I will go one further now, in training when encountering the enemy at close quarter, when you are ordered to fix bayonets , and attack, with a stabbing motion , screaming, as you try to disembowel your enemy, you don't first check that they are OK, YOU AIM TO GO STRAIGHT THROUGH THEM. sorry if this is putting anyone off there tea.

My friend, war is nasty, people die, the big problem is the media only wishes to hear the fairy stories, and true life in the combat field is not like that. Nothing nasty is intended by my input the only thing I stand to gain from being vocal is unfortunately disrespect.

Please don't bottle it , try to think of the worst day of your life , x it by 10 or more if you already receive medical support for depression on life ie ( Fungi, trees, Stihl ms200, OR Husky or not , work , staff ) then try to think of a day as a serviceman , on the front line, fighting for YOU, TRYING NOT TO BE BLOWN UP BY AN IED OR TO BE SHOT, sorry cap locks stuck on bit, then consider mne A's position ................Life ,come on I'm sorry , but I' m going all out in support of mne A.

Thank god for Arbtalk. Didn't take too long to get a response. Lets just hope this mne does not have to serve a LIFE SENTENCE, I am going to be as vocal as I can.

Random one this but just thought I would be vocal and go on line in support of mne A, ok............ life on the front line is dire, the worst life experience you could ever expect, death in your face its repulsive, judgments when DEMANDED need to be taken in a second, to casivac one man takes 2 or 3 men, to casivac someone who has been trying to kill you and is on there last breaths ????? you deal with it , or otherwise the effort taking that casualty out (enemy) could result in another casualty from your side. I can't believe that this mam is looking at a life sentence, surly if anything , as a token gesture to the Genevar convention it should only have been a manslaughter charge. Signed mne J. I have also written to my local BBC. IN SUPPORT.
  6. I can't stop my self either,. Amenity, lots of different ways to value a tree, species, location, how many and who can see it ?, that's a start, for me whats also important ,is it the best tree for that location, can it be left alone , (not routinely maintained in size) for me the best examples are trees which can stand alone or as groups which have little pressure / conflict about there existence, A large tree like this Beech should have been allowed to develop to its full potential, once topped or heavily reduced and done repeatedly , to me its value is lost, Incorporate a serious defect, disease, disorder in association with any moderate to high value targets and all Amenity value is lost, its true form would be better seen after leaf abscission, the poor quality historical pruning works would be for all to see, the constant leaflet drops ,door knocking and questions from rouge traders - 'Do you want your tree topped ?' have put the nail in the coffin for this tree, spend as much money as you like now on consultants, its days are numbered, better to remove and replace.
  7. One such company closer to you Tree & Palm Injection Treatment | Arbor Jet | Residential & Commercial Lawn Care | Crestview, Fort Walton, Destin Also try Orborjet
  8. Try and look up this http://www.intechopen.com/download/pdf/27799 Tree Injection as an alternative method of insecticide application.
  9. Larvae exit holes from a Beetle infestation, simple answer to what extent the tree has been affected ??? Tap with a small hammer around the area of bark where the exit holes are , it should sound hollow , then extend the area you tap around the tree and listen for the different notes, sound wood is easy to differentiate from unsound wood which is subject to an infestation like that, and judging by the amount of sawdust on the floor that extensive. If it extends all around the trunk you have a problem. There are company's in the US who can inject trees and treat once the insect has been identified, but the other problem could be from what other things its carrying ie Vector carrying a Pathogen, good luck.
  10. In fact, I could get quite angry about this, just look at the trees stem diameter , take a moment, look again at the photo, look at its height in relation to its stem ???? the owner responsible for commissioning such restrictive pruning works should be ashamed. That tree should probably be 2 to 3 times the height it is now. Thats not a tpo'd tree nor in a CA, such works would never of been permitted . It did once upon a time have great potential, all I see now is a very low quality tree, with LOW amenity value, representing a unacceptable level of risk.
  11. And if anyone is going to start screaming at me, think about this, its also previously had no consideration given to its well being , its previously been topped, pruning wounds have probably provided the entry points for the Pathogen, Merip its amenity value is in terms of a Beech tree as it is, is worthless . So thats it, take it down.
  12. You are spot on, I consult for a living , and on this tree and Merip so close to the road its very clear advice I would be giving, section fell and replace with another tree.
  13. All of whats been said, and if its Derek B hes just fantastic, calm, collective, and to the point. Now, for extra points, within your specifications of your survey be very detailed, when making a recommendation. eg to Fell , for example, go into detail......, Section Fell to ground level, all arizings to be removed from site by the appointed contractor, stump to be ground to a depth of 300mm below ground level, mulch removed from site and pit backfield with clean field top soil. Surface dressed with grass seed ? grams per m2 . see what I'm suggesting . also be decisive , make a judgment and be very clear on what you recommend.
  14. Phot 1 yes ok, Phot 2 ok if you like that sort of thing Phot 3 beautiful, makes my mouth WETTTT. Phot 4 oooor baby, thats my sort of drinking hole , lucky, lucky you, Holidays ??????????????
  15. Looks like Rigidopurus ulmarius to me.
  16. Good call , I would say long term over consecutive winters. Salt that is.
  17. Second that, its what I believe it to be would also say looking at those old pruning wounds take a close look for Phiellinus tuberculosus if need be look a little higher in the crown.
  18. You have it Tony, I men't it, and lucky you, its great to see a new chapter develop in your life, world wide web, you will never be far away. and Arbtalk is a hard one to leave alone.
  19. And please don't anyone think I'm a jump t up armhole , I have had a very hard life.
  20. Tony, I consider myself to be one, don't care what anyone else thinks ,I have worked hard from the gutter to now, tools to pen, AA I'm happy with that interpretation, of me now ,a working class acknowledgment, that's how I interpret it. M.Arbor.A That's as close as I will probably get, but that's OK, Insurance company's happy with it and I also get involved with the odd expert witness stuff, in fact lots of different clients ask advice and pay well for it , you never stop the process of learning and it took me 6 years of adult education including a stint at university , its been hard work and cost a lot of money but at least now having semi downed the tools I can derive an income using my brain and a pen. In my view knowing you I would consider you worthy of an Honorary award, based on that you are a distinguished individual who merits special recognition for your genuine achievement in the field of Arboriculture, one day I'm sure you will achieve recognition , but remember you heard it here first from me . forget the negativity resonating from this thread, we should all strive to better ourselves . Nothing more than a skilled laborer, I think not.
  21. At the end of the day its just your choice if that's the route you choose to follow, one other factor ,if your going to start producing reports and inspecting trees at a professional level you need PI insurance and most if not all insurance company's require some bench mark acknowledgment of your ability to provide such a service. The Arb Association nicely provide recognizable levels of achievement, simple to follow and understand, and you can simply progress one level at a time, either as your funds permit or as your brain permits .
  22. Isn't it because on a digger the engine and belts primary role is to drive the hydraulics and not a heavy fly wheel which is constantly being knocked to a stop by cross sectional wood , this is why the hydraulic drive stump grinders will go on much longer than conventional belt driven ones. Modern 360 diggers are only driven by small HP engines, just to drive the pump.
  23. Arb Association has already clarified this question , level 5 , and they promote CPD in a big way.
