very helpful and delivered next day. Very happy, thanks guys:thumbup:
  7. Fungus in forestry got the FC all worried about access & it spreading:confused1: Now this Officials burn 100,000 trees to prevent spread of killer ash tree disease as 20 woodlands are found to be infected | Mail Online Some will make, some will loose but nature will be the biggest looser
  8. dont turn the wheel so far:biggrin:
  9. Were they or are they made in Canada? remember them years ago if so and have lasted the test of time sort of thing. Maybe we are too easy to push aside anything that dont start with a H or S
  10. go for them, you cant go wrong...... and better than ebay!! at least you know who is selling them
  11. Dont worry Rick, loads swear by them, you maybe one of the lucky ones. I dont know if its me or not but the older saws seem much better than the new ones for reliability. New saws vibrate less but I dont know what's worse..... dying from a hear attack from frustration or havning VWF, you cant win. Some blame the crap petrol for saw trouble, we didnt seem to get that years ago. But there again it does not effect every user?? Aspen is the way to go for trouble free fuel, the extra you pay saves on wasted fuel you have to tip out. swings & roundabouts, not all agree but thats life
  12. I was after a hedge cutter years ago, hired a Stihl which did the job but the bar length was too short, next job I went to another dealer who said "I use a Kawasaki myself, never let me down easy to start and a long bar" So I had a look, liked it and bought it. Now 20 years later it still starts and runs just as well, it has been looked after not abused besides trying to eat through branches that would be better sawn but it still cuts. The only thing that needing looking at was the pull starter got a little stiff but undone the 3 screws took it off and cleaned it, like new again. Yes I would recommend Kawasaki going by my own experiences The japs make fast bikes, the Swiss quality and the Germans make Stihl Think my heart is with the first two, every Stihl I had breaks down:blushing:
  13. Then full wrap handles look great, I could have done with them when I was younger & fit enough to swing around a big red saw:thumbup1:
  14. 'Those bastards bombed me Granny in the war!' Oz, AWP, 1983 nice one Mark:lol: But I bet your a Stihl fan I'm still drooling over the slim line black ones with built in spikes:thumbup:
  15. flectarn (maybe spelt wrong) I have found best so far, they breath and you dont end up wetter sweating than you would without them. Its not the rain but constant wet grass/brush and exerting so much energy just to stay upright that make you sweat like a pig in anything 100% waterproof, these flectarn are gortex with built in bracers and yes they are ex-arm but very good or I would have thrown them years ago. Look here it comes with jacket on this site but sure you will find them on their own Flecktarn Goretex Suit good luck, stay dry
  16. Your going to love this if only for the other links:thumbup1: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7QPak4Qw88&feature=colike]Homemade Firewood Processor Detroit Diesel Powered - YouTube[/ame]
  17. We missed the wind in Wales but I knew of some who drove up there & made loads£££££, I was a fool and stayed home keeping regulars happy:confused1: you live and learn. I dont think it lead to present H&S, all that was on the cards and IMHO is why we have no heavy industry in this country,(life is cheap in China) that and maggy wanting to kill the big unions...... thats another long story
  18. "Been told it's all sold, so someone's bought it and not through Fleabay or Gumtree." How do they know??? if its word of mouth and just someone talking through their arse, pass the info onto the police let them follow it up. Hope you either get them back or the money to cover it but you probably wont. They had the balls to take them so will probably try to sell them to anyone working on the side of the road sort of thing. When you get replacements, engrave them ALL in hard to reach places. Wont stop them but they cant say its their then either!!
  19. Yer right, but a quick glance with your bad eye may get your attention chainsaws | eBay looks like it has a throtle lock to save your poor aching finger when your hard at it on a long cut:sneaky2: if the saw lasts long enough:lol: ps; and you get Nectar points now
  20. Bit late seeing this but we all done work for friends of friends, they all want it done cheap and the more money they have the less they want to pay you. £25 wouldnt cover wear & tare, you hit some muck & they chain is blunk? Clothing, boots etc, if this guy thinks he is paying a fair price at £25 let him do it himself. One way to get your money, make him but the fuel and only use Aspen! tell him you need chain oil too and get the most expensive you can (Because your saws always have the best) Get yourself some experience with some good cutters before you go doing a job like this, you cant expect a fortune you havent been around long enough like the guys on here. My first was was £2 take home a week but that was a while ago. Although this may seem a nice job to do, you will realise later in life that telling him to stuff it, may have been the way to go. You will not get other jobs from this and if you do they will all want it done for next to nothing. Good luck making your fortune, if you find the short cut please post it here we all want to know
  21. Many years ago, too many to even think about and spoil the weekend reminiscing. I was sponsored by Century oils, they did a good two stroke oil with a very red dye. All I ever seen it in was a gallon can dropped off at my door whenever I was running out. My Husqvarna enduro bike was run at 40:1 and never ever had any trouble with it, I used it at 50:1 in all my saws too at the time, same results all worked perfect under al conditions. Havent seen Century around for years but maybe they are still out there, may even be under another brand? ps; the red dye you couldnt miss & it smelt good so probably synthetic or semi??
  22. Great saw, money spent on servicing that would be money well spent. Have a word with Spud:thumbup: it will be like a new saw
  23. What oil have you been using regular for the last few years, do you stick with one brand or use whatever is convenient at the time. What ratio do you use and why I had a good deal on Husqvarna oil a long time ago and have it also Stihl, both are very good. Aspen 2 is ready mixed and noticed it burns much cleaner (just look down the plug hole for yourself) So what you been burning
  24. Good advice Marc & Minotaur:thumbup1: cover your arse, I know from experience and how fast the law responds to a phone call when wildlife is concerned. Get robbed and thats another story its like they are all on holiday
  25. I suppose it depends on the type of filter too. In this throw away world they make more money out of us if it has to be replaced regular. They dont make um like they used to:sneaky2:
