  1. you shud be charging £100 per day as a minimum me tinks.
  2. £350 please
  3. read and understood, sound advice thanks.
  4. Cheers one and all. The chestnut in my opinion cud be reduced and made safe and left to stand but the customer wants it on the ground regardless !
  5. Went to price up felling/dismantling a tall Birch and a large old Chestnut which are both now dead but have TPO's on them, so is it a case of inform the tree officer of my intentions and do they simply take my word for it that they are indeed dead or do i simply carry on without any need to contact the council/tree officer ? Tanks in advance
  6. I know i shouldn't say this but the Echo top handed doubles as an excellent small ground saw for snedding up and felling smaller stuff !
  7. I take it you do not have to retune a saw once the spark screen is removed ?
  8. MS201T chain catcher is a heavier grade alloy than the weak/springy MS200T version, the 201T will fit the 200T though as i have done it, just sayin'.
  9. I agree with yew, 100%
  10. More threads/posts getting deleted or over moderated is my guess as i missed out on the fun too. No problem with sensible moderating but it would be nice if the reason for moderating was noted withing the moderated post. It's funny who gets moderated and who does not.
  11. I don't really care what brand a saw is, Stihl, Husky, Echo, Dolmar, Oleo Mac, Pioneer, etc. I am more interested in particular models that i know to be good and well proven and that is why i choose run Husky, Stihl and Echo as they all make some crap models and they all make some good models. I pick and choose and i'm generally happy with what i get, no brand snobbery here. I hope Sawtroll does not try any other brands as he may well stop moaning and attention seeking, and i do like to see him moan.
  12. yep this is a ballache when it happens, once your aware of the potential for this to happen you can usually avoid it. Mt 360TES is an amazing saw.
  13. schhhhhh he's out ta make some ££££ Having said that i had a customer who asked me to dismantle a tree very close to LV but i told them WPD would prolly arrange to do it FOC but they wanted to pay me to do it regardless !
  14. The bridge wood have lasted longer if i hadn't of fitted a mailon rapide which accelerated it's demise.
  15. looking forward to it meself, no tree or decs up yet but it'll hapen soon enuf. Missus said 'wot ya want fer yer combined berday and christmas prezzie?' so it looks loike i'm getting a pulley block! Oh and seeing as we're staying here and not goin up ta norf Devon or Eire we intend on boozing it up with all the villagers at ours and theirs and the local pub. Gotta stay away from mudder in laws in case i make a pass at her again when i'm full o' Guinness.
  16. retired my Austria 2 earlier this year as it failed LOLER as the bridge was extremely worn and non replacable, had alot of use over 6 years. Hangs in the garage like trophy stag antlers now! Climbing on a Harkie now and i love it but the Austria had a quicker/easier to use leg loops set up.
  17. 5 of ye up there now waiting for 'them' to return ? God help 'them' cos no one else will:thumbup1:
  18. Wow sorry to be reading this (for the second time) as it sounds as though 'they' will stop at nothing to rob yer hard earned kit. I posted in here earlier but looks loike i've been 'over moderated' again and had my initial post completely deleted, God is this personal or what ?
  19. ROTFLMAO:thumbup: Good post there Mark Bolam, i'm lucky as my groundie sounds similar to yours and just gets on with it with a good dose of common sense thrown in. Probably helps that he's mid 50's and has 'been around a while' whereas some of the younger ones are painful and do silly tings. Having said that i have worked with some teenagers and lads in their early 20's and i have more respect for them than some of the 'i have been doing this job fer the last 20 years' brigade, who assume they are 'Gods' and are invaluable. Either way i do not believe the original poster actually deducted all the money he says he has, i tink he embellished the facts a bit to make him errr 'look good/ or seem like a hard ass boss'. Sounds to me like the groundie shud pay for the flip line and carabiner etc but not be charged for new blades or even the labour to have them flipped over. How many chances are you gonna give this groundie ?
  20. i can see both sides here.
  21. chipper returned home today from Greenmech dealer, they were gonna fit all new bits as bearings and a rotar/shaft assembly was damaged but the £1000 needed to do so made me laugh and cry out loud so a local engineering company came to the rescue and saved me bout £500. looking forward to earning some £££ tomorrow though ! Oh and me groundie tore ligaments in his ankle.....carrying his food shopping back from Sainsburys ! so he's out of action ferra while and i get to 'demo' a replacement groundie amorrow which will no doubt be interesting...
  22. tink a genuine 084 pissedon is around £80 + VAT, ywas when i prices one up a couple o' year back.
  23. Ring Ken 07946606093
  24. Gotta agree with the above quoted post, it's now a noightmare. If you tell em yer just a labourer ya moight get a basic card but mention tree works and ROLO/LISS etc comes into it. Very clever of whoever came up with all of these 'requirements' as they are hoops we will all hafta jump thru at quite a personal financial cost. If they cud simplify it somewhat it moight make it more bearable !
  25. used an older 550xp and it was a roight PITA with hot starting issues and initial pick up off idle was dreadful. used a newer 550 and 560 model and they were most excellent. Having said that they were not my own saws and i used them over a few 10 hour shifts so i cannot comment on long term ownership.
