  1. I give up on tea untill which did a test and said sainsburys breakfast fairtrade was good and they were right. I make sure the brita filter is in date and get a good cup of tea:thumbup:
  2. Taylor's expresso from sainsburys or asda. Head and shoulders above the rest as far as my taste buds are concerned. For the best you need to go to a specialist coffee supplier.
  3. Para source make them for the emer servs 2ft one for £200 on eBay. Good kit allot of the rest is Chinese crap.
  4. I think I worked out with mesh sides and a 3500 kg gross trailer you could get 600 on loaded singularly weighing 2500 kg. If you have no mesh sides we could try 4 pallets and some round the outside possibly 500 in total.
  5. You should be able to claim for the 4x4 although they have changed the rules. Most are high on emmissions so you can only offset 8% of the value per year but if you keep it a few years you will get it back. The pick ups are commercial so you get 100% of the value in the first year so very good at taking chucks out of a big tax bill. If you are limited then avoid cars full stop better to own them privately and charge the business 40 p a mile for business use.
  6. We can get 90 on a pallet at £1.80 + vat per bag. A pallet to most parts of the country is around £60 + vat. Most of our larger customers collect loose to get more on their truck then palletise on return to base. It does not take long for 4 people to hand ball a 1000 bags.
  7. If your looking for kindling through the summer let me know. We have a huge stock of top quality material but limited dry storage for end product. With the mild winter and our increased production we will be running out of room soon
  8. If anyone has a take down. My wood burner loves beech, ash, oak, birch, sync, maple or similar. I have a couple of large ifor trailers to whisk it away and the beer or kfc is on me.
  9. Mine was white I just used brown paint on the bulk head and bottom of the doors.
  10. Its all i had when doing logs for 5 years. Found the exhausts work loose but then they go even better. I found them a good saw i think mine is still running on 20" bar with 325 chain.
  11. The free lander is positively bullet proof compared to the new stuff. All the technology and 8 speed boxs etc makes for a fantastic vehicle to drive. But if it's badly made it gets very expensive. I found this week if you have the premium radio in a new disco and it packs up and needs the screen the cables and all the Tcm units your in for 5 k . Not funny if you are digging down the sofa to feed the gas metre and your gearbox software has cancelled tomorrow's job. A d1 may be a bit sluggish and crude but you know it will get you to work and the heater works if the stereo packs up you can stop in halfwits and get one for £60
  12. Thats what land Rover translates to in chinese. Get your own back. I am a Landrover enthusiast the disco 1 was great and the disco 2 was ok. The new stuff is complete and utter rubbish.
  13. That does surprise me after my d4 was so good NOT
  14. 10.5 tonnes 2.5 tonnes of land rover 3.5 tonnes of trailer 4.5 tonnes of AA recovery truck
  15. When I had a pile like that I used to use a bench with a saw clamped in it. Once u have picked it up and cut it pass it to the man on the vertical splitter or put in a box that can be raised. The hard work comes from bending down picking it up all the time. I have a feeling the stuff will be too small for a processor, too short or too big. We put ply on our log deck and used it as a big table and pulled the stuff across with hookeroons.
  16. If a 70 year old is prepared to risk his neck to save a few quid you can be sure they were still looking for cheap after they accepted your quote. Do you actually know they paid more ? Well done for sticking to your price
  17. I was talking about the rexton I forgot they did other 4x4 models. I looked at a new rexton van about 7 years ago no miles but pre registered at about 8 k I don't think they were that popular and not great to drive. The Dacia duster does not look that great either I think you get what you pay for.
  18. I normally get a massimo from Starbucks or Costa for a bucket with four shots of coffee about £3 spend the whole journey with a big smile on my face licking the window. Work like a Duracell bunny and can't sleep for two days. That looks cheap compared with South west trains.
  19. I would go and give one a drive I have a feeling they may be hard to live with. Looks good on paper merc engine tows 3500kg but crude compared to modern stuff.
  20. The hilux is ok but I think the vw trumps it especially with 8 speed box it's an almost seamless non revvy change. Good road manners and quiet with quality interior. The best I have driven not to say there is no better but I would think it would take some beating.
  21. But they are all on a level playing field just knock 20 % off and you have a good idea. The emission controls eat a bit more fuel. These trucks have grown in size over the last ten years and the tyres doubled in width and halved in life. If you want to improve fuel consumption improve your driving style check the truck is not chipped for performance. Look into skinny pure road tyres with good reviews for economy I think this could make a difference of 20 % over mts . Forget the fancy fuels and make sure it's serviced early and the brakes are not binding. Don't drive round with the climate control on auto you only need air con for three days a year. Unless the air con says it's off its actually always working. Seat heaters heated mirrors etc leave them off. The power drawn by the alternator is the same as a 50 cc moped through the chain.
  22. Yes so they won't be busting to discount it. I once leased an old hilux for three months while I had the wonderful new navarra d22 on order. Lesson learnt should have stuck with the old hilux which was worth about 5 k and had 170 k on the clock.
  23. If I did arb work I would probably buy a 3 year old white hilux ex company 70,000 miles full history £7000. Why would you pay 40 k for a pick up and throw sticks at it all day and drag chainsaws over it. If I needed a vehicle for private use I buy a proper 4x4. Then you don't have to Neal up on the rear tail gate getting covered in crap to retrieve your coat that is wet from the leaking snug top. The rear seats in a dc are ok but you won't want to do 200 miles in there. Normally they are noisier and have a hard choppy ride.
  24. I test drove one about two weeks ago. Thought it the best drive so far but not tried the ranger not a fan of ford at all so it would need to be head and shoulders above the rest. Not sure I would buy the vw with 2 litre engine especially if towing big trailers. 7 speed auto box was spot on and may take the strain off the engine. All a bit too nice for a working truck and maybe not tough enough and price is horrendous for a high spec one you are looking at 30 k plus and then vat on top.
