1. Will be interesting to come back to this thread in 6 months. I am not bothered either, money will be nice but I prefer to mess around with timber. Just got to remember to not sell or hire every generator in the yard.
2. £800 for chinese junk £2800.00 + vat for something half decent built in europe with Yanmar engine. Look up Pramac P6000s nice and quiet too.
3. I am getting a lot of emails and messages from people not to mention a lot of work asking if the light are going to go out. My answer is the same as it was with the millenium bug, no idea. But for the last few years London has come close on many occasions and we now have less capacity than ever before. The government are playing hardball with the energy giants over their pricing and when asked about power security they are not making any comments. If you have a little petrol set tucked away get it out and change the petrol
4. Depends on whether you are buying or selling. If you are in the market for some does not hurt to stir the market up a bit someone may try and do you a favour You never know

what 4x4

I have a p reg hilux single cab One owner for most of its life 120k on the clock. Not had an mot for about 4 years. Think it needs 4 shocks and an alternator. £2000
6. I would think your logs will be fine since 75% of the logs sold in the uk this winter will be goping at over 36% moisture. Having been cut from green timber last week. Even on this forum alot of people are rushing round trying to buy cord cant believe after all the bs in recent years they are hacking it up to sell this winter.
7. Going to hurst castle tommorrow to repair the generator. Had a look on their web site looks worth a visit and good reviews. You can walk the spit or take the ferry for £5.50 return. £5 to get in I think. The closest point to the isle of wight.
8. I have never tried a screw splitter on a bobcat but we were thinking of putting a cheap log splitter upside down and chasing the big rings about the field with it to break them down a bit so we could pick them up by hand and get them on the vertical splitter.
9. Sorry that shgould read big horizontal splitter.
10. Assuming the poplar will be mixed in. If someone has a load delivered in Hampshire and does not want the pop I will collect and give £15 a tonne for it. Did the pop need a lot of snedding.
11. Most should be manual transmission. If the tub has taken most of the force ditch it and put a tipping body on. £1500 ? will be recorded so worth less when resold. Will probably need an engineers report to say its been repaired correctly before they will insure it again.
12. Its only Carlton chain but I cant tell the difference really. I actually find the stihl chain softer and easier to sharpen but blunts quicker. Central spares get some good deals on.
13. Whats the grafter the new version of our old VW LT35 ? is your grafter a 3.5 tonne gross non operators job or a 5 tonne beasty.
14. At £35 a bag you put it away for January/ next year. He is too cheap or he is not cant have it both ways.
15. look at it from a different angle how many customers do we have to deal with in a day then look at how many they have to deal with.
16. I bought 40 loops of chain for our Hakki used to tickle them a few times with a file then abused them with a bench grinder. The loops were £1.75 ea from central spares. At that price does it matter if they get mullered with a bench grinder. I found if you hand sharpen on the processor you will sharpen harder one side and then the bar tries to cut bananas and jams in the cut.
17.
Hi Darren what size and make

18. If someone bought in the summer / autumn I used to offer a discount for any additional loads.Never heard from them before, Middle of winter price it through the roof. If you book a plane ticket last minute or book a hotel room u pay through the nose, supply and demand you have sat on your timber for 12 months now get your money back.
19. Buy a house with a small wood, some existing workshop and no neighbours. If they cant hear you or see you unlikely to bother u.
20. Shows how much I know thought they were cherries until people started naming apples
21. If you buy by volume they will send an arctic load of 2" bent beech sticks. If we had a load of oversize built up I used to just ring it then 2 of us put it through a vertical splitter. If you are going to billet over size butts you need a big vertical splitter that turns a 2ft but in to 1/2 doz sticks in one pass.
22. I am going to sound really dense now but. I need to break down poplar to make into planks for kindling. Accuracy can be really poor just need to get most of the bark off. Would a machine like this be alot quicker than a lt15 woodmiser.
23. Trouble is if you go and offer to buy it the penny drops and they think you are taking the mick. Those logs are for their customers they would rather burn diesel dropping them all over the country side and cut your throat in the process. You cant educate pork.
