    Dolmar

This is good news for Dolmar owners everywhere. The service i've received this last year from Andrew has been first class.
  3. I will keep my eyes and ears open over on this side for you Phillip.
  4. Whilst i was in a queue at esso a while back, i became aware of a young fellow coming in behind me in quite an agitated state. He was pacing about like the world was on his shoulders so i asked him if he was alright - he said he'd just put some petrol in his car and now realised he'd left his wallet at home. I told him to calmly explain to the guy behind the counter what had happened, and to offer whatever he had of value with him as a deposit, with his name, address and number, and then return to pay as soon as possible. This must have been acceptable to esso because as i pulled my truck away from the pumps, he caught my eye as he came out of the door, and cheerfully gave me the thumbs up.
  5. Sleep more, work less. Delegate more, sidestep stress-inducing customers, Put rates up, earn more.
  6. Your client is getting a few quotes in no doubt, so if you fancy getting as much as you can you could say £600 for the connie, but i wouldn't think you'd get it,no matter how good your presentation/sales patter is,but you never know. More than likely you've got to say £500 and we all know how connies have a habit of slapping you in the face, so allow all day for just you two doing it.
  7. Yes i cant resist looking at the rubbish logs in the entrances to B & Q and Tesco, was inspecting the tesco ones a bit too closely the other day,as i got the evil eye off the security boy.
  8. I may be able to fix you up with an artic load of oversize cord from my main yard, mixture of oak,ash and beech. Ime only 45 minutes from norwich so you could easily arrange your own transport ,if thats of any help my friend.
  9. I remember talking to a FC forester a day or 2 after the storm,he was in charge of a fairly big area at that time. We were talking in some forestry areas where, without the benefits of beech shelter belts, whole sides of compartments were blown in with all the devastation with which we are now familiar . He was absolutely dumbfounded and kept saying 'we wont be able to clear this up in my lifetime' He was what i suppose we would nowadays describe as being stressed out. Occasionally, i pass through those stands and i remember him clearly, the way he walked up the rides,as if in a trance, and sitting in his motor, not quite believing what he saw, but his words did come true as he died shortly after his retirement, and the signs of that storm are still there for those whose eyes can see it.
  10. You're right , friend of mine got one during a big shop, took it in to the manager and told him to stick it up his jumper and walked out. He didnt hear any more about it.
  11. Yep, just taking out logs when anyone phones up for a load, thats all until new year. You know I run 3 bars on my 660, 25" , 30" , and 36", if you need it afore you buy a new one. Thought i saw you at Beeston this morning.
  12. You can borrow my 660 if you're stuck and need it to do a job you've priced Dom.
  13. If you're caught taking 'free' firewood thats been left on the ground on forestry commission sites, they will be down on you like a ton of wet concrete my friend.
  14. Like others have said, having a bit of a blinking rest, and recharge my batteries. Just take a few logs out when anybody phones for a load.
  15. Well,as the man with new orthopedic shoes said - 'I stand corrected'.
  16. Yes, the front left hand tyre ,while sitting on the seat, is on backwards.
  17. You're right there Felix, i dont want to turn my toes up just yet.
  18. Ive been coughing all kinds of gunk up for months, but now since running all my stuff on Aspen for this past 2 or 3 weeks, my cough has gone. I dont know if its down to Aspen, but if it is, i'd like to say thanks to you Eddie. - Tim.
  19. Yes, i saw some primroses out last week.
  20. The hand cutters that i know would rather do anything than handcut full time. Arthritic and rheumatic from working for years in the pouring rain, or boiling up in summer in full safety kit, mosquitos biting your nuts off, with backs so bad they'd have trouble lifting a kitten up off the carpet, no, hand cut it yourself or get a harvester in.
  21. If its any consolation Jon, i took mrs up to hospital in the middle of the night few weeks ago. I put a 3 hour ticket on but didnt remember the time. When i came outside to buy another ticket they had put a sticky fine on my screen as i had gone over by 15 minutes or so. It was £50 reduced to £25 if paid within so many days. So i paid up.
  22. Yes thats right Mike,I have it in the back of my mind that the FC also rolled an enormous amount of the '87 timber into a lake or reservoir and kept it in there for quite a spell to keep it fresh, that was over Brandon way too, cant exactly remember where though.
  23. Tarmac laid
  24. Yes i saw that, i said to mrs oldwoodcutter "oh look at that silly fellow" or words to that effect. She continued knitting a babys cardigan, completely disinterested.
  25. Wonder if they suffer from the timber fairies helping themselves of a sunday morning.
