So does the above mean we can continue to use our chippers, also trailers (small) just for use but not using the trailer for log sales etc.... hire reward... looks like this is going to take some looking into...

from the transit forum : Black and White, certainly Sir Abolition of the small trailer exemption Paragraph 3 of Schedule 1 of the Goods Vehicle (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 exempts from operator licensing a ‘small goods vehicle’ forming part of a vehicle combination (not being an articulated combination) where all the vehicles comprising the combination excluding any ‘small trailer’ have a plated weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes. A small trailer is defined under the Act as a trailer with an unladen weight not exceeding 1020kg. This trailer does not need to be included when calculating the 3.5 tonne limit. However, under the Regulation all the vehicle combination (including any trailer) operating for hire or reward must be included when calculating the weight limit, so the small trailer exemption will be abolished for hire or reward operations from 4 December 2011. However, the small trailer exemption under paragraph 3 of schedule 1 of the Goods Vehicle (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 will remain in place for operators carrying goods other than for hire or reward. "He felled them and made the field arable" dead tree's are no harm in a field unless there is a public footpath or they are over a road etc or near buildings or powerlines etc so i'd at least give a phone call to check

even if the tree is not there, the tpo still remains unless the council revokes it and fairly sure, you do have to replant

i know you can fell them etc..... but its just it sounds like a lot of trees felled thus a lot of cubic metre/tonne of wood??? or is it exempt because theyre dead?? Cheers

I've just purchased a couple of stihl 034's and an 024 Was advised that the 034's need pistons and cylinders.... but have not had the cylinders off just yet to check if i can get away with just pistons for them. One of the 034's has the older style fuel caps, zamma carb and side adjust chain tensioner the other o34 has a carb of which i cannot remember the name at the moment this has the fuel caps fitted, the style just before they went to the tool less ones, but has a front adjust chain tensioner.... wierd. Was advised the 024 had possibly an air leak... it wouldn't start but after a clean through etc and fresh fuel it has started, and runs ok on manufacturors carb settings. One thing to note is that when the saw is turned upside down etc it will stall so would this suggest an air leak?? where can i find a kit to check for leaks? vac and pressure test and how much would i be looking at?? It can all depend on where people are in there businesses. they may just need a trailer thats scabby (but safe) but does the job but is a put me on.... do you like business expense??

Lack of space/yard, frustration from this due to it being a re occuring thing when i do a job, where to put chip and logs etc..... Price of land to high!!!!!

well rang askham bryan today and enquired they told me about the foundation degree which is level 4/5 they said this would be ok to start on, they then told me £3000 for this year, £7000 for next year and probabilly total of £14000 all together, this is a part time course over 3 years!!!!! myrescough said they do the rfs online, of which it is fully booked and i would have to apply for next years, which is fair enough that was 460 + 60 exam fee, not bad..... this is only a level 2 qualification though...... or there is the isa certificate, what level does this give you or does it not work in levels? still none the wiser on which to go for..... deffinetly not askham bryan though!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, I apologise if this has been asked time and time again but i've trawled through pages on the training forum to no avail I am looking to find out what is the best course for a beginner in arb theory to go for? There is all sorts, rfs, fdsc, foundation degree, isa etc I live 30 miles from myrescough and 50 miles from askham bryan, it would be good to do a course one day a week, i am currently self employed so i can work around this, i have seen that the one day a week courses last for 3 years..... Online learning is also another possability, with the isa etc, not sure if you can still do the rfs online?? Anyhow, i'm just looking for some help and guidance on what would be best for me and financially aswell. If you can add any input it would be greatly appreciated Thank you Chris

Spotted the study guide, its a cd..... i thought it would be a big fat book lol ahhh, there is a book and a cd or combination of both

is this an ok course for a beginner in theory side of arb? also do you have a link to the study guide? there seems to be two isa websites.... which one is it? cheers

why on earth didn't they just have them felled? or is it to leave a screen till they can afford to replant etc???

You could possibly cut a foot off it and make a clock when i was last in scotland, i saw a lot of clocks made from timber for sale...... could use a part of it as a name plate for your house? carve words/numbers or use a soildering iron...... just a few suggestions

what length is the art guide? looked on jonsies but doesn't say..... wonder if there is a different bend radius of the rope between the pulley on the art guide and the pinto. I take it both setups will allow a spliced eye or stitched eye rope to be used? if so they then need a retreival ball connecting for retreival? Sorry for all the questions just in an inquizative mood tonight lol
