  1. Sold some down here to boat yards over the years,as big lumps,& some nice curved stuff from old oak pollards, had a few of then turned their roots in the '87 storm'. A joy to see them utilised in restoration work, and look round down below at the work done & the timber notched & bolted in,giving it a new structural purpose. Lovely stuff.
  2. Huck is about right in my book,I do tend to keep my hardwood chippings from the winter seperate from the 'leafy' summer pruning stuff,& the acidic evergreen has its own heap too. Got a good suply of well rotted cow manure, that mixes in well with the leafy stuff.
  3. Nice reduction, they will handle this ok,well climbed too,but huck's reduction is soo much more subtle.....
  4. Yeh right:biggrin:,go on fess up, was you giving it 'WOW,AMAZING'!
  5. That fell between the houses was a heavy duty call, impressive work!
  6. Is that an 'out of the motor side window' shot,or are the raindrops realy that big up there? Must have been a lot of glacial activity there after that lump landed, that will have made a big hole for itself when it hit the deck. I love bitesized cows too, round here it's all mud & massive moos.
  7. Had a day on the stumps myself today,I use a diamond coated disk on a cordless grinder to dress the teeth up,no probs, tend to grind the iron down with a normal grinding disc, then go with the diamond coated to stop it clogging up,there is a good suplier I have posted,(run a search on here),they give a very good discount if you buy 3 or 4 off them,if you cant find it pm me & I can set you in the right direction. Mine have given me nothing but bloody good service & economy, combined with the excelent Makita L XT cordless grinder(thats an expensive tool, but very very good). The green wheels are good, but dust to nothing if they grind the iron, and use a dust mask with them anyway, you do not want to get the dust in your lungs from these,it's not good news.
  8. Simples, the mewp will handle anything you subject it to within its capacity,if you drop load it you are likely to have problems,be it jumping out with gay abandon, cutting & getting a basket hang up from above, and not having a good setting for the suport legs, and movement at max that is stopped too fast. I hate the things,I own one, they are a very usefull tool,& they can bite back if abused.
  9. Sounds like a water pipe thats got kinkid bu the roots,or is leaking, that could do it.

    Jokes???

Oh dear Mark.....up to the usual quality!
  11. Had both, still got the g12,nothing between them in my opinion, the zoom is 5x optical, then you zoom digitaly after that(efectively cropping the image). These are great compacts with DSLR like controls,& you can buy filter adapters to take telefoto lenses/close up filters(achromatic ones are good quality).you wont get low light high iso pics of the same quality as a DSLR,nor a shutter delay fast enough for sports shots without a bit of planning, but a great little camera. Heres a link to some G series pics,& a few nikon D80 ones to look at for image quality. Click on an image & it will tell you in the top left which camera was used. Flickr: geoff321's Photostream
  12. Pete's advice is spot on. Alternatively go to similar dealer,& look at second hand, you will get a lot of camera for your money, something like a nikon D80,(I have one & they are still a very good camera). Go for one that has a low (sub 4000) shutter count, this the dealer can show you,its in the EXIF data on the camera,I would go nikon or canon personally. Find your target camera, then google it,ie (nikon D80 review),and read more than one of the reviews to get an idea of the highs & possible lows.
  13. Nasty accident, great shame when these things hapen.
  14. Fun vid Frank, nearly spilt me morning tea when the throwbag hit the camera, must get something for my nerves.....
  15. Ta David,I did rig the fractured piece out in one with a mind to keep it intact, but my stand in groundy went & put a 346 throught it,Argh!
  16. Sad times in wales, thoughts to the families.
