  1. Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me I work with the voluntary group that organises the Lincolnshire Wood Fair. This years event is on the 7th of September at Revesby Estate. We like to put on demonstrations of green wood working, Pole lathing etc but are struggling to find anyone to demonstrate this year. Does anyone know of anyone in the area that may be interested in coming along. Unfortunately we cannot pay, but can often sort a bit of wood for them to work. Unfortunately given our H & S driven world, the person has to have public liabilty insurance. We have a green oak timber framed building guy coming along and a chainsaw sculpter. It's a real friendly event and everyone is made welcome. Often a few of us camp onsite the night before and have a BBQ and a few beers. Also does anyone have a chainsaw mill they would like to demonstrate? Again we could sort out some timber? Any help given would be great this is a free event and it takes a lot of organising. Contact me direct on [email protected] or via the Wood Fair website on The Lincolnshire Wood Fair 2014. Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire. Many thanks, David
  2. Hi Steve It varies between 400 people and 1,500. This year weather permitting we are expecting around 1,000 - based on feedback and website hits. Thanks, David
  3. Hello All Anyone interested in putting locally produced firewood into our auction at our annual Firewood Fair on the 8th of September, Revesby Estate, Lincs? Closing date for entries is 26th of August. Contact me for details if you are interested. The Lincolnshire Wood Fair 2013. Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire. for further details. Thanks, David
  4. Hello Mark Our event is on the 8th of September at Revesby Estate , Lincolnshire. It used to be called the Lincolnshire Firewood Fair but changed its name this year to Lincs Wood Fair. still has a firewood auction as the central event though and it's free entry. go to The Lincolnshire Wood Fair 2013. Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire. for details of exhibitors and directions, times etc. Regards, David
  5. Hello All The Lincolnshire Firewood Fair has been re-branded as the Lincolnshire Wood Fair. On the 8th of September at Revesby, Lincs. Still has the Auction though. So we really need people to enter lots of firewood, sawn timber or wood suitable for woodcarvers and wood turners or small forestry equipment and machinery into the auction. Anyone interested needs to contact Robert Bell & Co at Horncastle (01507 522222) for an entry form and submit lots before the end of August. Also there is a crosscut saw and log splitting race with a top prize of £100, 2nd place £60 and 3rd place £40 so we need arb or forestry teams to compete. Anyone interested can contact us via our website The Lincolnshire Wood Fair 2013. Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire. for a booking form. Numbers may be limited and there is a £10 entry fee (that contributes towards the cost of running this free event). Also does anyone fancy showing of their chainsaw carving skills or hurdle making in a demonstration on the day. We cannot pay (but I would buy you a pint) and you get a free pitch to promote your work. If anyone is interested in helping us out that would be great! All welcome, just come along for a catch up with old friends. Hope to see some of you there. Cheers, David
  6. Hello Chris Thanks for your comments. In truth the first year the FC was almost totally responsible for funding and organising the event but during year two we withdrew "official support" but still help with promotion etc. My involvement now is more out of work hours support. Regards, David
  7. No problems. Links to auctioneers website and catalogue can be on our website. The Lincolnshire Firewood Fair 2012. Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire.
  8. Hello everyone I am one of the people that work voluntarily every year to organise the Lincolnshire Firewood Fair. We have mostly the same people every year supporting us and doing the organisation, giving demonstrations and putting items into the auction. I really want peoples thoughts on what should happen with the event, particularly those that work locally. Or other peoples experiences from further afield. I know Firewood prices are so good you really do not need to auction stuff off but the day was always supposed to be more than that. It was promotion of what we all do and educating the public that burning wood is good and cutting down trees is not always a bad thing. This was recognised this year when we won one of Lincolnshires Environmental awards. It was also a social event with a chance to catch up with old friends (some of who never seem to leave the woods) over a beer. Hell knows working for the FC it is the only time people talk to me without asking for a felling licence for yesterday or handing me a grant application. Has the Firewood Fair had it's day ? Is there anyone out there who thinks it should continue and evolve and more importantly is there anyone out there who is prepared to put their firewood or their time where their mouth is and help organise it. A bit of a rant but I think we just want to know we are providing an event industry wants and not just flogging a dead saw horse. David

  12. Hope to see you there Iain. Anyone out there that fancies getting involved with organising the event for next year? If your involved in the industry in Lincolnshire, it's your event and you can have your say on how it develops. It would be good to get some fresh blood on the committee and it would make a change from looking at the ugly mug of the bloke from the Forestry Commission! Cheers
  13. Hello All Anyone going to the Lincolnshire Firewood Fair on the 18th September at Revesby Estate, Lincs. I know it's a lot to do with firewood, with the auction and all ( a lot, get it) but ther's a load of woodland management stuff there too. With demonstrations of low impact forestry equipment in a working woodlands area. Plus Royal Forestry Society, Lincs Tree Awareness Group and others. Best of all it's free. For a details of what's going on go to The Lincolnshire Firewood Fair 2011. Revesby Estate, Lincolnshire. See you there FC
