  1. I seen this one on ebay, smaller but if your not into big stuff..... Alaskan Saw Mill | eBay As your close to the exhaust all the time I would seriously consider using Aspen fuel, if the vibrations dont kill you the fumes of petrol/oil will good luck
  2. misty rain all day, just when we get a day of decent weather and a chance of drying out it rains again. oh well, mother nature must be telling us something
  3. the link works but pictures dont open? colour of the fake saw caught my eye first but looking at the over saw its a load of crap. Even if you did pay you can still get your money back with paypal presume you paid with that, just as well you didnt rush & pay as soon as it ended like I often do :-( Good luck on getting a real saw
  4. Think the boss is a greedy B........
  5. I was wondering after seeing saw prices on a USA site just how much they are taking home at the end of the week. With programs like axmen they always say if they dont make a load they go bust, like sending out 20 lorry loads a week and having to make 21 to survive The tools seem to be similar in dollars to our UK pounds, even if you buy a magazine here published in the states it can have $3.99 on the cover and we are charged £3.99:confused1: or is that just crafty marketing and us being robbed again. fuel over there is so cheap yet they moan about it, on this we really are robbed:sneaky2: in Oz the food seemed very cheap, public transport very good and very cheap, no idea what people earn there. Any ideas And to round off here is a good one for you....... Enjoy
  6. in the pole how can 18 people not know or not care???? surely if you use a saw you would have used both types and have a preference, to say you dont know or care is just BS to me. The new type is quicker granted, (when new) after its worn in things go wrong. The old type can be fiddly to undo, especially with gloves but only had one ever leak fuel and replaced the O ring and as good as new (on a saw I purchased in 1989) that is good going, on the same saw the oil filler cap split but dont know how as it wasnt used for a while and wondered if the plastic in contact with oil for so many years effected it? dont know on that & the first one I had to replace on any saw.
  7. Yes thats it Dave Stubby, exactly
  8. Its the stuff that looks like slush thanks for link Dave
  9. Paslode are great tools I use 1st & 2nd fix not regular these days but often. Trouble we get then is cartridge part used still plenty of gas in it but plays up, put that down to the bladder inside. And gas being out of date is another problem especially if not used regular, I keep two gas cans on the go when its cold one in my pocket the other in the gun and change them around. plenty of out of date cans on ebay you take your chance. Paslode are out to make money and a long life gas can would cost them millions (look how many are part used and disposed of on any building site) Easy guns to service and keep clean, they last years
  10. HaHA, couldnt be simpler, a good drawing explains a thousand words
  11. Pretty good from wedging your phone, I like it
  12. Seen this yesterday and thought it was snow:confused1: from a distance It was like wall paper paste or frogs spawn without the embryo Any ideas, two coins there for scale not as an offering to the woodland Fae [/img]
  13. dont tell them too much & hang yourself, it was a pothole thats enough and get them pictures quickly because they will repair it faster than you think
  14. Drift all the way, battery last longer and dont stand out like it will catch on every obstacle like the gopro does. The new Drift is smaller, I have the Drift Stealth and been very pleased, it fits nice against the helmet but comes with a range of fitting options. It dont need a case to be waterproof like the gopro but I am not knocking them, both good top of the range it's down to what you feel is right for you. Just look at how much a gopro sticks out and looks vulnerable, guess it's swings and roundabouts but do check before you spend. ps; nice vid Matt, good quality pic, like I said swings & roundabouts ;-)
  15. go back to the pothole before they conveniently fill it in, take plenty of pictures and use something to scale it like a ruler or similar, pictures dont lie (or so they say but I seen some dodgy looking ones) The council are covered I had to claim once, normally I wouldnt have bothered but had to, good luck.
  16. Just done a quick search and found a "real" pair of hedging mitts, similar to mine but my stitching is neater & mine are pigskin from what I remember. They will last a life time, you can use a bill hook with them but forget trying to use a chain saw they are just too thick. Hedging Mitt | Bradleys Leather Tannery | Buy Online you would probably find them in farmers store/market but look around
  17. good old hedging mitts, had mine years & never had a thorn but they are hard and need working to get them supple. An old farmer said to soak them in olive oil from new so done that, they were still stiff for a while but great for the last 20 years (not used all the time but there when needed)
  18. safe working practice comes from experience & training, one is no good without the other so approach chainsaws with respect, they are great tools (or toys) and cut bone/flesh just as easy as wood. Wear all the safety stuff, look after your ears too because plenty of seasoned users work without ear protection and think nothing is wrong. Deafness creeks on slowly and in later years you will all pay the price. Be safe, be sensible and enjoy your work. When your tired stop, thats when things go wrong. Take care & enjoy
  19. Good man, here in the UK we are so wrapped up with H&S I cant see anyone risking it
  20. mine runs, makes a nice sound and does the job, but the top tuner on here is right :-) they got it wrong. I am going back to the good old trusted 2 stroke asap the sound of a well tuned and proper revving 2 stroke is music to your ears
  21. I stuck with a Willans T22 good harness comfy good padding & solid construction, last years (mine has but dont climb much these days) Also it dont melt if exposed to heat by accident like some would (just in case your welding etc lol)
  22. if your thinking "relatively small price" I think you can forget a Husky or Stihl dealer, always cheap stuff on evil bay. your not going to get something for nothing so spend decent money on a decent saw & in the long run it will cost less. Spud would be first stop as recommended
  23. Some are exactly the same machines, like Clarke & Faithful, all made in the same place with a different name on it. Have a look around you will see yourself. They all work, cheap ones may have a little play but some expensive ones can also! I seen an auto feed machine at a local dealers that was burning every time, wrecked everyones chains but of course they would go back to have it resharpened! With care a cheap one would work & last, but you probably get what you pay for. Lidl has done them in the past for £19.95 and they work, subscribe to their news letter and keep an eye out
