  1. Hi, if anyone is interested in doing their cs39 at the end of the month give me a bell need to find 2nd person if possible. 360ish inc assessment fee, dates negotiable. My internet is playing up hence only being able to write this on my phone and can't work out how to do paragraphs, so if you're interested phone or text me on 07882 101819 as i may not see any replies on here for a few days. Cheers joe
  2. thanks for the offer, but due to access and terrain it's strimmers only I'm afraid
  3. Hi all, Could do with a hand for at least Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th, possibly the Thursday as well. Mostly brushcutter work, bit of other stuff. Near Chepstow. If you have your own brushcutter that would be very nice but not essential as I have a spare, own helmet/gloves/boots a must. PM me or ring 07882 101819 cheers, Joe
  4. forgot to add link to the page I was looking at... TOP HANDLE SAWS - Chainsaws Discount suppliers online
  5. I've just been browsing top handle saws as I may have to get one at some point, and noticed the Solo offering is listed as 40cc/1.9kW/2.3hp For comparison the Stihl MS201 is listed as 35cc/1.8kW/2.4hp, so the Solo looks pretty similar in terms of performance. Weight is also the same, but the Solo is nearly £300 cheaper Anyone ever used one of these or got any comments? I realize spare parts might be more of an issue, but apart from that? cheers, Joe
  6. Land Rovers are only really allowed to be blue or green Nice looking Landy! Considering tipper conversion for mine, it's the normal pickup though not the hi-cap.
  7. to jump in on this thread rather than start one of my own - I have my CS38 course in two weeks (18th), does anyone know if you are allowed to take your own harness, ropes etc or do you have to use the ones the college provides?

  9. sounds like a good idea, save on fuel costs etc. look up the Sanli electric saw if you're trying to save some money, not used one myself but a friend uses one for firewood and carving and he swears by it
  10. In my opinion, 6.5 x 5m isn't a massive area, a couple of days max should see it done (assuming no other complications). That being said, a 12 hour day with a shovel, rake and wheelbarrow is a long old days work! And £6.25 an hour works out at £75 day rate plus expenses, which is ridiculously cheap for the amount of backache. What's the ground like? Lovely soil or rocks and tree roots all over? Good access? Any stuff to take away? Without seeing the job, I'd charge a minimum of £250 a day, get a local lad who wants to work to give you a hand. This sort of job is much easier when it's two of you, as you can get more done in one day than you on your own would in two. Alternatively, get a mini digger as suggested.
  11. if I hear of anything I'll let you know, I did know of a piece but not sure if it's still there will check up
  12. where are you?
  13. Welcome to Getting British Business Online Getting British Business Online - free website with your name .co.uk address, I think you have to pay something after 2 years to keep the name but I haven't got there yet! Quite easy to do
  14. what a sad sight, don't understand why people feel the need to do this sort of thing.
  15. I know some where this time last year in Forest of Dean if that's not too far for you, I'll check up tomorrow

    truck body

if the tipper ram and bits from old transit are available I'd be interested, I assume the body is too long to fit on a landy 110 though?
  18. I put a new spark plug in every year or so, not because it really needs it just as preventative maintenance to try and make sure it doesn't go down on site! Then the old one goes into the box the new one came in and gets stashed in tool box as emergency backup. I grease clutch when I remember really, usually after a few weeks of very heavy use, or when I change sprocket; every 6 months or so? I just smear a load of strimmer gear grease all over it, seems to work as haven't had one go yet...
  19. I was going to go and get a new bulb and replace it tomorrow, just seem a bit too coincidental as I was messing about with headlights anyway for the bulb to go. Thought it worth asking in case I'd done something I wasn't aware of which had caused this... cheers for reply!
  20. aah the joys of Landy electrics... just replaced one headlight (sealed beam) with a halogen one, the other one was done at the last MOT. Before I touched it this afternoon, the blue main beam warning light on the dash worked - now it doesn't. Main beam still works, didn't tinker with the dash in any way - just pulled the plug off the back of the old light and plugged it into the new one Anyone got any ideas on what the issue could be? cheers, Joe
  21. are you anywhere near Gloucestershire? There's one just up the road from me, blue X reg double cab, done 190k (ish) I think but was told it had an engine replacement recently so engine at least should be good for a while. £2500 but a bit of haggling should sort that...
  22. not sure if it's still going, but I know last year H+S ran a ladder exchange scheme - trade in any dodgy falling apart ladder and get 50% or so off a brand new one. Worth looking into if you're after buying one? HSS Hire - Ladder Exchange
  23. PM me your email address and I'll send you my blank one, I don't know how to post it up here
  24. aye one of those shredder blades is the best option for a brushcutter - you lift it up, rev it and drop, as much if ot more than the side to side strimming motion. Works a treat!
  25. I used to use OpenOffice, but now use LibreOffice - it's a variant of OO, but seems to be much better at opening the new .docx files without messing up the format of the document than OpenOffice is LibreOffice Productivity Suite Download LibreOffice
