  1. Yep Dak,biggy for me is what is sound when you load it verticaly, can go to fail when loaded on a limb walk or redirect,as you are loading the anchor horizontally to a greater extent,no brainer but people forget to take stock of this.
  2. Go on then, throw in the trailer too mate...
  3. Wow,got a few grands worth of kit built up over the years,& all I needed was ten gallons of red & a layby, thats where Iv'e been going wrong:001_rolleyes: anyone want to swap chipper, grinder etc for two 5 gal jerry cans & a road map!
  4. I was aware of the time scale in a roundabout way,but as you say the situation (in my mind at the time) did require him out of there. I could well have messed up badly, but just did what I did, hard call when its in your face. Just goes to show you can do the wrong thing entirely trying to help, and the wrong thing by holding back in some circumstances.
  5. I got a large dumper off a bloke who had managed to run himself over with it,it had stalled on his pelvis after mushing his leg,he was pinned in a wheel rut with only his head above water. One bystander had to be removed from the imediate scene as he was trying to prevent rescue,(told him he would be the next one needing help if he persisted),I got the help of one other bystander(we where on a roadside),& whinched the machine up & off the trapped man,& gently removed him from the water. I asked the victim if he wanted me to 'get it off him' before I proceeded, and made sure others heard his response, which was not hard as he made it all to obvious he was in agreement. Fire brigade arrived about 20 mins after I had him out & even though he had very nasty leg injuries the machine was off him within 4 minutes of the accident,if he had remained trapped the consequencies could have been a lot worse. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I considdered time to be an issue to the victims chances,& sod the legal guff.
  6. Chances are it will be ok,if it was only ticking over when it whent in,give it a good clean out, drain & replace fuel, plug out & turn it over while its upside down,& also with the exhaust pointing down, maybe blow the carb out ,dry the filter,& give it a go. I would want to get it running asap to avoid the potential for the bearings to rust. If you do get it going let it get nice & warm too.
  7. All my hand tools run on it,stihl, echo , husky & honda blower,no worries old & new saws.
  8. Done that regular, they love it!
  9. Just reminded me to get some,I love the stuff,,mind you its been a few years since last tasted.
  10. To 'bump' a thread, just post on it again by writing 'bump',this brings it up the list of unread posts to other users,so atracting the attention of those who missed it first time round. Cant help with your original question, but sure someone will come along who can.
  11. Yep good stuff mate, keep it up.

  17. Welcome, tough time to start up on your own, keep at it & you will show your worth,be prepared to take other part time work until you establish a good client base. Your previous experience will hold you in good stead,& brush up on areas where you may recognise you need to expand your general knowledge of tree care & the ins & outs. Good luck to you,& hope your health is good now.
  18. Good climber between £120 & £150 round here.
  19. Fuel prices should drive things up in an ideal world, but things are not ideal at the moment,& they look set for'worse to come'! Lets hope not!
  20. Sound the same machine as mine, the danequip stuff is near identicle.
  21. Sounds like a fair sized job,my dosco would do it,but its a walk behind machine,so probably not the kit you are thinking of using. We could always set Felix the chopper up with it as a punisment for trying to make me bust a gut! If you get stuck I would have a look, but sounds like a job for the big boys machine.
