  1. Brings a tear to my eye reading this. I had my beloved meg put to sleep about 2 months ago. She was a whippet / collie cross, she was my constant companion as well, time is a healer, but i do have a picture of her on my desk to remind me of her. I will get another dog one day, but i am scared that i will always compare the next one to meg.
  2. There are plenty of threads on this in the chainsaw section. Baiscally its what you feel is right for you.
  3. Its not my type of thing, but if it suits your purpose then well done for imagination.
  4. If you can, go for the 7900 / 7901 instead, some people on here swear by them. Thats next on my list.
  5. I quite like my makita 4300, its only 12 mths old but i just love it.
  6. Brilliant pieces of kit, i like the little pto chipper.
  7. I had this last week. For the last 12 months i've been working for the local nhs on an 'as and when basis' however, i have never been laid off in the whole 12 months. For a few months informal negotiations have been going on about a better contract. Last week i got told i had a 6 mth contract on better pay, however due to rules and regs i had to have a proper interview, my boss just said come to my office for nine and we will do it then. Now as i was working that day i could of turned up in my uniform, however i decided that as it was still an interview and no contracts have been signed yet i went for the full works, trousers, shirt, tie and jacket. I know i made the right choice, just from the comments i recieved. You should treat it as a proper interview and nothing less.
  8. Looks like a bloody good job to me matey. Well done.
  9. What type of heads do they have, are the replacements easy to come by.
  10. I am open to suggestions of other makes, but ideally i would like a split shaft one, just for the ease of storage/ transportation. thanks.
  11. Just been looking at the makita gear, i'm just wanting a standard strimmer but unsure wether makita strimmers are split shaft which is what i'm after.
  12. I'm needing a new strimmer / brushcutter. Doesnt need to be heavy duty this one, just for gardens and allotments etc. I was looking at the cheap echo ones in screwfix ( they're about £220 ). Are they any good, will they take both line and blade, or am i better with something else ( not stihl ).
  13. Carnt speak highly enough of citroen vans (c15 / berlingo ) for reliability, econemy etc. I keep thinking about getting a suzuki jimny, plenty on here have them. Although i do fancy a freelander.
  14. And nobodys mentioned WD40 or 3 in 1 oil yet
  15. My thoughts exactly, reading earlier posts, it seems like he has put 2 stroke in where the chain oil should go, and put neat petrol in the petrol tank. Does he know to mix his 2 stroke oil with the petrol at the correct mix before putting it into the machine.
  16. Bigger the better really if your going heavy, but as gtr said, not enough info really to guide us.
  17. I'd stick with makita, pro tools and decent price.
  18. I'm with bt but swapping over to plusnet in the near future. My dads just swapped over, basic deal is 2.99 per month for 9 months then goes up to a fiver. And he gets to keep his old (current) email address.
  19. Nice work, lovely colouring.
  20. Dito I too love that bedford, wish they still made them. They have real character, unlike todays modern trucks.
  21. Nice colouring, what will you make from them.
  22. I used to do 40 hrs a week on buildings, plus the travel. Then i was always working at night doing my own jobs, pricing up etc and same on a weekend. But then i was fortunate to get a job with the local nhs. 37.5 hrs per week. Ok the money is poor and its not a permanent contract. But it has given me a lot better work / life balance and i feel better for it. As for my own work, i do it if i want to and thats it. I prefer spending time with the family or on the allotment now. I hoping to get a better contract sorted out shortly.
  23. All receipts and statements into a 12 section expanding file, weekly and monthly figures done on excel, printed off then put into file. Very easy, quick and efficent i find.
