  1. Albere, how are you finding the spiderjack combo. Ive been trying it for a couple of weeks now and to be honest ive retired the idea. I found when ascending and when the wrench was in neutral that the sj wouldnt engage until i forced the lever up. If i was to slip or my pantin was to slipoff the rope it would have been a freefall for me:thumbdown:. I think mark is right for the Vt and hitchclimber, saying that i watched flatters video using the lockjack and rw and looked as tho they rated it. I just know that a friction hitch will definatly catch me if anything were to go wrong. Stay Safe Jake
  2. Awsome. Thanks for the reply. Im really into my srt at the mo, cant seem to get my mind off how to try and improve my setup so hopefully thats one tick off your list. Ill be working for ArborCo, i went over and met with david(manager).Hes a sound bloke and he showed me around the yard and i got a great feel for the place. The botanacal gardens were amazing. Ill be based down in the peninsula so il be just out of the city.
  3. Hey guys.Really interested in this thread as im really wanting to have a go at splicing. Q1, is it as hard as im thinking it is Q2, roughly how long does a splice take Q3, for you Melbourne lot. How is the tree scene in there as im off to work there in september. Cheers guys:thumbup1:
  4. honey brothers sell this artical Thats where i got mine.
  5. Ill try and get a pic up of my mod on the zk-1. Try nd shed some light on this very confusing subject.........or is everyone up to date now:confused1:
  6. Fair play drew. Thats alot of effort put in for the good of arbtalk. 5 stars:thumbup:
  7. Ive never used the e2e before but it does look rather long. must give alot of sit back.seems abit expensive considering a 1m length can be as little as £3. i suppose it must be for the spliced eyes:001_huh:
  8. Your right it is the zk-1 but i suppose that is what the zk-2 will be. With a metal teather instead of a rope one.kinda like what they did with the spiderjack dyneema. you could buy the upgrade on the origanal or buy a 2.1. Maybe its for the consumers who dont own the rope wrench yet?
  9. If you have bought the 2nd edition of arbclimber. find kev binghams article on srt anchors. You can clearly see the metal teather in which i am told by flatters that it is the zk-2. All i have done is got my old man to manufacture me one and i have fitted it to my zk-1. Not sure if you have to buy a new model wrench or if the metal teather can be fitted to the old one. All i can say is this mod is fantastic:thumbup1:
  10. In that situation i like to use the "ive got papework to do" excuse:lol:
  11. No worries, thats what arbtalks for. Stay safe
  12. my bad:blushing:its a single fishermans. if you go into the knot guide on arbtalk it shows you how to tie it in there
  13. Tie a double fishermans at each end,it will tighten itself to the krab when loaded.make sure you tape the tails up to as they may slip out of the knot. Not likely but still not impossible
  14. Been in bristol all my life.Started dragging brash when i was twelve, went to college when i was 16 and here i am now. Wont be in bristol for much longer thoughas im off to OZ in september,
  15. Well done, at least you got the job done.seems like a mini milestone when you get tricky trees done
  16. Fountain treeworks. I used to work for fountains plc but they pulled out the area when they lost the bristol contract. You in Bristol?
  17. Why not just order a length of cord and tie your own. Its alot cheaper and you get the right length for your climbing style.
  18. drews right, the squeakyness does get old real quick. I didnt know that the rapids didnt squeak so thats strait on my wishlist.
  19. The second video is really interesting, proves a good choice of hitch is extremely important. Thanks for sharing
  20. I hint a little jelousy:lol:
  21. Damn so ive just upgraded mine.Oh well saves on shelling out for a new one. is that the only mod you couldnt tell us in your thread. the metal teather is awsome didnt use the rope one for long but it did annoy me:sneaky2:
  22. old mill have you tried the cambium saver tie off. personolly i find this much better and you dont have to get down the tree the same side to retrive your rope.i do use your method aswell but as they say, courses for horses..........i think thats how it goes:blushing:
  23. i Just finished my first big tree using srt today, and im glad to saythat all the benifets i could see in my head cme to reality. its so easy to get back to the top of the tree when you needto redirect the other side. im loving the fact that redirects dont hinder you and help you alot. I think srt is the way forward, it does seem safer as it is so easy to use redirects you would be a fool not too use them. This means incase of a slip or trip your swing will be greatly reduced and the probability of you hitting the trunk lessons aswell. overall extremely happy with my purchase of the rw Drew i saw you mention the kev bingham artical in arbclimber, Has anyone noticed that he uses a metal tether instead of a rope one. I got my old man to manufacture me one and its incredible. youdont have to keep minding the rw or adjust it.because the tether is solid it acts as a lever and you get no sopiness of the tether.you just go up and down care free(to a certain degree)
