    what one

I picked up a Husqvarna 365 on ebay for £200 in feb, this saw has been brilliant can't recommend it enough. Should be able to run 22" fine, and will be fine with a 16" also. cheers, Joe
  2. ms240 might be an idea - I think it's lighter weight than a 260, cheaper and should be fine for knocking a few branches off... plus it's the smallest pro Stihl saw, apart from the MS200/200T cheers, Joe
  3. what is it you want it carved into?
  4. I know the Welsh Axmen like it for showing how quickly they can chop through a piece of wood, don't know if you have any timbersports people near you but if so you could sell it to them if you don't carve it... cheers, Joe
  5. another option is to look for a good secondhand saw, I brought my Husqvarna 365 off ebay in January for £225 and it's been a brilliant saw so far. There's another one on there now, or just type in "insert brand name here" chainsaw and see what comes up! Husqvarna 365 special chainsaw 24" bar NOT STIHL on eBay (end time 30-Jul-10 21:27:58 BST) cheers Joe
  6. I brought my first brushcutter a while ago, after trying every one I could get my hands on to find my favourite! While I have used the FS450, I ended up buying a Kawasaki KBH43A, they also do a 48cc version if you really need more power. I much prefer Kawasaki to Stihl, it has a larger fuel tank so less time spent filling up! Also a longer shaft than the Stihl, as I am a taller chap this is nice also, and it just feels more aggressive! cheers, Joe
  7. I'm guessing that's the bar you brought from me - sorry to hear it doesn't fit, I thought it all lined up OK when we tried it in tesco car park! someone else replied to the thread about the sale saying something like damn too late, you might like to contact him and ask if he's still interested? cheers, Joe
  8. thanks a lot everyone, looks like my best bet is to try local farmers then! cheers, Joe

  10. hi guys, don't know if this in in the right place, I think it is but my apologies if it isn't! I'm looking for some advice, basically my job has come to an end. I have been chainsaw carving for a while in my spare time, and decided that as I already have chainsaws, a van and a good selection of hand tools it would be foolish to go back on the dole, so I am going to try becoming self employed doing half carving work, and half countryside management (fencing, hedge laying, strimming, whatever else people will pay me to do!) However, what I don't have is a place to store stuff, so far my chainsaws have been in our very small shed but it's not really practical. What I would really like is some sort of secure building of a size big enough to store saws, brushcutter, hand tools etc. as well as timber for carving and any materials I might need (stakes, wire etc.). Ideally able to get a vehicle pretty close to aid loading and unloading. Can anyone offer any advice where to try please? And how much this should costs in terms of rent? My plan at the moment is to try local farmers, and see if any of them have a free shed. However, so far all I have found is one who has a shed about 10x10', which isn't really big enough and he wants £10 a week rent, which seems a bit high to my mind but maybe this is average? cheers, Joe
  11. looks like it's gone, that was quicker than I thought! cheers, Joe
  12. Hi Guys, I haven't posted on here too much before, so I hope this thread is in the right forum and not breaking any rules. I have a 36" bar and chain for a old Stihl 090 which I no longer need, if anyone wants it make me an offer! When I work out how to attach pics I'll put some up, it's not pristine condition but got a fair bit of life left. If I don't get any interest here I'll stick it on ebay, but if anyone here wants it then it'll save me the hassle and ebay fees! I don't think this will fit on an 880, but I could be wrong. cheers, Joe
  13. thanks a lot, that's made it a bit easier to gauge out prices for what I require! cheers, Joe
  14. Hi everyone, I'm considering buying a generator to power my angle grinder for sanding, also a black and decker powerfile. However, I get quite confused when it comes to electricity: watts, amps and volts are a mystery to me! I have used my boss's genny at work, it's a cheap chinese one I don't know the specs but it's quite small. It managed to power my grinder, but wouldn't even start the powerfile. Can anyone advise me what key figures to look for in a genny please? It will only be powering one at a time, not both together. Here's links to the exact kit I want to power off it, if it means anything... Angle Grinder: Sealey SG125 - Angle Grinder 125mm 1000W/230V --- Sealey & Draper Tools - Classic-Car-World Tool Shop Powerfile: Black & Decker Cyclonic Action Powerfile KA900E 350W, KA900E cheers, Joe
  15. thanks again everyone, I've emailed this guy asking for a price to take training and do the test, when I get a reply I'll post it here as a reference for anyone else, roughly what they can expect to pay! Professional Driving Instructor in Ross on Wye : Ken Evans ADI I'm in the Forest of Dean, so Stockport is a bit far to go if I can find anywhere closer, but thanks for the link anyway. cheers, Joe
  16. thanks for the advice everyone, I've emailed a local instructor to find out prices for a course. After looking on the DVLA website, it turns out my vehicle might not be suitable to do the test in, as vans aren't very good for the assessors visibility apparently. So I'll try and find an instructor, and do it that way. I realise you could be in trouble if you get stopped with a trailer too big for you on the road, I might have misunderstood the lose your licence comment. I was thinking I might do the test, and at the end the assessor would say not only have you failed your trailer test, but if your car driving wasn't up to normal test standards he'd take that licence away as well! Don't know if this is possible or not, not really a problem just something to bear in mind if so. cheers, Joe
  17. what do you mean, lose your licence? If your car driving isn't up to test standard, they can take your licence away? This isn't too much of a worry as I'm don't have many bad habits, just something to take into account if so... I'm guessing all this is without the trailer ticket, I've had a look at the DVLA site but I'm getting a bit confused about what I can and can't tow. I have a berlingo van with a towbar, which is what I was planning on doing the test in. Does the trailer I take to the test centre have to be over the legal limit for me (therefore one for which I would require the ticket in the first place)? Or can I take a small one to do the test with? I'm assuming I have to take my own trailer? maybe I should find an instructor... cheers for all the help Joe
  18. Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to build up my collection of various tickets, and fairly high on the list of priorities is getting my trailer ticket as I passed my driving after 1997. I have driven with trailers a bit, and the thought doesn't really fill me with dread. Can anyone who has taken the test advise me as to whether it is worth taking a course, or if it is possible to just book the test? And what is required, I'm guessing linking up, reversing etc... anything I should be aware of that isn't obvious? cheers, Joe
  19. I sent you a private message last night, but it's not showing up in my sent messages? Hope you got it, if not let me know. cheers, Joe
