  3. 4.5 days of one man's time? It should be straight forward; materials + transport to site + man hrs. I don't know what your planned profit would be, or whether cost might be connected to a current customer or an incentive to a new one. As for 'rough around the edges', I disagree - it's a wood store! The only thing I would change would be those two metal straps on the front transom - you've made it too pretty for ugly straps.
  4. A great story, Jonathan! That's a nice wood store - although I reckon you could catch a bear with the right bait. All the best with the big move.
  5. I lift mine out, pump the priming bubble about 10 times, then pull on full choke and immediately take it off choke once it fires up - which is always straight away. I can't think why the aspen should give cause for concern.
  6. I don't think the final shock load will be the same as the initial one. In effect, the energy of the falling piece is being given to each knot's undoing - by the final knot, some of the energy has been already 'shared out'. I am picturing the same effect as in a tightly formed daisy chain - as the load pulls the daisy chain out, there a series of drops and jerks - thus regulating the rate of load dispersal over time (something that a groundy does but in a different way). In practice, I think the difficulty would be in the guessing of the knot's tightness in changing conditions. Of course, this is all perfect in my head - maybe not outside it.
  7. In the old days, opening the front vents reduced the amount of dust eddying in through the open back of the Series 2.
  8. Very true. Although I would swap the swivel function for a rated becket.
  9. No load-bearing becket.
  10. Nice one, John. Things seem to be moving.
  11. Dear Stihl, Whilst progressive companies continue to tailor their products and services to evermore discerning and informed customers - you seem to have decided that a policy of pushing buyers into your dictated way of business will prove profitable. When has that ever been acceptable? This seems to be the action of a company who cares little about competition and less about once-loyal customers - I think you've just given your competitors more help than they could have dreamed of. Jokes???

An amazing story - it reads like a 'case study' that has been put together for law students to ponder over.
  13. If it's still slipping, try another wrap on the hitch and have very short tails to the eyes and/or try turning the hitch away from the spliced eye.
  14. Reg - these videos are becoming more than just tree work vids, they're becoming real episodes! Thanks for the effort on putting this one together. And Reg - with the long hair an' all, you now look like Ted Neeley (Jesus Christ Superstar).
  15. Youtube RC3100 Pretensioning Pulley Distributed by Bishop Company ?
  16. Fiddle blocks only, Chris?
  17. Ex-president George W. Bush always talked about his fellow merkins.
  18. I've wondered that myself. They must use some of the power output, and in small engines every little bit counts. Does anyone have facts or figures?
  19. Why's that, then?
  20. I'm one of TEN children! I've seven sisters and two brothers. I'm the second youngest. I've got two wee girls of my own - and a wife that comes with them.
  21. You're a generous man, Tony.
  22. After a day walking along the bottom of an escarpment, and after me waxing lyrical about a particular bird of prey we had seen on the rockface above, my 8 yr old drew a picture and wanted to know how to spell 'pair of green falcons' (think about it).
  23. Ty, stop talking as if children are a bit of a burden in the middle of great life plans - they might just be the most important thing you'll ever do.
