  1. its against my intentions usually, but had to re-top 3 birch used as a tall hedge at the back of a garden, easy climbs, fun climbs actually, get to the top, start up the 200t and spin around. however when moving around i found the decayed branch stub, pulled myself up on it a bit too hard and crack off it came in my hand! if you think about what we do to hedges, they are topped and shaped maybe a couple of times a year, and they have no problems, they come back fine.
  2. I did have a br420 until Saturday night. I liked it's power. Would buy a new one if I coukd get a good price
  3. I didn't think nails were known for the girth. Surely a bend just makes it difficult when your hammering it in?
  4. Oo er, what does the mrs think?
  5. Well that was some interesting reading! I think we may get something out the insurance. But for what the blower is worth it may be easier just to buy one as our excess may be more than a new blower. Gonna be looking at the apf. What would e a good replacement? I like the power of the br420 but would think something like a bg56/86 with a vacuum set too to leave sites extra tidy for those customers who want it tidier than before I got there!
  6. I've got a xtc fire for you to splice if you'd like while your there. I'll be there with my stihl mag cool shirt and a stihl backpack full of goodies for myself! I'll make myself known at the arbtalk tent. Would definately like to meet some of the guys and have a beer. I won't be having many as I'm the designated driver/on my todd!
  7. Any engine would benefit from ahold bit of tlc in the right places! In our BMW 330d we put a diesel TunIt! Chip. Plug and play. Works great. Adjustable power settings and there will be one setting that's optimal for each engine. Got one for our d40 navara and there's no more turbo lag anymore. It's great. They are made for all diesel engines. They make them for almost all diesel engines. I keep wanting one for our tractor!
  8. In a huff today. Noticed the back of my truck was open as I went to my lockup this morning. Leafblower was in there. Not anymore. There was some other hand tools in there. Couple of rakes. Shovel and a litterpicker. Big stihl bag with mystein jacket and lid and my new berghaus waterproof. Only the blower was taken but they had a snoop around the rest of the stuff. Front was untouched. It was a 2001 br420 backpack blower. Only had the short tube on it. Was from eccleston st Helens in merseyside. I'm glad that's all there was!
  9. nice one rich, those top handles are like arborist porn when new, and even more so when they didnt cost you a penny!
  10. ppe is designed to be chainsaw protective i.e. minimise injury, not chainsaw proof
  11. i have a 20m length that i will be getting spliced at the apf, i like the 16 strand yale ropes, feel good in the hand, grip hitches really well and good for throwing as theres plenty weight to them.
  12. i thought the new model magnums were just a name with little to no change in power, but the older ones, going back say 10 years, there was a fair difference so buying a magnum would give you a better saw. i want a 660 magnum though *drool*
  13. a saw probably would rip them out instead of snagging against metal wires. the class 1 protective materials are 20m/s which is a fair speed, but it would only be rundown when you are most likely to dig it into a body part. i snagged just above my knee on rundown, got two small holes from two cutters, was almost stopped and i only got two small holes in the outer fabric
  14. He's cheating by clipping in!
  15. I'll see you there kev. I'll be going for the Saturday would stay over for a night but can't get two days on the run which sucks. I want to get in on this meteor tennis!
  16. I'd try and make the Friday evening but I'm in till 4 at Myerscough. Unless they have other plans. Will have to find out! The Thursday is a possibility. I thought it was fri-sun?
  17. How about some sort of saw blade attached to an engine? The lanyard that Retracts like a seatbelt idea I like skyhuck. Unclip and zzziipp bang! It's all back in! Some sort of sign the public actually read is my thought!
  18. I'll be there on Saturday. Myerscough want me in on Fridays so I'll make a single day out of Saturday. Who will I be bumping in to on Saturday? I'll be the one trying on the shiny red boots!
  19. That's just cheating. I bet you put that giant hand there to stop it!
  20. I would have used the bucket to put a line in the tree at a couple of high points and then just felled it at the bottom. Only thing to hit near the shrubs would have been the main stem. Which wwas thin enough to land in the gap.
  21. i started the second year of my fdsc at myerscouh today, to find ive got thursdays off, so i didnt even need to come in!
  22. happy birthday stevie let this year be as good as and better than the last!
  23. You've done everything you can then. In this claim culture you'd expect the person to claim for leaving a pile of wood in the road!
  24. Scary stuff. Must have been an impurity for it to fail like that
  25. You can always try envirophone. They give decent prices for the 32gb when I sent mine in I got 220. It was 250 but it had dropped. Probably with the amount of people upgrading to the iPhone 4.
