  1. And no, it isn't him. The guy in question has to my knowledge spent nearly a whole day cutting with a blunt chain, put a back cut in 3 inches below his gob cut and fairly recently took down a TPO tree on a PJ whilst working for somebody else.
  2. Spike knows who I am talking about.
  3. I'll see your NPTC qualified and useless, and raise you ISA qualified as well.
  4. Got one in an identical state where I am. Looked very poorly all this year so going to see what it looks like next year before deciding what to do with it.
  5. Charles Hey and Treecology are both in your neck of the woods.
  6. Ah, sorry, my mistake. I had already had a look online and found the bit about the solenoid on a Landy or 4x4 forum.
  7. Done deed, mate. It was already fitted and not working before I 'liberated' the wagon it's on.
  8. Fixed that for you, mate.
  9. Definitely won't be one of those if it came from Forest and Arb.
  10. Seen those for £50 rather than £200 for Britpart one.
  11. I've just 'inherited' a Land Rover Defender from the company fleet to use for estate purposes. It has a Britpart DB 9500i winch on the front bumper which hasn't worked for a while. It also has no cable on it but I think I have that sitting on a spool in my office. I have 2 questions about it; 1) How do I put the cable back on it? 2) When I try to run it, I get a single click and no movement. I'm assuming the click is the solenoid so, other than check the earth and connections, what should I try? Thanks in advance for all helpful suggestions.
  12. Good to see another Arbtalker in yesterday who I hadn't seen for a while. Don't forget, if you need to unload chip or logs near Junction 13 of the A12 or Junction 28 of the M25 then just pm me for phone number.
  13. Ok, to be fair, for 'not illegal' read 'highly unlikely to be actionable'.
  14. Petty but not illegal.
  15. Ashby's a good old boy Plenty of good firewood there, mate.
  16. Lot of stuff down our way, Joe. We only lost one tree on the estate but most of that ended up over the sluice which drains the lake. There was still a large Oak crown on the deck in a neighbour's field with power cables underneath it when I left last night. We had to get the saw out several times once we were off the main roads on the way in. Stay safe everybody.
  17. It rubs the lotion into its skin.
  18. Careful, Geoff will headhunt her.
  19. Thanks for the link, mate.
  20. Hope nobody's answer this morning to the original question is 'the roof'.
  21. Blowy here now. Told my mate to stay put and I'll pick him up rather than him cycle over along the seafront. Got a saw in the truck ready for the journey to work and just about to do a flask as well.
  22. Take it steady if you get called out. I run an estate near Ingatestone so might see you about over there.
