  4. Cool. Sad that there both now gone. Ah! new dawn new day
  5. Hi scale who were you working for in queens square at the time. I was a groundie for fountains when they were done in 2006 but were being reduced on the building side for "light" reasons. amazing trees tho. Still not as big as the planes on the centre i dont think.
  6. Of all the places you could go in Bristol and you end up in Bedminster, Victoria park.ahh! at least you survived:001_tt2: not a bad spot. I remember when i was a trainee and having to crown lift the poplars led down in the photo with a silky. Good times:thumbdown: Who you working for?
  7. Iv had a butterfly for 3 years and i have to say............I AM SICK TO DEATH OF IT! glad i got that off my chest:lol: it crushes your balls, it twist on you and then the side d's dig in to your hips. if you do a proper days climbing on it your hips will suffer. mine are red raw at the mo. rant over im getting a new one next month:thumbup1:
  8. How come you use the revolver if your rope isnt running. Would a normal biner be ok?
  9. Ive already got the pantin and hand ascender from petzl, i think the pantin is probably my best ever purchase. What a differnce to your day with that tiny little helper strapped to your boot. In regards to the throw line i do allways get the branch im after it just depends weather i get it first try or i could still be there for half an hour:blushing: We also have a big shot and its amazing:thumbup1: however we only use it on tall jobs as its abit big to carry for anything less than 50ft i find.
  10. Thanks Oldmilltrees, makes sense for the 3:1 but does that not take a huge amount of time to set up for every limb. If it was me i would just have to grunt and bear the 1:1. or at least try it out for a while as i couldnt be bothered with the time taken to set it up for every branch. Still im young and fit so i cant see why this should be a major problem, doesnt seem to of put a majority of the people from this thread off. Plus it does look super cool:001_cool:
  11. hi guys. im really interested in getting a rope wrench and after doing a 15% thin on a monster of a turkey oak today i could really see the benifits(ddrt is alot of hard work when your going up and down, not that great for re-directs too) however i do have a question. if your out on the end of a branch and your in a almost horizontal position, how hard is to bring yourself back upright from the single line? I know your not supposed to but simetimes i find the easiest option for getting back in from this position using ddrt is to grab both prts of the rope and pull your in, this seems like alot of hard work and i could imagine doing this allday getting very tyring? If you could shed some light it would be much appreciated. Jake
  12. Admittidly we were workin for a big company so we did tend to use and abuse our kit.the chippers werent serviced to the same standereds as what we do now because there was no personal pride in them. but i am just going on my own personel experiance.
  13. It depends how hard you work your chipper. If your using it for long periods a day then the jenson would be a better machine, only have the chipper on for a couple of hours then the greenmech would be better. Ive used both and we have a green mech now. And to be honest the build quality is terrible. There are so many faults that im not going to list them on here. IMO if you like your greenmech then perhaps you havnt tried many others. Again this is only my opion but greenmech comes dead last on my chipper list. We had one back in 2005 that we had to keep a fire extinguisher next to because it kept catching fire. it was like the wooden spoon. If your team done something wrong that week you got given the greenmech...................Happy buying
  14. Ive had to eat my kebab quick after reading the responses, before i had second thoughts
