  1. In the 10 years i've been climbing never been asked to rescue anything I'm feeling sort of left out of the rescue club
  2. We lease our Macs through apple. £40 per month per mac. After three years they're ours. Looking on FleaBay, three year old macs are fetching about £700/£800. So win win. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Hi all, Been asked to have a stall at a local nature reserve festival promoting woodland crafts etc. Usual stuff, take the Alaskan, couple of log splitters etc. Going to get some A5 leaflets printed up, company advert on one side and advice for buying logs on the other. Got the advert side laid out ok but can't think what to put on the other 'advice' side. Already got the usual: Buy by volume not weight, get a moisture meter...... Other than that what else could i put ? Thanks in advance, Dave
  4. I've paid a grand for a days stump grinding before. Well worth it. The guy and his remote predator did in one day what would have taken me a week. 6/7' Pop Stumps took about 30 mins !!!!!
  5. went to the show last year. very good, but the firewood auction was a little disappointing. cubic meter hardwood was fetching around £40/45 sorry, but its not worth me bringing an arctic load over

  9. theres a guy near us selling good quality logs @ £45 per cube if anyone wants his number. Got his own wood so buying him out could be an expensive gamble. Mine are £80, take it or leave it.
  10. just replaced my 2 year old protector pros with a new pair. heard alot of reports of splitting at the sole but couldn't fault my last pair, they're at the menders at the minute to be repaired and used as a backup pair should these go belly up. stick with what you know
  11. Hi all, Got a HT131 with knackered shaft laying in the shed. One of our KM130R combo units is in need of a bit of tlc, new clutch, throttle cable. They look to be very similar engine units Has anyone ever done a swap over i.e. took the engine off a pole saw and stuck it on the drive shaft of a combi unit ? Thanks, Dave
  12. Natural selection lets put MORE dodgy info out there, that way, we'll thin out the weaker, thicker, nomadic members of our community. More work for the rest of us
  13. No buddy, All phones bought up front, then SIM only monthly contracts. Running five ATM
  14. no Jon, mixture of 3's, 4's, and 4S's I'm not as rich as you log barons
  15. i've got all my lot iphones 'off contract' saves a fortune on bills currently with T mobile, 300 mins, 5000 texts, unlimited internet £8 per month jackpot
  16. Too many people coming into the industry are expecting top dollar from day one. Had few young lads come looking for work, no skills, no track record, no transport. All fully expecting to earn £400/ £500 per week !!!!!
  17. Stihl 441 with a 20" bar. If you're cutting into rings in the wood, do your felling cut at a comfortable waist height. Keep your 'Birdsmouth' really open so the trunk stays attached to the stump. If the tree has remained attached to the stump, the trunk should be at a slight angle to the floor. Sned up from base to tip of trunk, then work back toward the base cutting logs. I'm 6' and the 20" bar means i hardly have to bend down. Use the top of the bar, and cut upwards so you don't trap the bar on the saw. As you work towards the butt end the angle will get steeper, but if you've left enough hinge, once you get near the butt the tree comes off the floor and you can cut your logs with the bottom of the bar. Takes a bit of practice to get the hinges right, but saves your back. Of course, this only works on thinnings upto say 10" but that what we're mainly cutting ATM Hope this helps Dave
  18. thats the daddy alex. not interested in it myself, still in love with my Jensen. just thought i'd flag it up in case anyone on here was thinking of having a bid if you think chippers are bad, try buying a Transit off ebay. got more offers to "deliver anywhere in the UK" for £50 as long as you pay by bank transfer up front () always a dodgy email address. always payment by bank transfer
  19. Just browsing ebay and came across this. DYNAMIC CONEHEAD 565 WOOD CHIPPER | eBay anyone know who's it is ? listing looks very suss to me thanks, dave
  20. felling in the wood, i'm on my own 90% of the time. ring our lass at dinner to make sure she's ok.. be careful, keep your phone handy, and charged
  21. If we do any dead trees we always bag the chip into vented bags to be sold. The chip off of these seems to last longer in the bags
  22. I heard somewhere that recent studies in the good old US of A have linked Glyphos with cancer !!!! Masks on lads
  23. Will it not fell into the car park, or is it just me looking for the easy option
  24. got loads in our wood. really tasty on the barby with some sweet chilly dipping sauce
  25. We caught some guys on the CCTV a couple of weeks ago. They'd stopped outside our gate, climbed on top of their Isuzu to peer over. Took the reg down and reported it to the police. Got a call last week from a mate on the force, they had been pulled in Mansfield, stealing dogs. My mate in the force says the dot thing is a hoax, but, as said above, its not worth risking your dogs. Apparently Cocker Spaniels are the favourite targets I've got two 9 year old bitches. I'd quite happily take the shotgun to who ever was trying to nick them.
