  1. depends on money but as robert said trailer tickets are invalulble now. aerial rescue xcs38 would be good to
  2. Summer chilling time:thumbup: well worth a listen [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cs8G_mY8jE]YouTube - The Presidents Of The United States Of America - Peaches[/ame]
  3. I do hope it works out for you I can imagine its the most frustratiting thing in the world. Heard a story the other day of a haulger who was owed monney by national trust, he got so fed up he parked his lorry accros the only entrance to the property on one of the busiest and hottest days off the year and just fell asleep. They paid within an hour. Another story similar to one earlier was a farmer got the hump with the local council backed muck spreader up and fired away. good luck
  4. If the customer wants only a crown thin persuade them they want a dismantle then persuade them its better to leave the brash where it lies for all the beasties and that. Most conifer is pretty strong if its alive but yeah a throwline will get you right up there.
  5. congrats mark:thumbup:
  6. that new stihl thing looks horrible and girly.
  7. I just hate television I still wacth it which makes my last comment some what pointless but I would rather wacth a film or listen to music or sleep rather than wacth any crap on there adverts have annoyed me for years the only advert that are slighltly enjoyable are the beer adverts but there few a far between now.
  8. I spent two years earning alot less than that theres no harm in asking for a rise or just asking to go on a tonnage or peice rate. Dont get assey if he says no just ask why and keep learning and proving and as woodpicker says again when you think its right to.
  9. He is quids in then. I think the going rate for a cutter on a hardwood coppice is £11 a ton. Talk to him about it you obviously know something isnt right so get it sorted.
  10. What sort of forestry work is it? Can you not work on a tonnage rate?
  11. Sorry for late replies. I started doing work experience while I was 15 and still at school. Did one day a week and weekend/holiday work then I looked into the apprentership scheme and my boss was interested. So joined as a full time apprentice with him when I (just) made it through school:sneaky2: Then finished apprentership few weeks back and now full time with same boss. So 3ish years, full time 2years.
  12. Wish I got more Im awful with my cammera doesnt really show a progression just a load of random photos pre top saw times for me, a picture of 'what happens when the lad has a go part 3' and a 'proper' stump grinder:biggrin:
  13. running bowline is allways a handy one
  14. I do to someone once told me of an injection to help it but think they only give it you if it realy bad? It is horrible and depressing and there is nothing you can do. Worse time is when you sit in a beer garden with your mates beautiful summers day and you cant enjoy your beer because of sneezes and snot:thumbdown:
  15. Haha very true drunk forum writing should be just as illegal as drink driving:lol:
  16. Good thread! I to have recentley passed my apprentership in the last few weeks ( think I passed my cs38 and 39 assesment 2 fridays back). It certainly is the way forward in my opinion. Ive done mine with a local firm. I havent had as many oppertunites to climb as it looks like your apprentice has ( time/monney on jobs etc) but Ive done alot of forestry work and now looks like im heading more into arb. Ive been offerd a job with the same firm and things are looking good im starting to do more climbing now I have tickets and im feeling and showing more confidence in the tree and am starting to make someone monney. I wish Tom good luck. I have some photos of me somewhere ill try and fish em out.
  17. Like it or lump it everything is about monney. We are all here to make monney and monney does make the world go round and no petetion will ever change that.I respect both sides of the arguement at the end of the day I think itll happen no matter what so at least someone gets a few jobs from it.
  18. When you have one hand scracth sweaty testies and one hand on your 020:thumbup:
  19. Unfortunatley fire isnt an option think it will have to be break it up with a lot of hammering and sweating if we cant get it away with a trolley. thanks for replies
  20. haha stump seemed fine did a nice low fell and didnt find anything:001_smile:
  21. Dismantaled a fairly large birch today and 5 foot up was some concrete. Not a problem we thought just work round it and take it back. Until 6 foot up from the cavitie the concrete was in we hit some more and we now have a 6 foot long and 2 foot diameter birch stump in a garden. Acces is poor a 2 foot 10 gate to get through we may have a trolley to get it on to but its not going to be easy to get it over a lawn. So has anyone got any ideas? Any one tried putting a kango through a bit of wood before? Ta muchly:001_smile:
  22. try to get your cut lower to the ground waste of valuable timber that
  23. Do they not do either with headted handles then?
