  1. Nice truck, the Isuzu engines are bomb proof if you look after them. Lovely back drop in your second pic
  2. 1st job of the day a 1 -2m reduction on this Oak
  3. We had a a530 really didn't rate it had to sned a lot of brash down to get it through became a pain after a while. I suppose it depends one what kind of work you do, lots of take downs and large fells IME the a530 isn't the best. Again also had a 190 at a previous place and it was far better than the Jensen a530. From memory of the 530 I would say that the 530 is more comparable with the timberwolf 150. We now run forst 6 inches and i believe they are superior to the a530. Weight of the machines may be a consideration depending on your set up
  4. Not a desperate site the check but on the official dart charge site there was a box under a sub heading where you could enter the reg and pay for previous crossings. When I did this it came back with nothing. I was going to call them to check but forgot in the end and as nothing came through the post thought I would let sleeping dogs lie!
  5. Really? I thought it due to the fact it was a new truck and the dvla didn't have the details
  6. I forgot to pay for a crossing a few months ago but never received anything. Have paid for subsequent crossings but not heard a word about the first one. I put my reg in to the site to see if there was anything outstanding and nothing came up??? Think the fine is discounted if you pay within 14 days
  7. I would speak to the LA first as you'll probably get a warden say 'yeah that's fine mate' then slap you with a ticket when you go back to work. If you get a ticket don't remove it or his mate will put one on as well! Have a look at the link below and give the LA a call they will give the correct advise but you will have to pay for the permit https://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/red-route-dispensations.pdf
  8. Cool video, I want one of those drones cameras!
  9. Nice vid and cool sound tracks, you must have had those lights on all red for a while at times! Enjoyed the vid
  10. I'd agree with that, I use the red meindl's with distel's are find them fine for a days climbing
  11. Ok mate cheers for that, didn't know you were that local! Yeah we do a fair bit around Keston Park, Croydon Road, West Wickham etc
  12. To be honest I have a habit of buying stuff, trying it and going back to what I was on before! I got my zigzag just as the storms hit the other year and started using it but as I was out doing some dodgy stuff I went back to what I knew and liked as didn't want something new in the mix when dealing with some sketchy uprooted trees etc and to be honest didn't go back to it. I keep saying to myself I will give it another go but every time I get to site I just get me normal gear out and crack on although I am going to make some time to go on a rec climb and give it a whirl otherwise I feel like I've wasted £150+! I think that hedera works well with the lock jack from what I used but not so much with the lock jack, I find the lock jack works better with a stiffer rope
  13. Typically 11mm ish is best as it flows throuh better than 13mm. I used yale hedera which was good but didn't stay with it as I went back to my lock jack
  14. Another one for carbon gecko's most comfy spikes I've had just choose correct size by measuring your leg as per their recommendations
  15. Nice video David, anything living in there until the fruiting body appeared?
  16. Not really. Yes a light reduction will promote growth but so will pollarding and hard reductions. In the case of willow when it is reduced heavily the regrowth is massive and can lead to future problems. When reduced lightly like the op did will the regrowth be slower and more controlled? It would be interesting to get two identical trees and pollard one tree and lightly reduce the other, compare the results and see what is best from a financial point of view and a tree health point of view. Three years down the line it will probably need re reducing but then so would it if it was pollarded as there would be a massive of regrowth
  17. Nice job, bet it was a tricky climb looking at the amount that came off. People say this kind of reduction is pointless/waste of time but is it? Yes in terms of what was taken off as its not going to stop the tree failing/reduce pressure on unions but to some home owners having a nice looking tree is more important and there happy to pay for that. A couple of years ago I took around 2ft off all round this birch. The tree had sentimental value and the lady wanted a nice shape to look at as she drove up the road. Did she get value for money? Depends which way you look at it, in terms of material coming off then maybe no but in terms of getting nice looking tree then maybe yes
  18. Have a look on the arb association website, plenty of free downloads on there for everyone and don't have to be aa approved Help becoming an ARB Approved Contractor
  19. Try Roger young isuzu dealer down in devon they do them, not cheap but good quality and uprate the suspension as well. I think there has been a thread on here before about them. Firs garage also do l200's brand new with a tipper factory spec
  20. Think you might be right about only fitting in the newer rcw variant which is a shame. It says you need the rcw version on the stein website which is a shame as we have only used the 3001 a couple of times thus far STEIN Worldwide
  21. The husky ground lids are good for ground work and a decent price. If you are going to be progressing to climbing within the shelf life of the lid then it may be worth looking at getting a lid that is rated for ariel use so you don't have to buy twice
  22. Nice video, especially on the long laterals at 4.30ish If you already have a 3001 can the winch element be purchased on its one and added to the device when required?
  23. Arborcut have a small schiesling for sale, 105mx. If it's anything like their other models will be very well built and go on and on
  24. Yep, especially with pop! Why would you want to fell it at 15ft up? I can't see where the cavity ends from the pic but if it was droppable in one then looks like you could high fell it above the decay from ground level (pics can be deseptive!)
  25. Personally looking at the pics I would tie into the tree next door and dismantle away from there. If it had to be rigged out because of targets you could use the tree you are tying into if suitable. If not hand hold dismantle and board out the lawn. During the storms I went up a Lombardy like that, it was slightly fractured from the winds at the base but I thought I would climb it. Got around 40ft up and the groundies called me down, glad I did as it failed and got hung up in another tree. Managed to get the road closed asap and drop it from ground level That's just my 2 cents worth from what I can see from the pics and as we know pics can look different when you get there!
