  1. Price as a job, not a day rate or per tree. 2 climbers for the day, if they are going to come down and clear up within the working day then no need for a groundie which would add to the cost as long as the area can be taped off and don't risk any members of the public walking under the tree IME deadwooding is one of the most under priced jobs we do, depending on the spec it often takes a lot of time to cover the whole tree and do a good job especially on large mature oaks
  2. Yeah 3 weeks I would say is tops, I use a lock jack and burn through the grips on descends which then makes hand over hand ascents impossible
  3. Red pfanner gloves are very good just don't last unfortunately
  4. Nice video looks like a handy compact crane
  5. Think that are the same company that make the small hedge trimming platforms? Can get the equivilant Zarges for £280 but those seem a lot cheaper just never used them and like to stick to what I know!
  6. Everyone will have their preferences but IME you can't beat Zarges, they ain't cheap but are probably one of the best out there

    My accident

All the best on your recovery Sean, when you read things like this it kind of puts everything else into perspective when your having a crap day and realise how lucky I really am (hope that doesn't sound patronising) Hope you heal well and quickly.

I've had mine for a few months, run it on a 15inch bar but wouldn't go any bigger than that. Very light, flickable saw and good power to weight
  9. Nice vid there mate. You certainly get some interesting work and have some nice toys!
  10. Terrible news, hope the healing process is a fast one
  11. Ropeguide is the best solution IMO, especially when used with a lock jack or zigzag. Sounds a lot at £150 but break it down over 5 years and cost pence per day and saves your joints
  12. In answer to question C - yes. I've got a 2m grillon for general climbing and a 5m for bigger stuff. I've tried quote a few lanyard combinations and I prefer the grillon but that's just my opinion
  13. I use petzl oval with mine but DMM Ultra 0 which are like the petzl oval also work ok
  14. A couple of mine
  15. Ain't that good mate, the pro's make that run look rubbish! I did it out of interest really not to use it at work but it is something i'm going to do more of, I'm doing another course at the end of this month to learn a bit more. As tree surgeons we already have some of the skills you need so seems a good fit
  16. Recently sent a 200t to Steve to fix. Thoroughly recommend him, very good value for money and kept us informed what he was doing at every step and how much it was going to be. She's running like a dream now and means the 201 can go to the back of the lock up! Cheers for your help Steve.
  17. Did a one day hedge laying course that the AA organised at Great Windsor Park, this was our first effort
  18. Try JJ Dooley down here in kent Tel:01795 591100
  19. I've got some walnut left over from a job I did offer up on here before if that's any good?
  20. Hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah that works out further than going back to our yard unfortunately but I will bear you in mind in the future as we do venture down that was sometimes Cheers
  21. Hi Anna, I did speak to Paul about getting your mate with the lorry and hiab down there to pick the timber up but don't think he will be able to get onto site as the lorry will have to pull off the road and drive onto grass and I think he'll get stuck so was looking for tip site close to site instead of running back up our way. I'll have a look at the access again and if it looks like the lorry can get in I'll give you a call for a price Cheers Jay
  22. Does anybody have or know of a tip site in the above area to get rid around 15t of clean chip and similar amount of poplar cord. Majority is processor size and max diameter around 24 inch Cheers Jay
  23. I'm using New England agama with 12/13 clutch and like it feeds through nice each to their own though. I did have Xtc hedera which is 11/12 but didn't like it as it didn't feed through as nice, but does however flow nice through my zigzag
  24. Yes it is 3.5t tow and 3.5 gross on truck. That's what the plate in the can says on a 63 plate
  25. Simple structure and looks good. Are you going to fit something to it to pull or tip the chip out?
