  1. What sort of weight will it lift and how wide are they?
  2. Have been considering one aswell.... I bought a new petzl vertex vent a couple of years back and the adjuster for the head strap had changed and other bits. Its crap. Crappy earmuffs pop off also. Looking at the proto's. Mesh visor looks a decent size. Hope the mesh is finer than the plastic crap on the petzl
  3. Does anyone run a opico skidster or sherpa loader? Only just come to my attention. Look like a nice handy piece of kit with a timber grab! Can load truck and trailer etc My back would love me! Are they any cop? ANy others to look at? Cheers
  4. is there not some sort of relief valve or vent in the cap? maybe blocked? Start and run from cold with cap off for a little trial?
  5. Be a lot of weight though.... Bet trailers neigh on a ton with high sides on. Than that volume in wet hardwood...... Might be a bit flat but also might be asking a bit much of it to run up hills lol
  6. I had my old 90 hp re mapped.... Before it was athsmatic and not the best. After it was great. Went a lot better and more torque. Used to tow my tracked chipper on trailer a lot so 1800kg etc and with grinder on 2350kg
  7. If your borrowing small amount the interest rates are bigger. A 3k 4x4 might not get you much, maybe some hassle also... If you look carefully you might get something half decent but with all price ranges of second ha d vehicles it's a gamble. Would it not work out cheaper to borrow a larger amount so less Interest so you can get your truck, trailer license etc all in one go then your up and working earning straight away? Rather than bits here and there with finance and waiting? All thats being done there is affecting your earning capability
  8. Finances Is a great tool. Terms seem nothing when you take them out. Then later down the line it can get annoying esp with other things on finance also. I'd look to see if you can afford it even in quiet times. Look at what work you have on and forecast for works. Interest rates should be low and best time to borrow but still might not be right for you? Weigh it up first is all I say
  9. Thought the Andrews boots were big numb clumbsy things Only reason I stay with airstreams are they're nimble and good fit and steel lining in base of boot. Other than that they're cold in winter and I wear decent 100% wool socks too
  10. They did a full fat jensen and was 800 odd-900 kg..... They do a jensen contractor 750 also
  11. Anyone tried the Pto splitter off these chaps? All there splitters look good in fairness. Was hoping to try utilize an old tractor with poor hydraulic flow and pressure and run a pto splitter. Anyone?
  12. Why the change? Health benefits etc? You run aspen and bio chain oil then?
  13. Do you run all your saws on this John?
  14. Is there anywhere localish in the north west (I'm Burnley and Skipton area) that takes g30 etc biomass chip that needs drying? I'm just looking to make more income from produce at the yard. If I was to get a cone splitter for a bigger digger and say a 12" heizo. Chip my wood and cart it off to sell? These artics pay peanuts for a low grade product to them (average woodchip leaf etc) Is this a goer? I send quite a bit off in big lumps. Next person cracks them up and chips them then sells on from there. Was wondering if there's an angle for me In this process some where. How much a cube is the end product? Cheers
  15. Short nose and wheel base. You weighted up front?
  16. Yes and not a lot of brass either. My mulcher is 1250kg Thing is though nowadays loads of tractors won't even feel that weight!
  17. Bump Anyone any ideas? Thanks
  18. What are peoples thoughts on re planting in similar position to a tree removed due to meripilus? it has a large host range of tree's it effects so I would presume the list of suitable replacements will be small? Stump was ground out and hole filled back with grindings. Meripilus seems to be showing still on some surface roots and seems to be attacking a now close proximity tree. This tree is within approx 5-6' from the one that was removed and ground out. Is it possible that grinding out the stump on the first tree removed approx 12-18 month ago disturbed/damaged some of the roots of the second tree allowing merip a hold on this tree? Be interesting to think if this was the case... if the stump was left and not ground out it may not have spread to the healthy tree?... Does merip need actual physical damage to a tree to get in? Does it remain in the soil for years? I've heard and seen re fruiting for consecutive years. Many thanks for any info.
  19. great value that
  20. I wouldnt buy new again either. Warrenty is a pain in the arse with having to take machine in and leave it to be fixed then go collect again. Missed a good few days myself due to a new machine that was in warrenty.... If it was out of warrenty it would have been parts ordered and fixed pronto. Will be looking at changing my current chipper in the next year or so but not really happy with what's out there. Sometimes old is the new new and sometimes better the devil you know then the one you don't if you look to upgrade
  21. What you done with the tractor Matt?
  22. F me! What a rip off. If it's like the 530 which I suspect it is they are pillow block bearing a so maybe -50.00 each... Then the roller bearing be one in a cast triangle casing so maybe 35-40.00 and not sure on the other side.. If it cost more than 200.00 in parts I'd be miffed Can you pm me the dealer who you've been in touch with please. I've been looking at moving from timberwolf back to Jensen on my road tow depends if their dealers are still in lala land lol Cheers
  23. Been quoted a grand for parts and fitting or just parts?
  24. 242 quid for the blades? Jeez that sucks. Sod that... Near enough same as old Jensen a530 blades and they were 160 plus vat a pair from recollection. Would have thought they be near same price. I have a few gen sets for the Jensen and a set from Saturn knives and they've been fine. Just put a set of Saturn knives in the tw230 aswell...
  25. I can't add to this thread but all I can say is I enjoy reading your threads Big J. You always look at all sorts of angles to do works and look like you get interesting opertunities. Keep at it
