  1. you say no more than 40 seconds, you are only allowed 30 afaik? Ive got about 50 ringtones of varying genres, its awkward at first but once you do a few its easier to do.
  2. As you wedge the screwdriver in the circlip. Put your hand behind it. Be careful not to slip out and give yourself a new fangled piercing
  3. I'll be doing those 3. In that order
  4. I'll try and get some pics up of our town stock. There's one area with a couple of churches with a great set of veterans. There's a huge roadside oak easily 6ft plus dbh. Would love to climb it one day!
  5. I've kissed them. Not in a wired way. No feelings attached But this takes tree hugger to a whole new level!
  6. I love that defender. Is that a bowler? Would look super cool as an arb truck! I'm looking forward to my Saturday visit now!
  7. Having to do only one cut is better. As there's no pause between cutting incase it's a bit of a nasty wind or if the tree is rotten. Your only stopping when you hit the hinge. Not when you have to go round the other side and finish it off.
  8. I'm there on saturdee. Spending my uni bursary bonus and student loan! Woohoo!
  9. I've got into a habit of doing high gobs. Leaving a stump I then need to cut off. From doing site clearance and being asked to leave 50cm stumps for diggers to get hold of. It's ok for small stuff but when it's a bigger tree it's awkward to slice off because it want to sit down and pinch my saw. Although wedges to help
  10. No pics of the fruiting bodies? It looks like a brittle fracture which is why the break was so clean
  11. Whatever was left on the patio needs clearing up. It doesn't seem to be environmentally friendly!
  12. I got a £500 bursary at the end of august. With my student loan hopefully coming through aswell. I'll have lots of shiny toys this time next week!
  13. its against my intentions usually, but had to re-top 3 birch used as a tall hedge at the back of a garden, easy climbs, fun climbs actually, get to the top, start up the 200t and spin around. however when moving around i found the decayed branch stub, pulled myself up on it a bit too hard and crack off it came in my hand! if you think about what we do to hedges, they are topped and shaped maybe a couple of times a year, and they have no problems, they come back fine.
  14. I did have a br420 until Saturday night. I liked it's power. Would buy a new one if I coukd get a good price
  15. I didn't think nails were known for the girth. Surely a bend just makes it difficult when your hammering it in?
  16. Oo er, what does the mrs think?
  17. Well that was some interesting reading! I think we may get something out the insurance. But for what the blower is worth it may be easier just to buy one as our excess may be more than a new blower. Gonna be looking at the apf. What would e a good replacement? I like the power of the br420 but would think something like a bg56/86 with a vacuum set too to leave sites extra tidy for those customers who want it tidier than before I got there!
  18. I've got a xtc fire for you to splice if you'd like while your there. I'll be there with my stihl mag cool shirt and a stihl backpack full of goodies for myself! I'll make myself known at the arbtalk tent. Would definately like to meet some of the guys and have a beer. I won't be having many as I'm the designated driver/on my todd!
  19. Any engine would benefit from ahold bit of tlc in the right places! In our BMW 330d we put a diesel TunIt! Chip. Plug and play. Works great. Adjustable power settings and there will be one setting that's optimal for each engine. Got one for our d40 navara and there's no more turbo lag anymore. It's great. They are made for all diesel engines. They make them for almost all diesel engines. I keep wanting one for our tractor!
  20. In a huff today. Noticed the back of my truck was open as I went to my lockup this morning. Leafblower was in there. Not anymore. There was some other hand tools in there. Couple of rakes. Shovel and a litterpicker. Big stihl bag with mystein jacket and lid and my new berghaus waterproof. Only the blower was taken but they had a snoop around the rest of the stuff. Front was untouched. It was a 2001 br420 backpack blower. Only had the short tube on it. Was from eccleston st Helens in merseyside. I'm glad that's all there was!
  21. nice one rich, those top handles are like arborist porn when new, and even more so when they didnt cost you a penny!
  22. ppe is designed to be chainsaw protective i.e. minimise injury, not chainsaw proof
  23. i have a 20m length that i will be getting spliced at the apf, i like the 16 strand yale ropes, feel good in the hand, grip hitches really well and good for throwing as theres plenty weight to them.
  24. i thought the new model magnums were just a name with little to no change in power, but the older ones, going back say 10 years, there was a fair difference so buying a magnum would give you a better saw. i want a 660 magnum though *drool*
  25. a saw probably would rip them out instead of snagging against metal wires. the class 1 protective materials are 20m/s which is a fair speed, but it would only be rundown when you are most likely to dig it into a body part. i snagged just above my knee on rundown, got two small holes from two cutters, was almost stopped and i only got two small holes in the outer fabric
