  6. Hi all, I was having a chat with a mate the other night. He's thinking of moving to the Brisbane area and we were discussing how much he'd need to earn. We came up with a figure of between $40 and $50 aus dollars. Is this realistic? Also what's the job prospects. Same age as me (47) decent climber but also like me, getting old n knackered. Runs two teams of his own at the minute. All help appreciated Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. He was. Lol I lifted the saw up, put the nose on the trestle, handed it over to him, took the pic, then took the saw. He has his own ms170 on a 12" bar and comes thinning with me. He's 15 now and getting ready for a 200 series, the 362's are too heavy. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App

  10. Hi all, Posted a pic on Stihls' Facebook page recently. The pic is two years old and shows my son (13 at the time) holding the new 880. This was Stihls response: STIHL Hello Dave Schofield, Thank you for this picture. We know that enthusiasm for STIHL begins at a young age. Please keep in mind that only adults should operate a chainsaw. We’d like to make sure that our younger fans develop safety awareness from early on, so please ensure that you keep the little ones at a safe distance from the work area when working with your STIHL products. For these reasons we decided to hide your post on our facebook wall. We thank you for your understanding. Kind regards, your STIHL team Anyone think they may be going a little over the top. PMSL
  11. Hi all, We have a requirement for a qualified tree surveyor in the north notts area. The site to survey is a large NHS site, complete with housing estate. Please email details to [email protected] Thanks, Dave
  12. Hi all. Got to price a big ish ( for us) job up and need a whole tree chipper for it. Anyone got any contacts for hire. Our little Jensen would die if I asked it to chip this little lot. Also ideas for the chip. Thanks in advance. Dave There's approx 400 60'ers. All clear fell into adjacent fields. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Well, it works. Just got these two bits of stem back. Took the trailer over the weighbridge and there's just over 2 ton Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Sorry buddy, but this is called business. If a manager is going to pass me £50k worth of work but would like us to give him some advice, prune a couple of trees, landscape his garden, whatever. I'm happy, he's happy, everyone wins. To pretend that this doesn't happen at every level in the whole world is a bit blinkered IMO. From the tree guy doing a 'can you just' job. All the way to MP's taking 'fact finding missions' it happens. Never mind the bungs, freebies, whatever you want call them, handed to FIFA reps, FIA reps etc Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. We may have some of these spare in the future. £25 each, the bonus is, no horrible plastic tanks to get rid of.
  16. Not really buddy. The ram was on its way out. The tipper body was as rotten as they come. We originally bought the trailer to go behind the 4x4 to save buying a second transit. After buying transit no. 3 I decided it was surplus to requirements Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Dunno then buddy. As said above. its an ifor williams donor chassis and axles. All I've done is chop the tipper assembly off it
  18. Yes bud, timber trailer. The A frame at the front is a Swan neck. Can anyone see the school boy error? Yep, only gone and fitted the mudguard over the Center bolster holder DOH!!!!! Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Ok, so bought this from ADAM Bourne a couple of years ago. It had had a hard life before it got to me, and was was worked hard while i needed it. the purchase of a second transit kind of made it redundant so it sat in yard neglected for a while. Until now… Whats everyones thoughts took the tub off as the trailer was nose heavy, we extended it backwards slightly, added some post holders on each corner, and in the middle. got to take some more pics tomorrow, its had a lick of paint since these were taken. i've also put a grid floor on the trailer so it can take the Jensen if required. oh, and some mudguards, lol
  20. Pay £400 a month for 50' x 40' unit inc leccy. Plus 1/2 acre of hardcored outside storage. Well worth it Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. We report everything. Suspicious vehicles, trespass, the lot. As a result, visible policing in our village has increased. They don't like their crime figures increasing, make them earn their £30K a year. Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Unfortunately in life we can't always do as we want or would like to be doing. We look after a little wood for a client on a strictly 'labour for wood' basis. My theory was that when we had a half day, or a day with no work, we could drop onto the work required there. It's a joy to be in the wood, wildlife galore, beautiful surroundings, a proper feeling of peace and well being. Unfortunately, I've got bills to pay, wages, insurance, etc, etc, etc. it's been nearly a year since I've had a day in that wood. Instead I'm flogging myself up and down tress all day, pushing through crap conifer hedges, getting stressed out when things don't go right or equipment breaks down, generally doing the things needed to MAKE MONEY!!!! The plan is that one day, maybe, I'll have made enough to buy my own place of tranquility, pay the mortgage off, not have to worry about bills coming in, and can pack in doing things I don't want to and start doing things I can. As for being on your own. A companion / wife / girlfriend / boyfriend even, whichever, at the very least will help pay the bills. Be a shoulder to fry on Confidant. Etc etc I run nearly everything past my wife. She's an excellent sounding board. Takes a lot of my rants when one of the lads, and occasionally me, has done something stupid. This could just as easily be your best friend, parent, even the barman at your local. Just as long as long as you've got someone to offload on. Arbtalks good too. 23. We've been thinking a lot about this lately. I think we'll be going the 'O' route but with either a 7.5 or 10 tonner with a hook lift body. 3 or 4 different bodies and a plug in pto hydraulic pump for hiabs/ mews would be ideal I think Sent from bed using Arbtalk Mobile App
