  1. Are you sure they aren't just going to give him your invoice for him to pay? Make sure your invoice is made out to the management company, making it their bill and not his, as it might save you a long wait for your money, assuming your t&c's mention payment in a fixed time.
  2. Thanks! I'll have a poke around on Westlaw or Lexis.
  3. Very good point. Easy to be tripped up by that in the early days. I would also say that the price you put on this job will follow you through any recommendations you get from it so don't price yourself too low.
  4. Given that paid holidays in an employment (ie not self-employed) contract is a statutory entitlement set out in the EU Directive on Working Time 1998, requiring all employees to have four weeks paid leave over each year, what was their reason for this?
  5. Have you got a citation for that? I'd be interested to read the reasoning.
  6. Got one that only gets used for strimming, nothing heavier duty.
  7. Zero hours contract?
  8. It's worth the same as a cube of split seasoned Ash. Your overheads, assuming you are asking as a producer and not a buyer, are exactly the same. Edit; Just make sure that whoever is buying it knows it is unseasoned.
  9. Whenever I see the pictures of the famous people that my employer has met, Mandela is always the one that makes me think 'I wish had I been there that day'. An incredible statesman and a great inspiration. Rest in peace, Madiba, your long walk is done.
  10. Just to rub it in.
  11. Or a dropper.
  12. Put your bill in and move on. No reason for you to feel foolish.
  13. I would hope most subbies work the same way and it's good that it cuts both ways with you. I know of a climber who brought his GRCS to a job then got lumbered with the repair bill when it got broken . I snagged a gatepost with a trailer once and coughed up for it, meaning I earned the princely sum of £12.50 for the day, before fuel and tax. My mistake, my bill. The plus side to it is if you're honest, you get asked back (unless it was a horrendous ricket ).
  14. Give me a chance to dig out the text books this evening and you're on.
  15. Bit of an in-joke, Daniel.I picked up a digger from Matt in a Ranger. It was a bit touch and go as to whether it would get out of his yard. I think it would have been easier in my Rodeo.
  16. Could be worse, Matt. Could be in a Ranger.
  17. Unfortunately, if he was working under your direction then legally he is most likely right. Morally is a different matter.
  18. I'm selling a Mazda crew cab X reg on Gumtree for £1450 but it is in Essex. It has been SORNed since November 2012 and the MOT ran out this July. PM me if you are interested.
  19. I remember those days. I picked up my first place on the back of it.
  20. A few years ago, my father was showing all the classic signs of bowel cancer. We watched him lose stones of weight and a stocky man who had always been the muscle of the family turned into a skinny old man before our eyes. The whole family were really concerned and the wait to see somebody on the NHS was so long as to really damage his chances of survival if that was what he had so we got him to have an endoscopy privately (with the very specialist he would have waited another few months to see on the NHS ). Fortunately, all was well so the doctor was chatting with my dad to try to ascertain the cause of the problem. As soon as my dad told him that he had been prescribed Diclofenac for knee problems, he told him that was the problem and advised him to get off of it straight away. He even got in touch with the GP to 'advise' him about the care he had given my dad. My advise to you is to get off it and stay off it.
  21. I have to get Ian out of it first.
  22. You're not having your old one back.
  23. Sorry Rich, I thought discussion was the point of a forum? I've got a job and am enjoying a weekend off. I was just pointing out to one member who seems to like picking a fight with another particular member and then playing the martyr that in this case he was very much mistaken.
  24. Surely if you offer to pay when you collect it, you aren't refusing to pay?
  25. Don't forget to take your ball with you.
