  1. Not had any but I think I'm going to get a pair of Sip innovation boots soon, I don't think they are water proof, but thats ok, but look as if they will be really supple and flexible.
  2. Its actually called Marble Gall, as its appearance suggests, and what Sloth said.
  3. OK, not wishing to get too technical now, the best and most efficient way to maintain through air flow and combustion and to minimize residual combustible buildup (Tar) from within a standard 225mm internal flue lining (Clay pipe lining) is best achieved by a steady evening burn of ones arizings , this method also contributes greatly to the green ethos to which we are as citizens of this great country and Beings of planet Earth are duty bound and inspired to do so, the way in which we conduct our self's should be considered when carrying out this act, it should not be done without appreciation of the act, as you open the stove door and throw in your EMPTY Can of Beer, or Can of Coke you will be treating you flue and the environment and most importantly of all your self to trouble free running of your stove, once a year sweep the flue and you will be very surprised at how little residue falls out. You will of also enjoyed yourself. I'v just been cleaning my flue

I did think their was one which also flowered winter time
  5. Cricky Tony, ant never had that sort of fun even with 7.62 flying over me head did you need a change of under garments
  6. As a young chap starting of, it was most things but you tried not to show it, and went up everything, as an old 50 year old I still go up now and then just to see if I'v still got it and if the fear has returned, so far even on big stuff it means nothing, not even a hint of excitement, no thrill or fear, but a nice feeling dropping timber and rigging it down, slightly therapeutic.
  7. Please do tell as I am not, asbestos-is ? what are the issues .
  8. Done quite a lot of trips up north in a day ,the round trip is about 400 miles, longest round trip so far has been close to Sutton on sea, just under 500 miles, trip was fine, picked up a pto log splitter which went on the back, steady 70 apart from m25, 2011 puma. with air con.

    Tree ID

I see what your saying about Liquidamber , but staying with the Acers it looks like Acer miyabei to me.
  10. I have seen Meripilus take on that sort of form, it too had to push its way up through a thick poly black membrane which was covered with gravel. It did then after a few weeks develop into the more typical form.
  11. Could the Oak have been the only tree that was relocated ? , I have seen this type of condition occur on trees we have had to move as an alternative to felling, young trees less than 150mm 5837 , saying that, 5837 came out in 2005 so could be anything but I'd be inclined to think historical ground level disturbance to be a main consideration or trenching.
  12. As I am actually now blind and have to rely on my guide dog Daniel to inter prate information of a visual nature , I could only pass judgment from a taste test, Both look pretty good to Dan. My friends now call me Glaucoma Kid, and some just call me Roy
  13. Sorry to go on, but I'd just liken the Mistletoe to a nagging wife, you'd just shut your eyes early and pretend to be asleep
  14. If I close my eyes in the afternoon to inspect the back of my eyelids , does it mean I'm dead ??? or is it just because I'm tired and old, the old Aesculus has one of the largest leaf structure's, timings for its flush are climatic dependent ,it then has to try and last a very unpredictable summer climate ( Native Region Greece.) so more often than not, if it drops its leaves early its really just trying to say, for Christ sake give me some better weather. And I often feel the same.
  15. I suspect that the buds are already swelling large and are sticky ready for an early flush next year. First to flush and first to drop.
  16. It is against all readings doing very well.
  17. Toni, I forgot about this one, I have pulled me pants down on this one, I'd like to hear / value your thoughts ,. always value what you think.
  18. Hi, now I know folks may not wish to divulge, I have done Hedge laying over the years not full time, but odd jobs over 15 or 20 or so years, up hill it has to be because of the sap, whats the going rate ? I know it depends on type and style and single or double, and stem diameter and timber away or stay, my rate varied from £6.50 upwards to £15 a meter is that still about ok ????? Should also say I am good at it, nothing like blowing your own trumpet.
  19. Hi Sloth, I may be having a Blond moment but are they ' John Downie' the redness is their but they are on the round side ???
  20. I like to try and keep it simple
  21. Did you like my analogy with Usain Bolt the willows are the sprinters of the tree world.
