  1. I used to work out 1 tonne of green beech gave me 1.5 cubic metres of loose logs and if I got more then it paid for the service on the Ferrari
  2. Put a fiver in and take a tenner change they stop asking after a few weeks.
  3. I was surprised how many liked to avoid issuing weight tickets and just how much twisty 3 inch stuff they could get into a load of beech
  4. I bought an old green mech Eco 150 I think it's called. Chipper and shredder in one with hatz diesel engine. Brilliant bit of kit use it once in a blue moon on my 1 acre garden but would not bother with a smaller machine it just gets on with in and drags in big gobs of brash. Paid about 4 k for it a couple of years ago and it's probably still worth 4 k. I chip lots of par 2x1 and waste from the kindling to make weed suppressant.
  5. Just say your on the tps phone goes straight down if they are uk based they could be fined.
  6. I was even tighter when doing granny logs I even allowed for the extra waste on the cuts. Our processor had a 325 chain and every cut you lost 8 mm of log. More cuts = less log.
  7. Not sure but if I was looking to buy one I would ask the dealer theses questions. One of the symptoms of dpf problems is poor fuel consumption. I am sure the rodeo is a good strong work truck and reliable but most of the time I use mine as a car and often doing 450 motorway miles a day. The Rodeo is ok but the Amorok is getting near to luxury 4x4 comfort. The hilux is ok but bit noisey on the engine unless you like the transit growl when pushed hard which I don't mind it is a truck after all. I could have changed my vehicle 7 years ago but so far nothing has enticed me out of my old LC amazon. The new v8 lc is not great for the money and far too electronic for a work vehicle. I like straight 4 or 6 cyl engines v8'stuff too complicated too much emmission control and no room to work on them.
  8. I don't own one but was told by a dealer a few weeks ago the oil dilution was only a problem if the vehicle was pottled about slowly round farmers fields and left ticking over while you feed pheasants etc. if you spend half your time on A roads and motorways you should be ok.
  9. To get the charge alternator to charge you need to excite it with 24 volts. The small wire often a spade terminal gets its feed from the ignition switch so there could be a fault on this circuit. To test alternators on site we pull the wire off and jump it of the battery. If we still don't get an out put its the alternator.
  10. I found the stilhl one about 3 % optimistic. As said above get funny readings normally low batteries then you need to get your battery tester out. I tried the banging together bit I could only sus green and fully seasoned. A meter gives an idea as to how much longer they need to season.

  12. I did spend a few minutes stretching my arms out in the front room getting strange looks from the wife trying to work out if you needed a blade or a ships keel. 😊

  14. Good way of looking at it especially since your in your twenties. What first time buyers have forgotten is old gits like me had a property that was worth less than they paid for it for 7 years and the interest rate went over 10 % also some of us got stuffed with endowments so have had to pay twice
  15. I think you have to remember they are sensationalising and making a programme to entertain. In a lot of cases it will annoy the working man. In many of the deprived areas of Britain work is scarce especially the unskilled low paid jobs as lots have been taken by the influx of Europeans over the last 15 years. Nothing against people moving around Europe and working but it does make it hard for people over here when a house cost 40 k in Poland. If the government has decided it's cheaper to pay dole than subsidise industry to compete against the world what can you do ? . Yes there is work out there especially in the south but how far are you going to get in life if most jobs are zero hours and £7 an hour. What is the average cost of a house in the south 240 k ?
  16. If driving a Landrover makes you that stressed and up tight I definately sticking to the landcrusiers. Bad day at the office ?
  17. If the miles are reasonable and no rust and the rest is tidy I would look for a good engine £1000 - £1700 things come in threes and you are through it now at least it's not a Land Rover.
  18. It was good 10 years ago now it's not. There is still lots of good honest people on there but the muppets spoil it for the rest. We did have nice little business running but the conditions and fees coupled with courier fees doubling over night killed it so we knocked it on the head. That's why she concentrates on kindling now.
  19. I have a long term friend who owns Taylor and stokes in Andover .Top quality work but won't be the cheapest. If I need anything done I always use them. They tend to be on bigger jobs like two storey extensions. Mr stokes is probably the best brick layer around Andover and Nigel is top knotch carpenter the rest they get in as subbies.
  20. I bought a nice shiney d4 after a year it was like the flint stones. Needed feet out the bottom to make it go monumental farce even Landrover dealer appeared embarrassed and you can't get more hard faced than them. I was a Landrover man but won't touch the newer stuff now with a barge pole. The landcruiser is a little dull but will last 20 years and 400k without missing a beat.
  21. It's got a sort of Renault espace look about it. Are they BL door handles that have fitted everything including Morris marina, maestro and discovery.
  22. Serviced and changed the oil on a lister Genset yesterday and afterwards had no oil pressure at the pressure gauge. The other banjos on the side of the block show good pressure but the tapping on the engine that supplies the gauge and fuel pump nothing. The oil that dribbled out the injection pump looked a bit black and thick so thinking that this has been a long term problem and we just tipped the balance. Job is 50 miles away and I did not have a compressor on board to blow down the oil way. Never come across a blocked oil gallery before especially on a standby or am I over looking something really obvious.

I can remember getting four but after a year of looking after them they seemed to suffer from prolapse and I can remember thinking it would have been kinder to put them down and get some normal hens. May have just been unlucky but have a feeling being cooped up during their early lives their insides don't develop properly then when they run round the yard everything falls out. bit like me in me shorts
