  1. that wouldnt be the one you were talking about this afternoon by anychance - if so NO CHANCE:lol:
  2. taken some nice pics today in the sun of the beech drying in the nets, most items still available for wholesale customers to place orders now - thanks for looking. Junior logbaron is very tall for his age at 6'4" to give you some idea of the size of drying nets:001_tt2:
  3. put on the second hand set of bolsters i got off the right-off trailer i bought, did it all on Sunday, just got to set about swopping the crane and sorting the drawbar out - but thats for another weekend - probably a very long weekend! Trailer looks better already though for it and travels that bit better.
  4. wood wasp probably - harmless but gigantic when they come out
  5. try Mark Osbourne - he deals in county tractors and sometimes gets a trade in.
  6. we had some polo shirts embroided with our logo, they are a very vivid orange and can be seen well in the woods and in the tree. - once you get over the initial "youve been tangoed" everyones got used to them.
  7. ident of trees can be particularly good to try and do at this time when no or few leaves are showing, as buds can be particularlly helpful in ident and bark type etc, then when the leaves do come along it makes it even easier to help with the ident theres nothing better than getting out there and having a go, if your at work and your working on various trees, learn that but try and learn the latin as it willget easier and helps in the long run as people have said with genus then species etc. some colleges offer day courses for tree ident walks or even try your local wildlife group? etc
  8. is that his and hers or his and his:thumbup:
  9. screw splitters are all right for doing bits yourself, but had a few bruised knuckles in the past when we used to have one years ago, I wouldnt ever ask an employee to use one though as they do come keen when the log kicks back on your hand. get a cheap log splitter like an oxedale, safer.
  10. good to see some old fashioned "play", cant do that on a X box
  11. hi mozza, 50 log nets on a standard size pallet and 100 stick nets thanks
  12. Stanley superstar range cooker - buy one second hand for about £500, runs upto 10 radiators, hot water and you can cook on it - save save save
  13. hi chrised88, i obviously gather from that youve not ordered from us before - we offer standard size log nets that are similar to garage forecourt nets i.e. 45x60cm, (we can also do the bigger nets like brussel nets but very few customers have these,) filled with 10-12+ logs in each net, filled by machine so a standard net is very full and make them ideal for stacking on pallets. logs are 8" long softwood will be a mixture of larch, sitka and pines hardwoods at moment beech, sycamore, birch wholesale price for softwood nets £1.75, hardwood £2.25, sticks £1.25 all subject to VAT all pallets can be banded and pallet covered for ease of delivery etc. wholesale prices for 1,000 nets plus, please ring direct. on 07970 040755 we recommend you come and take a sample and call and discuss your requirements first, as its always nice to meet new customers face to face. thanks
  14. two Intos to give the old fordsons a break, they may look like nails but are working well - 785 to be restored. fastrac moving the sheep to new pasture
  15. To all our friends who buy firewood in wholesale from us, Rohan dropped phone under digger last week so weve lost all your numbers! please remember to place your orders as soon as possible for this next season, we are cutting to order again this year and so quantities will be needed to ensure your orders are fulfilled. Again offering softwood log nets, hardwood log nets, sticks in jumbo and standard sizes. pics attached to give some added interest to this boring thread reminder:001_tongue:
  16. The next main purchase will be a tipper trailer for deliveries. I'm looking at the Ifor Williams TT105 which has a massive 6m3 loading capacity with the mesh siding. I then plan to offer logs in 2, 4 or 6m3 deliveries. I wont decide finally on the trailer until ready to start markeing seasoned wood. 6 cube of logs ? alot of weight there on a 3500kg trailer gross weight ?, overweight big time im guessing
  17. pop in again and see the lads charlie, they usually have a laminated spec card in their pockets for felling for different mills etc - if thats any help
  18. checked on moisture meter today 17% - bags are as light as a feather !
  19. the problem i think is alot of people have been made redudant and think, oh will do some gardneing and tree work, then go and undercut the likes of us - happened no end to us, fed up with it.
  20. dont think the speed the log splitter goes is going to increase wear through grit on grease, as its not going as fast as say a piston which would start to wear - tbh used grease all my life, dad used grease on things all his life and things still last - so will stick with grease - on the tin of spray you use dean is it used on landing gear - heard of some planes that the spray has been blamed for the landing gear not dropping down:lol:
  21. oh argh, made out of a nice bit of sack cloth me duck:lol:
  22. sitting here talking to you now with some baler twine round my PJ;s:lol:
  23. just grease ours up with a bit of old stick slapped with a good wedge of grease, using some nice red grease at the mo, which makes the first few logs look like their bleeding
  24. didnt think lada still existed
  25. were based near uttoxeter deano, see your in swansea, nice part of the world - mumbles etc spent many a happy holiday down there on the gower, we used to have a static caravan opposite the airport on the gower, great area, but a bummer of a trip down there from the midlands back in the days when dad had only got a bedford van and could only do about 50 all the way - we thought wed gone up in the world when he got a ldv but one of us had to lie in the back on the airbed all the way down - happy days!
