  1. Ash tree from today, view over Somerset levels with the tor on the horizon, in the middle.
  2. Oh dear, it was quite packed when i went 4 years ago, really enjoyed it. I would have thought it's location would be ideal for alot of arb's to get to.
  3. Welcome to the internet.
  4. Enjoyed that, thanks! You get a real sense of the height when it takes a few seconds for the pieces to hit the floor. I like the sugi's, purely for aesthetics, but good to hear some good feedback from out in the field.
  5. Mate, he's just messing with you Just ignore it (although it's not nice when someone is actually taking the piss out of you, even on the internet)
  6. It is risky starting at 99p but usually pays off. The insertion price for a reserve is really expensive - e.g. about £10 for a £300 reserve. Starting at £300 is much cheaper. I'd say out of all the options, 99p start is the most fun/ nerve racking!
  7. Much better Proper conny bashing!
  8. Ok fair enough, i suppose if the max reach of the mewp stays outside of the live zone then there isn't any risk of an accident (not involving the lines anyway)
  9. What's the deal with using mewps on grid work? I thought that it would be a similar situation to HV lines.
  10. I thought Monterey too (i didn't know the latin name for it though, thanks!)

  15. anyway, i thought they were called free fall step cuts and hand held step cuts...?
  16. The horizontal one is a notch either side surely? (as in notches in, put saw away, snap branch/log off with hands)
  17. It is when you put a bottom cut first then a top cut for the branch to free fall without swinging or tearing.
  18. Only kidding... Plenty of existing threads...This would be a good place to start.. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/54681-art-zig-zag.html
  19. No don't think anyone has one here mate, sure you have the right forum?
  20. I think he's drunk
  21. Yes indeed, i was just on about the figures. Even with this in mind, you would have to fall a long long way to exceed 1.5tons.
  22. Er wtf is your problem?
  23. Dude, you have your figures wrong. 100kg = 1kn so 10-15kn would be between 1,000 - 1,500kg (ie 1.5 ton)
  24. Dead man's fingers
