  1. We find ZHC work well for us. We pay by the shift and let all staff know ASAP what days they'll be working. The only exception to this are days when we're doing weather sensitive work, and it rains. In this case everyone receives a text at 06:30 ish, letting them know the days been cancelled. I'd love to be able to pay them a "rain off rate" but I'm afraid the business won't stand it. Opposite to this is the fact that as soon as the jobs done its home time. Also, if I make good money on a job I pass a little down the line. Our youngest labourer 19, no tickets, no license, but works like a good 'un, wants to be at work, and is conscientious takes home £300 for a five day week. Gets £100 for a Saturday or Sunday. Would I pay for his tickets.......no The last employee we trained up have nearly £3K's worth of training before leaving to set up on his own in direct competition to us. Subbys, or pay for your own tickets and we'll pay you more. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Believe it or not my local Jewsons will match any price I can find. Had a 201 and two 362's off him so far this year. Ordered a new A/V mount for one of the 361's, got a call to say it was in. Called in to pick it up and the fitter fitted it for me FOC, while I waited, and even made me a coffee while I waited. Not many dealers I've been to could compete with that Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App

  10. Too true there buddy. The last time we were in Bentley one of the vans windows got put through and some toe rag made off with a backpack blower. Hope there's no ladies of the night up in Middleton. We're fairly sure the young lad I'm taking on Monday is still a virgin. He gets very flustered if one of the female of the species makes contact with him. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. The guy we're doing the work for said exactly the same. Obviously one of Leeds' better areas. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App

  13. We got an 880 a few years ago from Justin at F R Jones At the time it worked out cheaper to buy with a 4' bar then buy the extra bars separate. We also run a 395XPG If I had a choice, the 880 would win every time. Which ever big saw you get, pay the extra and get heated handles. Your fingers will thank you Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. On a different vein. We were taking a large willow down for a couple in their 80's. 2 day job. In the mornings there were cheese toasties and coffee. Teas and coffees throughout the days. Soup at dinner Buttered scones at three o'clock. Felt guilty when I gave them my bill Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. 75% through a large landscaping job. Had 4 guys on it for the last three weeks. Already had 30% of the bill paid. We've got about two days left to do. The guy we're subbing the job off came today, had a good look round. Thanked the lads for their hard work, told us all that he's never had a set of contractors in who worked as hard or as diligently then told Me to stick another invoice in, this time for 50% of the total bill and he'd bacs it over on Tuesday. Wish all firms paid this well !!!!!! Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App

  17. don't know about prices in your area but we sell a 10' x 6' tipper full of rings for £50-£70 straight from site, depending on quality and species.
  18. Don't see what the problem is with accepting cash, and even offering a small discount. One of our largest corporate customers insists on a 5% discount for immediate payment. We're happy to give this in the full knowledge that our cash flow is safe, and we've already priced it in. Their last invoice was for £14,000 so 5% was £700, they're happy, my banks happy, who loses?
  19. we've got the Vallorbe one in our filing kit, brill… Not sure if it was from Jonsies or off Rob D
