  3. what part of the country are you gary, most forestry contractors would prefer to operate their own kit, dont think many will hire out their machines - ask your local contractor for a price - as there will be alot of things to take into consideration before you could say a ball park price - best to get someone in to take a look
  4. get em bought, vintage stuff is only going to increase in value, nice restoration shrek in your spare time
  5. pics please rob - to get ace worked up!

  8. fire officer told me when we informed him of a controlled burn we were doing , that they can turn up and put it out even if your there and its under control if they want to - in their eyes, so i was told, there is no such thing as a controlled burn even if your there and it is under control:confused1:
  9. yes, i think thats v.good - hard work but satisfying, 36 bags will you sell them for about £60 quid each -after taking out the wood cost and labour, processing youll still get a good profit i imagine will you
  10. good work, how many of you in the end to do the work? how did you move the bags ,with the digger?
  11. get well soon ace
  12. smaller jcbs are more manouvreable but weve got a big one and its been fine, for the jobs it will be used for - got smaller tractors to do other jobs too, its horses for courses really - doesnt use any more juice than the big deere 50k tractor we use
  13. yes i think we had some off him in the past.
  14. i think this cheap ones only supposed to scan 6-8" in the soil but weve found old wire fencing and nails embedded in trunks about 12-18" in. - saved the saw a few times on old field tree jobs
  15. we got a cheap one from maplin electronics cost about £49 does the job
  16. what wood have you got there justme?- seems a nice load:thumbup1:
  17. sounds interesting charlie - are you attending the derbyshire one, it might be what Mr. already knows but will pass it onto him - if your attending he may attend for a day out with you
  18. yes can believe it garry, tony was pricing up small bits for his deere and everything is so expensive £180 for 1 small sticker about 6" long weve done up lots of tractors in the past, case, fordson, massey ferguson ford, county, jcb, international etc and i think off all of them deeres are the most expensive for parts. will have to post some pics for you of tonys restoration project and will get the model no off him for interest
  19. sounds good - youve got some nice kit there, its not that long ago we only had the old fordson major and sawbench. - the more kit youve got the more maintainance ! more likely to get nicked, more of a headache:thumbup1: Tony at our yards doing up a little deere - always liked them - nothing runs like a deere, but nothing kills a deere like a magnum (case)
  20. we usually do ours ourselves - but odd times mr logbaron cant be bothered - the local sweep charges £25 to sweep chimney and clean the stanley (like an aga)
  21. no probs garry, any pics of your setup?
  22. BAG Supplies :: Packaging Suppliers covering the UK
  23. my accountant told us we could claim workware against tax IF it was embroided with logo etc and so therefore could or would only be used for the job?!
  24. no we tried this dave, you really need air spaces between them, can you move a row out ? do you use a loadall? if so your bags want to be the other way round as if your drivining in from the side of the second pic the tip eye is on teh side and you want it on the front
  25. have you tried Longcliffe Quarrie near Brassington tel 01629 540284, i used to work for them and they mine lime and have a lab turning it into all different sorts of lime for r&d projects - they also used to deal with calcifert and seaweed fert etc try them - ask for Bill Cooke and mention me (joy) he'll definately help if he can (they used to sell small quanitites of all sorts of calicum carbonates from hydrated to slaked lime and they always help out on small projects as they are still a family owned company and like to help on local projects and outlets etc - worth a try charlie rohan just said - they do do it in 25kg size paper cement bags, as used to have it for cubicles etc, and also when he repped for them for the farmers, he picked up some calcifert for horse area in small bags and small quantity
