  1. Forestry is more do able for you I think, its much more vast in what you can do and sometimes can pay alot better. You could be your own standing timber fell and sell the timber on tbh you probly wouldnt make alot of monney but it would get you started wtih contacts logs also builds up a client base and geting subbies in on climbing is also the good. Good luck where abouts are you?
  2. Nice one mark and mick for organising is it, best get my climbing kit out and blow the cobwebs off havent climbed in about 3 months
  3. Doesnt this sound like a troll thingy person? I work a whole year for free one day a week with my current boss for work experience while at school and work weekends for a bit of cash i showed him i was keen to learn and work and never asked to be paid for a work experience day he then rewarded me with an apprentership and then a job when my apprentiship finishes. If this isnt a joke you dont deserve the job
  4. the next world war would be the end of it its no fighting in trenches or in fields one hit of a button and well all be gone so im not to worried theres nothing i can do about it
  5. Then the world realy will be run by big brother:001_rolleyes:
  6. 260 over a 240 any day a 390 are a really bad saw heavy gutless and very very juicy.
  7. can get them in red mate Evolution of Tree Surgeon Arborist T-Shirt. All Sizes! on eBay (end time 21-Feb-11 22:44:06 GMT) wasnt there talk of some more arbtalk tshirts for this year?
  8. thats great stuff mate. nice to see how its evolved would be well up for the tshirt/hoody idea to
  9. I thought it should be ever so slightly higher:confused1:
  10. Would of thought that they would have to because of the husky top handle, thats a fair bit lighter though but a fair amount less power Woops read it wrong there increasing the wieght and adding slightly more power:confused1: I think its all going to be about the huskey topper
  11. its not going to be for ever though is it? youngsters/newbies/apprentices need monney to live my wage doesnt cover my insurance, housekeep etc etc so I have no choice but to do it its not magnifiying it its just a soulotion until they get more experience to get a better wage. I would of thought you would be agreeing with stephen going on your groundie thread not to long back
  12. got it in one:biggrin: its wrong to moan about being poor then not accept work when its offerd. If he is saving for something then he should be working all the time to get to what ever goal or even if his 'poor' wage isnt livable you should do something about it. Im applying for a evening cleaning/bar work at the momment as im not finding my wage ( the same as andys sons wage) livable. I also do saturdays and sundays if the work is there.
  13. or spend sundays having me time?
  14. What Andy says is right its not easy but it can be swings and roundabouts one site you could be cutting and making some serious monney because of various reasons but then some sites it maybe awlful pay and your cutting all day for close to no monney. If you want a job I would try ringing some local companies asking to work for free for a week to show you can work then they may offer you some full time work. good luck
  15. thats what i was trying to say good post
  16. You sure you got the 50 quid a ton right?
  17. but if work is that slow why not say yes i have my climbing tickets and yes i have my ppe your virtually guranteed the job and who knows what might come along while working for the council they may offer you more work. No matter who the employer is why would you ask them to provide ppe straight away that could put them off you
  18. exactley the same here, I dont care what the law is it depends on the job, forestry is normally 10 30 stop 15 mins then back to it lunch half hour at 1 then a 15 minute stop at 3 ish but its never clcokwork just 'well do this tank then stop' or I need to sharpen well have tea now. On tree surgery its more varied usual when the climbers at an easy point to get down and back up and depending if the jobs tight for time etc.
  19. what saw is it? on smaller saws your never realy going to need two.
  20. I loves a good bodge:thumbup: But never thought or heard about this bravo sir:thumbup:
  21. 7.30-5 genrally but in the summers its more common to finish later
  22. I use to run for kent in the days before fags booze and women were discoverd I havent ran anywhere in about 3 years. I think running shorter harder runs will keep the upper body strength there if possible trying to do sprints in a field maybe where you sprint 50 m -walk 25- sprint 50m etc. Good luck and have fun before I die I inted to run a marathon
  23. Yes plenty when chippers get nicked chippers are avalible at cheap hire prices on the day etc. obviously you pick and choose your not going to be mates with every competitor but its nice to have a few friends in the industry that can help you out and its allways good to help others out.
  24. well done we all todl you so
  25. thats more like it:001_smile:
