didnt bother making the charcoal in the end for our bbq, we just piled in the stick bits and offcuts from around the yard, once it finished flaming and went white hot, cooked a treat

my cousin whos in the building trade informed me about this the other day when he filled his trailer with 2 tonnes of sand it said on his tickets 2 scoops and was informed "if you go to most builders merchants now, they dont sell by weight, they sell by the scoop, ie.e will give a price of volume of sand etc and put on their tickets, how many scoops youve had, then they are complying with weights and measures."

was a farm labourer/mechanic etc farm i worked on got foot and mouth, couldnt go to work, no work, went to college to learn RFS course, started up on my own with a young family and mortgage, best thing i did.

coal prices seem to go up year on year, yet when we introduce a legitimate price increase, which is way overdue, customers want to haggle or wont pay it, but i dont haggle with my coal man or my derv supplier or for any other commodity

as for the pile of firewood, its worth what you want it to be worth, if you sell it yourself as fierwood, youll make a good return, if you want rid quick, get some offers in, it cant be all crane picked up, looks like it needs all handballing, so either into back of a tranny and lots of trips or someone with a grab wagon to pick up, either way id say youve got about 12 -15 tonne may be more, no way of knowing unless you go over a weighbridge with the loads, there at say £35 if someone comes to pick up (Mrs. L. guessing - i may be wrong will askMr. for his opinion when he gets in - im guessing with the knowledge of what our 12t trailer unloaded looks like, but then again thats all straight stuff in one long run

mac, im guessing without the superior knowledge of Mr. Logbaron whos busy refurbishing a county cab - so im guessing as a lady, be kind - 8-10 tonne?

yes Simon Groom , he lives not that far away from here at Dethick nr Matlock,Derbyshire, he still runs his farm and you can caravan and camp and b&B there, still does a bit of local radio etc.

get a really dry log, cut down the length of it like a cross but leave about 12" at bottom, light at the top and it burns inside out, wont colllapse until the very end. - will patent it shortly:lol: - i can make you some for a small fee:lol: -
charlieh and the logbarons and all our friends have a bbq, the oil barrel bbq has its first outing and all kept warm with the pine candles, a semi lunge with the boys and the pine candle - very half hearted boys!

we deliver to alot of people who have such boilers, often situated in an outhouse or a little building tagged onto back of property, but the size of house that their in is alot bigger than your sqm. quoted - so i dont know if thats because they are such a big boiler and too powerful for a smaller area or what? have you thought about the ssecond hand market for say a rayburn or stanley, which will do hot water, cooking and central heating upto 12 radiators?

got ours done last weekend cut friday, baled it saturday - hay made in one day almost unheard of, but the crop was so sparse and thin it soon baked it dry - our silage was not much better, what looked like a field of 5ft grass was cut but all leggy nothing in the bottom. silage round here set to go to about £15 a bale from £8.50 last year if this continues, no rain has meant a very poor crop and no doubt straw will rise too already at £85-£100 a tonne

alot of aphid types dont like a spray of soapy water a mix of washing up liquid and water spayed on - organic - but dont know if it will work on these? - worth a try as costs very little?

dont know if anyones interested, but Heartwoods | sustainable timber | timber grants | forestry | Heartwoods Ltd and smallwoods assocaition i bellive are running woodland courses in autumn, for forestry workers etc, covering coppicing, woodland management etc hedgelaying - for more info see heartwoods website - all the courses are subsidised greatly for foresters - they were on at £400 and some of the courses are available at only £30 for 2 days

i would suppose type of area plays a big part, we are in a very rural area with people having large ddrives to tip loads on so majority of tip loads etc, but in an urbanish situation nets rule i would think, i know of one of our wholesale customers over nottingham way, he sells in nets only.
