  1. Flywheel came off ok. Recoil spring was covered in crap so cleaned it off in petrol and reassembled. It still seems a bit tired and slow to rewind but I can't find anywhere to buy just the spring without the pulley etc. I also will need a fuel line for it as it isn't sealing in the fuel tank so I shudder to think what state it is in along the rest of it. Any ideas where to look for these online?
  2. And as you now already know that tape doesn't meet that standard, you would be unable to rely on its use a defence if the worst should happen.
  3. Ditto, but charge for the admin that you have already done.
  4. With Stobarts tightening the purse strings, we can take unwanted chip if you are near the Ingatestone/Brentwood area and need to tip off rather than run it all the way home. We do a nice cuppa too.
  5. Bit of a sweeping statement. Ramblers are often the only people who will fight to keep rights of way open when land owners like the charming van Hoogstraaten try to block them.
  6. Told him it was the equivalent of doing PE in your pants for forgetting your kit.
  7. I told Spike that he had to use it as he hadn't brought a strimmer with him.
  8. 1 tonne Sankey which is fine for being towed around the estate behind my Isuzu. Only issue with it was I had to put a height-adjustable hitch and a combination towball on the truck but when a decent trailer is offered to you for £250, you don't mind.
  9. If you don't need the money or the space, keep them both.
  10. He got it off Geoff.
  11. Sorry to stay off topic, Spud. Geoff, when you drop the chip off, mention the Scythe then. I think one of the guys who did the work on it is also called Geoff.
  12. No apology needed. I haven't looked at it myself but if you coud post a pic that might be helpful.
  13. They are happy for you to bring your metal detector and could do with picking your brains about an Allen Scythe that will only turn one way.
  14. I think Arb is very similar to driving. A qualification is something that allows you to go out and start learning.
  15. I used to get £120 a day for me with a 357 and my axe.
  16. Cheers mate. It's only one that was laying around at St L's. I thought I would see if I could sort it out as a spare for Ian to practise on. Btw, shame you couldn't make it yesterday. I think you might grow to like the 'drome.
  17. Ok, I will give it a try if I get a chance to disappear into the workshop tomorrow.
  18. Cheers both, will give it a (gentle) go tomorrow.
  19. Seriously???
  20. Is that a sawn end underneath it?
  21. Phew, I thought somebody had been despoiling our lovely county.
  22. I think you can ask the mods to do it for you.
  23. That's bad, mate. Where was it?
  24. Did somebody want 'their' view improved? My first suspect would be any developers nearby who would benefit.
  25. I have a Makita DCS 340 from the late 1990s with the starter cord hanging out. I've got the nut off the flywheel but can't see how to get the flywheel off to get to the starter pulley behind. There doesn't seem to be any room to get a puller around it? Help!!!!
