  1. For karabiners, it's not too cold! Remember, these things are designed to work in rough environments. Get them back to the manufacturers - hopefully you'll get sorted out, and DMM might gain some useful information.
  2. Is that trolley dip galvanised?
  3. Connect the fid to a ratchet strap and tie off the other end - then just ease it through to the finish.
  4. If I changed light bulbs, I'd be in my element.
  5. I liked the before and after photos. You just gave the command and they all fell to the ground in blocks!
  6. Would there be a 'charge'?
  7. Someone else will change it for £50.
  8. Photo?
  9. Dry air (or drier air) draws moisture from the wood. Warm air has the ability to hold more moisture. But unless you can replace the moist air with drier air then there's nowhere for the wood's moisture to go.
  10. That's a much better description than mine - cloud pruning always makes me think of Dr. Seuss' trees in 'The Cat in the Hat'!
  11. Have you tried any of the alternative friction hitches? It's worth noting that the hitch in the video isn't really a standard prussik.
  12. Advice duly noted, thanks.
  13. Thanks for that.
  14. Can someone, who's big and clever, ID this fungus, please. My skills are poor in the best of conditions - and non-existent in this situation! Thanks in advance.
  15. Have a wooden block at the cutting end and not a 'plank' at the other!
  16. I saw 'A Guide to Good Climbing Practice' (£10 at AA) go on ebay for £32. Makes you wonder whose buying these books!
  17. arborist | eBay The link above (if I've linked correctly) is less than £33. Might help, might not.
  18. And they all lived happily ever after.....
  19. You could try talking to F.R. Jones - they may be able to help. They could tell you if the saw was 'post adjustment'.
  20. Probably Special Branch.
  21. He's cutting firewood - not hunting bears!
  22. I've used Tiblocs in rock climbing situations and they are not kind to ropes. They're are also best suited to ropes of smaller diameter and the smaller type of snaplink krabs. Some of the thicker arb ropes and I-beam krabs don't suit the slot of the Tibloc. I would only use them now for crevasse rescue where speed outweighs gear longevity.
  23. In Northern Ireland, we have similar adverts. You would probably find them on YouTube. I'm not sure it made any difference over here.
  24. He still has the choke on!
