  1. We should all have name badges for the newbies! Not that I'll med one my face is unique! I'll be there for one of the days. Maybe two if I'm allowed by the mrs!
  2. But do they actually belong to someone else?
  3. Neigh! As others have said. Get some training a knowhow on what your dealing with. You can't go gung ho on any piece of wood you think would be ok. Even if it seems like nobody owns it. As someone will!
  4. Saw this in the farmers trader today. I want one!
  5. Well I'll go by what you say Hama. I used my new Collins fungi book and I thought it was a gano. But I'm still not very clued up about which fungi do what. As in when they come out to play!
  6. I've managed to go down an 8 level multi storey without using a gear. Was entertaining. You'd almost stopped by the time you were at the next ramp so you never really went that fast
  7. I rarely get jobs that take all day. Mainly a bit of conny bashing or hedge cutting. Longest I've done is 9 hours. Shortest was probably 2 and a half.
  8. The gano is on a different tree to the one with the failure. It seems like there was a rot pocket formed on the failed limb along with some included bark. There were some strong winds blowing today. Very gusty.
  9. Well if you can call cooing pigeons in nearby leylandii an applauding croud. Then yes i did!
  10. Spotted these whilst out and about today, the failure was in the middle of the local park, girlfriend actually spotted it, i think im rubbing off a bit on her haha! Lime failure, pretty hollow inside, could get my head in at the bottom and was hollow as far as i could see even with a light. Dropped pretty much half of its crown, seemed otherwise healthy. Some FBs on an oak aswell, couple of the buttresses seem to be a bit worse for wear. From what my fungi book tells me, are these Ganoderma resinacium?
  11. It did! I don't think to take any but I think I've got one somewhere! I will start to take more just for you frank!
  12. I only ever use small gobs if I'm climbing and using a silky say on a small branch. When I'm felling I use a pretty 'standard' size. On ones where I need that extra weight on the front I'll cut a bit deeper. But usually I'm never more than 25-30%. If it's small trees say up to 6" diameter or a 10' high pole I will put a larger than average gob because it's easier. I had to knock over a dead ash stem. About 6' high and 15" diameter. Half rotten from daldinia. Big gob. I left a hinge about 1cm thick and it wouldn't fall over even with a big gob in it. Just gave it a nudge and it fell nicely then.
  13. I just face downhill and dip the clutch. Easiest way down! Make sure it's only like a multi story car park when you do that though! I've never done serious off roading. Use to go over big mounds of soil and stuff of my old quad. Managed to roll it once though. I couldn't keep my weight on the corner and hold the brake at the same time so I bailed and it followed me down sideways!
  14. if its written as a selective herbicide then you should be ok. we used a stem injector, there were a couple of guys who invented one and we bought a couple (not cheap at £150 each) but we found it so effective we would visit the site once, inject every single stem with neat glyphosate and then it would work, we acheived a 95%+ control rate, the only ones that didnt die are the ones that you missed! Can be done any time of year too. The method we used to use was spraying with glyphosate or pistol or a mixture of both and this was done in fall when the plants were 'sucking back' their resources to sprout again the year after, as they would be pulling it back into the root system, this gave us a 90% control rate in 1-2 applications.
  15. I'm rob and I'm an alcoholic. Whoops wrong thread I'm 5'7" and 10.5 stone. My bmi clocks in at 22 ish. According to the wii fit.
  16. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8D-5XvXl_U]YouTube - stupid guy tries to catch falling tree[/ame] Should be right now!
  17. Come on then, who is it?
  18. I'm assuming a chainsaw? I would take the oil out and then check the filter. I tend to give them a good shake and sometimes it works again. But only shortly. Just to get some of the oil through the tank. Usually just a bit of rubbish stuck in it
  19. but what if they say 'me too!' and ask wheres your settlement!
  20. I've been told using the missus knickers either side isn't a good idea. Mainly for longevity of yourself! I'm yet to invest in such a fun tool. Eventually will though!
  21. Clutches going everywhere. Is it their migrating season? I've had my car done in the past 2 months and we've just had two trucks give theirs up two weeks on the trot! If there was accommodation and wages at the right price I'd do it. Would be a nice break!
  22. I had almost nothing through July. Been busy almost every available day in august. Got work for the next week or two keeping things ticking over
  23. Nice toy! I was expecting some sort of ladyfriend type of toy! I'd give one of my love spuds for a play with one of those for a bit! The saw, not the lady!
  24. you can trials of office 2010 now off microsoft and they give you a key for it, i had office enterprise on a CD, which required no key at all, just install and run.
