  1. No holidays here ime afraid, the thought of driving to Gatwick for 4 in the morning and then waiting 3 hours in a big shed before flying to some crumby hotel,or forking out £400 for the priviledge of dossing in a damp 'holiday cottage' for a week here in the uk is stress i can do without.
  2. Well he's keen and getting stuck into it leastways. If anyones got his number i will give him a days trial. PPE all supplied of course.
  3. Sorry to hear that ,hope your insurance pays up quickly.
  4. And for the avoidance of doubt, i have never claimed dole, pay my taxes in full,am insured to the hilt for everything and everyone, and would open my books to anybody.
  5. That's a little strong my friend.
  6. Thats one reason my trucks are not sign written. Its bad enough them following my chipper home, its another showing the address and inviting them where to find everything.
  7. A nice burger with onions and relish washed down with a cuppa off the roach coach at the clay shoot. Very tasty.
  8. Ive been caught twice in the past year or so, in a front garden with lots of tall shrubs and bushes, the old dear had come out with biscuits and gone in again,i took the opportunity, only to hear her ask me something behind my back half way through. More recently we are treeing in a young couples garden, who are out at work, with the mother who lives next door coming out to see how we are progressing. She goes back in her front door,so i have a drain off in a hedge round the back beside daughters house, next thing i know, the mother is standing right by my side,i mean standing watching me like one foot away.i later see theres a hidden door in the fence panels between there back gardens, and she'd come through that. I just apologised but that didnt cut much ice with her,and later in the day she told us not to bother to come the next day to do her trees,as had been arranged.
  9. Since one has been invaded one talks differently now, what what what.
  10. That hurt my eyes.
  11. Ime with lloyds too, always found them ok.
  12. That looks like one of those trees that was deemed not worth the effort to fell due to the badly shaped trunk. Luckily for us its been left for all to see. Thanks for posting Mario.
  13. Most of the propositions ive had lately, looked about 15 years older than me with one foot in their grave.
  14. Thats a good blog Tom, perhaps i ought to modernise my name to 'oldtreesurgeon'
  15. Just water. Ive noticed that my young assistants seem to favour bottles of what i presume is bluecol antifreeze.
  16. I think these were the last pair of clumpy boots i ever bought
  17. In the woods today, the saws were left in the shade when not being used, but they werent running or starting properly. Except the dolmar which wasnt bothered by the heat.
  18. Unusually had a busy jan and feb ,then dropped off to a point when its been quiet for a month or two, phone not ringing although i spend a kings ransome on advertising. Averaging now only couple of jobs a week, and that is better than some of my fellow tree boys hereabouts, who have called me of an evening wondering whether to get out altogether to get some fresh money coming in. Ime of the opinion that the only busy guys,in this area leastways, are those that prefer to work for beer money.
  19. You make me laugh Felix
  20. I thought a growler was the large vicious mutt you often find in back gardens when pricing up, baring teeth, fur raised along the spine, and salivating, with mrs muff laughingly saying 'oh dont take any notice of him, he wont hurt you'
  21. Thats a good one Gary, dont know what happened there, must be my arthritic fingers.
  22. Picked up a big log with my little sappie, just as it was shoulder height going on the top of the load, the log dropped off and my sappie came back and the square end clouted my on my eye socket. I wasnt far from home,so mrs oldwoodcutter put some frozen peas on it but still took over an hour to stop bleeding.

  24. The way he's waving that saw around, at best he'll soon be cutting his own leg off below the knee.
