  1. ebay price that is! if selling on here it may go for less
  2. I'd say from your description £350-£400
  3. either myself or the other local guy I carve with would be interested, if you would like to see pictures of previous carvings we have done I will arrange this for you. MY email address is [email protected], phone number 07882 101819 We are based in the Forest of Dean but willing to travel. cheers, Joe
  4. each to their own, I love them they're so simple and easy to use!
  5. if you get a kawasaki there's a guy on ebay who sells efco heads modified to fit kawasaki, best line feed head you can buy IMO. Forget his name but if you type in kawasaki strimmer it will bring up the bump feed head. I'm in the Forest of Dean, so probably a way to come for you!
  6. I expect this site will see a sudden surge in sales now this has been posted!
  7. haha, I'm not a great fan of the snorkel myself! It came with it on, and to remove it would mean spending money on the piece to cover the hole, so I've stuck with it so far to avoid spending a fiver!
  8. any 0800 or similar number or withheld numbers don't get answered, if it's someone important (bank etc) they will leave a message, or write me a letter.
  9. Here's my old girl, she has done everything I ask of her. Jobs on the list for the summer are welding on rear crossmember, new starter motor, possibly a paint job depending on funds! Just had 4x new tyres not shown on pic.
  10. what about number of times reccommended to someone to buy on arbtalk that way MS200t, 346xp, 372xp, MS440/044 and MS660/066 will be pretty much unbeatable by any lesser saw...
  11. where are you based? I may have a Kawasaki for sale if the price is right... but I'd look for a 40cc roughly machine, Stihl, Husky, Efco, Kawasaki, all good.
  12. 346xp is a cracking little saw I use mine for pretty much everything until it's MS660 territory now!
  13. may see you there Ali! hope you found someone ok, sorry I'm busy all next week strimming and carving.
  14. Hi all, In case any of you are interested, the Dean Heritage Centre in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire will be having its annual Fire And Wood festival. I will be carving there, along with several other chainsaw carvers from the Forest of Dean area. My brother will be doing fire juggling and circus workshop, and there will also be a traditional charcoal burn, rustic furniture making, pole lathe turning, bushcraft, blacksmithing and many other traditional woodland skills and artistic type activities! Also on the Saturday evening a friend of mine will be running a band in the same village, in the village hall. He makes his own cider (Severn Cider) and will be running the bar there. For more information about Fire And Wood the website is Dean heritage No info about the band/evening do on there, any questions ask me and I'll try and get answers. cheers, and hope to see some of you there! Joe
  15. Cheers Steve, will make a new thread now then!
  16. Just to check, before I do it and get banned... Last weekend of this month (Bank Holiday) I will be carving at a small event in the Forest of Dean, along with 6(ish) other chainsaw carvers. Also at the event will be the Welsh Axemen timbersports team, a traditional charcoal burn, pole lathe turning, bushcraft, and plenty of other woodland related stuff. Can I make a thread advertising where and when, or am I likely to get banned? I guess it may be of interest to some on here! cheers, Joe
  17. sorry to hear this mate hope everything else is ok
  18. I've used red cedar with great success...
  19. I use danish oil
  20. would have thought it would be OK with a 30", I use a 36" on my 660 and seems to cope alright!
  21. my MS171 the chain tensioner is pants, chain is always going loose. Also takes a really long while to warm up when starting from cold, I'm talking 3-4 minutes it seems like before you can give it full throttle. And you only have to look at the oiler in the wrong way for it to block up. I haven't even mentioned the flippy caps...
  22. I have a Stihl 171 and don't really rate it to be honest - when it dies, the two 30-35cc saws I will be considering to replace it are: Sanli - I've never used one, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Very reasonably priced, and everything I've heard and read seems to be good. Only issue might be parts though... Makita - again, never used one but heard that unlike Stihl and Husky, their small homeowner saws still have pro grade construction. hope this helps

    50/1 vs 25/1

I use Stihl Ultra at 50:1 (ish), I tend to add a bit more oil so it's slightly over the 50 line on the bottle. I only use my own fuel, if I'm working for someone else I will still take my own can and use that rather than fuel which I don't know the age of, or if it's been mixed properly... not worth the risk IMO Noone should be mixing fuel in the saw, and they would not be using my kit again if that happened to me!

    ms660 on ebay

just saw this on ebay, powerhead only if anyone's interested. However I strongly suspect it has had a lot more than 2 hours use! Chainsaw | eBay UK
  25. out of the two you mentioned, I'd go for a MS240 or possibly a 260. I haven't used the 211, but I have its smaller brother the MS171. It's a pain in the backside to start from cold, it starts OK but you have to wait a long while for it to warm up, you can't rev it for a couple of minutes or it dies. Once warm it's OKish, but not brilliant. I use my 346xp for hedge laying, it's a brilliant saw! And most of the hedge layers I know use MS240s or 260s, so that's what I would go with...
