  1. Stihl reps, absolutely bril midnight in a forest this year has been the worse for Midges, must be the warm/damp weather, they never bothered me in the past but this year!!!!! why midnight... haha, leave that to your dirty minds
  2. Believe it or not, I had a few days away in spring and must have been the only sunny time, my plant in a pot just dried up and all leaves are dead. I just hope the whole plant is not lost. Since then all it has done is rain rain & more bloody rain
  3. the more you get, the more you need I dont get enough............ that goes for sleep too
  4. Kate could help me out of my harness any day:001_tt2: even if I am too old
  5. I used to love my 16g, used it more than 12g but all gone now. Sold them years ago just when things were starting to get tighter. Have fun all you shooters out there
  6. 5"? wish I had an extra 5"
  7. Some great replies, thanks for the smiles & cheering me up on a wet night :-) some good pictures too, a great response in a short time.
  8. I got the round iron it fitted the stove better but square is just as good. They hold the heat so makes cooking easy, if you like BBQ you'll love these irons, built to last a life time.. Have fun
  9. Thin with White Spirit like it says on the tin, no need to use thinners just give it a very good mix and it will spray ok but the key is in the mixing. If you skimp on that it will be like Birds custard on a bad day. I used it years ago with the waxoil sprayer, it was ok but hard work compared to the next time when I used a compressor.... its the difference between a DIY job and a pro job:thumbup1: plus you wont need to thin as much. Good luck ps; with that amount of thinners sprayed all over the place you may end up with a fire risk (depending where your doing it) but you wouldnt be able to start it for a while. Take care:thumbup:
  10. Funny, I am the opposite and sweat like a pig in anything other than cotton shirts. The man made fibre ones do nothing for me and I cook from within, must be hot blooded
  11. where is XL:confused1: ok so I should have read "Ladies" sizes at the beginning
  12. Haix protector pro's, never had any problems and very comfortable. I would wait for the shows and have a good look around, chat with folks that know but bare in mind they are selling them so may try to fill you full of B S if they make more money on one brand than another. You hold the cash
  13. Just thought I would share with you a stove I bought a couple of weeks ago after seeing one in action that my friend has and uses all summer when she has her stalls at music festivals and lives in her bell tent (some get all the luck) No she does not sell these stoves & No I have no financial gain from recommending this, it's out of the goodness of my heart This stove uses very few sticks and produces very little smoke so is one of the greenest cooking stoves around. Called a Rocket Stove and sold by StoveTec Greenfire Wood & Charcoal Combination Rocket Stove | Rocket stove cookers | Wild Stoves Not a stove to put in your backpack (unless your a giant) but if you enjoy days out with the kids and the great out doors & just load up the wheels and head for the hills then this maybe worth looking at:thumbup1: Or of course you could use it while working if you have enough time to site down & make a brew:lol: I use this with mine & love making waffles (call them what you like but waffles are closest I think) Round Pie Iron - Rome Outdoor Cookware UK If anyone wants to know more just pm me, but no requests for weather forcasts, Wales is always wet:001_tt2: Enjoy your summer wherever you are
  14. With the right tools and know how, anything is possible:thumbup: Like your new avatar pic Spud, looks like a little screamer:001_tt2:
  15. its a fact a busy person gets to do more in their spare time than someone who has all the time in the world. I always had hobbies, far too many but one has to keep going & them little grey cells active:001_tt2: Ornithology takes up every second as does family. Then there is always Axmen to watch on telly but it only leaves me asking so many more questions at the end of the program like why or how do they live so long to start shaving:confused1: Not into any ball games and think a total waste of time and energy but have had the odd session of pocket billiards
  16. Interesting thread, and a sure sign that government (hidden agenda) of splitting people and having them arguing between themselves while the likes of cameron & cronies carry on making their plans to wreck our country even more, but enough of that I'm not into politics:blushing: From my own past experience (and this is not saying this guy does not like work or he wouldnt have turned up the second day after being in the woods all on his tod) Years ago I was approached to take on two boys, I say boys but they were between 18 & 30! the 30 year old was a coach driver who wanted a change of job he said which obviously was not true at the time or he wouldnt have been on the scheme at the time. At least this older person did have more "life skills" than the younger boys but to be honest he was a total liability and was found the day before he jacked it all in, hanging from a ladder upside down when his leg went between the rungs 12 foot from the ground and he was stuck.... upside down. Stop chuckling to yourself, iy shook him up enough to finish and he was supposed to be ex paratrooper:lol: Another younger boy just didnt have any go at all and would stand watching you struggle, he had to go after he was too dangerous to work with, another boy 20 yo just didnt turn up all week, first day he said he couldnt get up:sneaky2: second day I rang the place that sent them and they told me they had similar trouble with him, yer right nice one why didnt you say & save my time. Then I had one boy who the very first week we had an hell of a job and worked flat out all week, thinking this would sort him out and he stayed with me for 5 years, great worker:thumbup1: and one you could rely on. So not all are bad eggs and I think you soon know the good from the bad, but that was many years ago when H&S = common sense not a piece of paper saying you done a few days course and now qualified, them far off days apprenticeships were 5 years or was it 4 years. I have too many grey hairs to remember that far back. Unions fought for rights, people had a conscience, fuel was less than 30p a gallon:thumbup: crisps has salt in a little blue bag and the only takeaways were the local chips shop, no mac donnalds etc and almost every kid was a normal size. There was going to be a moral to all this but I got carried away and forgot Everyone deserves a chance, it's what you do with that chance is what makes a difference to your next 40 years.
  17. strange as this maybe, if you trap one it is illegal to let it go alive!
  18. dont cut on a sunday morning and you will be ok:lol: some people have all the cheek and make a fuss, they are the bas**ds that have a bbq and piss up until 3am. cut your wood and if he moans stuff the bar up his a*** sorry, a bad day:001_tt2:
  19. [Ventilation is the key] yes plenty of fresh air flowing is a must, although it wont stop tools rusting but will help with condensation. I suppose leaving the door open in the day is not a good idea unless your working there
  20. Yes I agree with this, all you need is some elbow grease, Time and some patients. You already started the route of spending/throwing money on it, never use a saw unless you know its clean & stone/grit free (we all learned that one a long time ago) I was told many years ago buy an old saw mill guy that tungsten blades stay blunt longer:sneaky2: wise words.
  21. WOW, what can I say Kim, great work
  22. it sounds just as you say exhaust not having a clear flow away sort of thing BUT and think before you modify anything. These are professional tools and have been designed to work, not a DIY saw to cut the odd branch & be put away, they are made to work or so we are lead to believe. If this was a car it would HAVE to be recalled and I do think it is a big safety issue. The so called powers that be make sure saws have breaks, try woking with an old saw pre break and you would be prosecuted if something went wrong. Why do we british just put up with sub standard workmanship? I would go for the jugular and get in touch with Stihl direct, your dealer will have you back & fore all summer trying to sort it, a new saw that is fit for the job is what you should be getting, after all thats what you paid for. Bit of a rant but the big guys are fast enough telling us how good they are and taking the money.
  23. they never had a problem on axmen:lol: realistically, every single tree is different, never take for granted it will behave the same as the last one.
  24. I know this sounds a bit bias but I never heard or seen it on a Husky, ringed plenty of big stuff with a big Husky and saws are always fine. Must admit that was a few years ago when there was more metal than plastic used in saw construction. god that makes me old!! It sounds a Stihl problem, I tried both and always go towards the red ones with H on :-) hard habits and all that........... Hope the problem is sorted and that break is never needed !
  25. To most, no I would say all on here! honesty is the best, and we have a conscience so we can sleep at night even if we are poor. So many crooks out there doing cheap jobs that often cost twice as much but they get the work because they lie & have the gift of the gab, dump the cuttings in the nearest gateway or quiet lane and off with the money:sneaky2: Some customers even feel bullied into saying YES, buy them folk who creep around taking your tools & anything else that is not bolted down:confused1: on no, they take that too:laugh1: Stick with what your head tells you:thumbup1:
