  1. they shouldn't come away with just basic knowledge and skill levels, personally I think 1 year is not long enough. Sure work experience is crucial but too many pass their tickets without furthering skills and knowledge after. The colleges here are good IMO, 3 years as a apprentice before becoming qualified, builds great knowledge and experience at the same time, however this is based on what the employer is like, same for anyone I guess.
  2. Hmmmm, that's actually not a bad system for Ddrt users. Seen similar at the comps here just different variations. Technically the zigzag ain't used at all during the ascent on the srt line, but a quick change over in the canopy for sure.
  3. I love the Esky in the footwell (not sure what it's called for a copter) as if he's guna eat a sandwich whilst on a break.haha
  4. Ah ok, just not available to iPad or similar
  5. If I understand your question, I'm sure it's different for everyone but I allways use the block in the middle of the tree(strongest anchor point) and put my redirect in the crown, even if its above the block. Generally the redirect is mainly for brash and smaller log wood so not too concerned about overloading the gear.if I'm worried about overloading gear then im cutting waaaaay to big a piece for a redirect to handle. Cut smaller if worried or get to a point where you can remove the redirect and lower from the block. Every tree and every scenario is different though. Also don't just think about the gear taking the loads but if the trees anchor points are up to the task as well. If in doubt, cut smaller, hope this helps. Jake
  6. Have you found much wear inside the running bowline where the rope might rub?
  7. The beauty of being able to lower yourself eh, imagine if you were stuck on a croll at that time Ben.
  8. Nope, were you really climbing a oak or were you just climbing a piddle cherry. Set the bar to high with ya copter. Hahaha.
  9. Iv seen better pictures but hop this helps abit Fredward Jake:thumbup1:
  10. Says it's unavailable for some reason Jesse?
  11. Really enjoyed that vid, great work. I too am not sold on the backbone, I like the idea in my head but can't get away from the fact it seems to easy for the sling to pop out if not allways under tension.
  12. My only concern is you may run out of rope if he needs to be lowered. Bloody amateurs:thumbup:
  13. Surely you can't retreive it through redirects though?
  14. Same, no matter how many redirects it always retrieves. Also takes the same amount of time to set up as the pinto tie in. Just my preferred method Jake
  15. Remember that some questions and answers are the same in both assessments, so there's less to remember for the second assessment 8)
  16. Love it mate, looks great:thumbup1:
  17. I'd love to know how splice into both holes of the croll Tommy. Also I assume the elastic is buried into the tenex? What size tenex? Jake
  18. Absolutely, couldn't agree more. I also have more than one srt device and use them both for different occasions. Just curious as there's a lot of hype surrounding the RR and I'm sure a lot of people will be ditching the RW to buy the RR. I think it's great that Adams trialling and manufactured his own design and is Pursuing it, just wondered if he thought people will stick to the RW or move on. IMO a big part of the RW performance is in the tether, iv tried some awful ones and it's no wonder people say they can't get on with it (not the only reason) so if it's as good as believed then I look forward to purchasing it (my ABR stiffy ain't so stiff no more) Jake
  19. It's used widely here in Aus, but I can't bring myself to do it. Much quicker and safer and easier for the grundies to use slings IMO and I love it combined with a rigging plate
  20. Hey Adam, really not trying to put a downer on your quest, just a question but do you think there will be much of a call for RW gear with the rope runner due for release soon. Or will the rope wrench go on strong? Maybe a zk3? Jake
