  1. I just used a needle when I got my finger bashed by a hockey stick. Although I then found that I just had to stab the tip of my finger as it wasn't under the nail. Part of the nail was blak but just underneath.
  2. It's built up now for it's intended purpose. And there are further modifications planned. Don't have any piccies just yet. But we are planning on a utility type canopy with a roller shutter either side and a nice big door at the back for storage. In black of course!
  3. You may be able to use our place. Although it may be too far out your way. Looking at 30 mins from Salford.
  4. No I don't own anything protect with husqvarna on it. Nor do I live near hills that steep!
  5. I weigh 10.5 stone. I'm nowhere near using that stuff as a ladder! I use blunt pruning spikes so they don't jam in as far but they slip a lot so I leave trees with tiger stripes! And a 3strand strop that's all frayed and just tied onto my harness
  6. I left because he wanted me to join him. I said how very dare you and slapped him with my handbag and stormed off in a huff! It must of been those womens glasses I found confusing him! Oh the mrs loved them too!
  7. i suppose you do, i dont have a name that reflects my work, so i dont have to live up to it!
  8. Thank you David. I never aspired to be much. All I knew was I wanted to be a business man. When I had first thoughts that meant a guy with a briefcase in the city. Doing his 9-5 like a bit of a lemming! I never expected anything close to what I've done. I was bought my 260 when I was 16. Used that and loved it. 6 months later I did cs30-34! I was into it then. But when I got climbing is when I really got into it. Starting the degree is another fantastic career choice. Which I would recommend to anyone. Unless they already had it! Joining this place has truly inspired me! The people are great. I can always find something good to read and I enjoy the banter!
  9. It's a habit I try to play down! But I'll be locked securely in the front! Away from stray hairy rum drinking meteor tennis playing arbs!
  10. Well I think I'll be trying on a lot of boots at this fancy show then. But I think the Colour may be a factor. Not that I'm doing it to annoy mr Spencer
  11. It must be those shoddy tree services you offer!
  12. it did indeed. going through the pics it doesnt look too bad at first. Hence why i only thought it would be a day. Ian: i agree with your statements there! Although over the past 6 months i have made sure i have a good range of gear so that i can tackle jobs and what they throw at me, ive got friends who will help me out, the chipper i used was a friend who ive done a bit of work for and some favours, said that while im starting out, if i need the chhipper, i can use it for free! its just a bit of hassle because its tractor mounted and i need to take a trailer aswell. i would like to go back and do the job, and take more people on the first day. slow the climber down and get things done bish bash bosh!
  13. i was toying with that idea tbh, but as there wasnt a huge amount of weight to increase the force on the lean, i chose a standard cut instead. Although im still a bit gutted it didnt make a big thud!
  14. i was a cuttin as a fast as i coulda! i put the ear in one side, i dont know why i decided not to do it on the other, i started marking out my back cut instead as it was ont he way round. ah well. ed: ive seen those boys, what a bunch o looneys
  15. which one do you have? i got a 4, because we could so we did! ive had this new spangled firmware since it came out in june, i likey!
  16. the lad who filmed it shouted timber. it was a big gob on it too. didnt want too big as i didnt want to find rotten wood, but it was all sound, it was purely the hinge! I chuckle as i watch it, as i could see it hitting the deck, and it just didnt. ive nver had that happen!
  17. if they allow you to sleep in vehicles parked inthe car park, ill have room in the back of a pickup, covered on top but only mesh at the back. ill be in the cab with a sheet over the windows.
  18. get a tramp stamp, that has the stihl logo or husqvarna, whichever is better!
  19. ill keep those in mind, ive heard good reviews about those too so i shall be giving them a go
  20. Heres the video, i kept the hinge nice and big to keep him slow, although i left a tad too much on the right hand side, and hence what happened! watch and see! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAlFI7EmKME]YouTube - Big willow tree fell[/ame]
  21. We spent some time splitting logs that wouldnt quite go through the chipper (12" TW) so that was taking time to sort them. gave up in the end, was just taking too much time. its either gladiators or x fits, i think x fits are the choce for me tbh!
  22. if i did, i would have everything colour coded just for you haha. although, i do like those gladiators, ive got a red regatta jacket, maybe some new boots if i like them, i just dont have a red lid, that will have to stay grey. ill be like a walking, er, red thing! to clear the trouser issue up, thats not me! ed, if you could have got all that in one trailer load, i would actually turn up at my next job in just my boots. i did plan for one day, the stuff was coming down so fast, there was very little time to grab stuff, as much as it was getting at my OCD to have a tidy site. the drag was about 40m, between two hedges that im sure had hands to grab whatever you pulled past.
  23. ill be trying them all on to see how they fit. as im ont mega busy this pair will last a while. Ill have a pair of haix up for sale if anybody wants them. size 10 i think they look cool! although i do agree they look a bit gay. i can wear them to match this new outfit!
  24. can you imagine that explanation 'sorry honey, your gear just isnt good enough!'
  25. So, after a month from first going to look at this tree. seeing its faults, and realising this will be a good challenge. 2 days, one 8 hour day and a 12 hour day the next. expected two trailer loads max, and this trailer is a big 12t agri trailer. 2 full loads of chip, 2 loads of brash and remaining logs. wow. Got some good pics, a cracking experience was had, weather held out both days. Video is going to youtube as i post this. two pictures with the split were the split noticed in the scaffold limb to one side, i think thats a pretty good reason for it to split, as a lot of the wood was like this. at the points where the ferns were growing out of the cavity, there was only occluding bark on the opposite side, with two ribs of wood about 6" thick either side covering round 3/4 of the stem. Some good sights on this one, was a shame to take it down, but i loved it to be honest. This was a bit of a make or break moment so far for me, my biggest job yet. With it being a big oversight as to how much volume was being removed, but with the help of a couple friends, i stopped myself from letting it get me down and i grit my teeth, dug my heels in and kept going. 20 hours on site in total, 7 hours sleep between it.
