  1. Looking very smart & practical!
  2. I would not take it to heart, remember all your satisfied customers, phone the client up & offer him money back & you collect the logs,he will either take you up on the offer or decide to keep them, hopefully the latter as it saves you a trip. Some folk are never happy/having a rough time,or are chancing for a bit of a 'top up'. Thats not your problem,so just give him the oportunity to accept the load or not, & get on with what you do.
  3. Nice pair of ridgebacks, they can be a very good thief deterant!
  4. I have one similar to that shown by Log suplier, good tool.
  5. Do us over 50 years olds get a dispensation of any type before I go & do myself a mischief?
  6. Got mine gently ticking in the background with some ash & dead elm mix,my favourite combination.
  7. I think for a nice clean chassis etc,you might up the price on the 200tdi (or 300tdi) a bit,but if its a 300 series lump I would think it will be non factory fitted.
  8. Thats class! missed this thread, but it seems you found a great solution to the problem!
  9. I may be interested in joining in,depends on dates & cost to some extent, but I will keep an eye on this one, thanks.
  10. Not too sure on the price of these, but what engine is it running? If its the early turbo diesel, rather than the 200 seriesTD they were not the most reliable engine,( cracked blocks & head problems on some). Looks a nice landy in the pic,but I wouldn't pay extra for raised suspension,as its not realy nescesary,& needs to be mentioned when getting insurance quotes. I'm not being 'down' on the vehicle, just a couple of pointers. If you do go for it I would look to drain all oils from the engine & drive train & replace,as if it has been through deepish water it can get in the axles etc,as they cool down rapidly & can suck in muddy water when immersed in water.
  11. Is this a theory,('down the pan'),or do you know it,just completed a contract for them so I hope you got this wrong!!!
  12. Nice fell Daniel,I run a 3120 with a 36 & 60 inch bar,great saw!
  13. I wont lend my kit out except to a fellow tradesman,& that is a rare occurance, not because they need it for a certain job,but maybe if they have had a saw sent in for repair or such like,& need a stand in to keep going.
  14. Not too shoddy,(I'll get me coat)!
  15. geoff

    skoda pick up

If it fits the remit it will be a good motor, nice little runaround.
  16. Thats well beyond your obligations Justin, you obviously understand the impact on a small business of this sort of hicup,a great gesture on your behalf. You have helped people on here a lot in the past,in various ways...... Very cool.
  17. Hope they can get a better id & get the man locked up.
  18. Had a scout about, looks like you will want to spend a bit nearer 5 grand for a good straight one,new is around the 10K price range,so I cant see you getting one for 2K. Good luck & make sure its checked out before you buy.
  19. You will be ok with aspen,& husky endorse it too as said. You may need to get the saw re-tuned to run sweetly,(richened up on the L,& maybe the H carb adjustment screws),if you dont know how to do this correctly,I would let a good chainsaw tech sort it. I run all my saws on it,some old ones that have used pump fuel for years, and some from the off, stihl echo & husky, not had any problems other than having to adjust the carbs to suit the fuel.
  20. An intersting thread,I have some old polarded oaks around me,one very old that I own. I do speculate that a lot of trees (oak, etc),was cut hard as you say, when the demand for good mature lengths was of imediate importance,as the wars wirh france & spain. George 111 I believe required a lot wood for his conflicts,& I ponder that my oak may well have started its life as a pollard around this time. I am going to enjoy this one,the '87' storms rolled one of the old oaks over,& the wood from that was used in restoration of old boats. The industial revolution created & relied upon this type of harvest for fuel & structural wood suplies.
  21. Andy collins is bang on,I had the same opinion in Dadio's last thread that deteriorated into abuse, pictures an all.
  22. Very cool carving!
  23. Stunning work! a joy to see this.
  24. It does have added ballast to help with the tugging Felix!
  25. Quite a hairy one to do,I have had them down with a winch,& used a truck too,a truck does give you the potential for a faster line speed which in my opinion can be desirable sometimes.
