  1. Thats not far short of embarrasing......
  2. This was the base of a very burry oak tree.... These are on oak and sweet chestnut.
  3. Tippers cost a fortune, so dont get one of them.....!
  4. Thats honey locust steve, or false acacia, gleditsia triacanthos. That had crossed my mind too. One of the heaviest timbers i ever milled.
  5. They crack me right up.......at the agricultural college down here, the students who are simply too thick to be able to do anything, pretty much window-lickers, are put on the 'pathfinder' course:lol:
  6. Sorry, but i cant help but keep seeing the thread title as help stabbing, kent!!
  7. VERY nice....better start saving the pennies....
  8. LOL i have done my sentence with that lot.......still dip in from time to time though to remind myself just how unpleasant:thumbdown: these scumbags really are:lol: most of my stonework is around that area:sneaky2: Give me tree work down this neck of the woods any day.
  9. 40" 1080p hi def lcd aint bad tbh, but 1080p plasma must be ultimate i reckon. Good find btw Tony.
  10. I have a weaver and a treemotion. The weaver is a great harness, a MAN'S harness......but i prefer the treemotion, but the support offered by the weaver is amazing. Who cares what other people think anyway. If it works for you, then stick with it.
  11. They are still crap for towing.
  12. Yeah- have left a few in my time TBH.....most a hell of a lot bigger!
  13. That is a view of the mouth of the Camel Estuary in north cornwall, Padstow area, but i was on the opposite side. And the rest! Some of the walls on Bodmin moor are reckoned to be over 3000 years old. It is all dry stone, no mud inside or between the joints, and the interior is all carefuly laid in and knitted together, stones propped etc, so nomovement can happen.
  14. Cheers chaps. The customer didnt want a grandiose effort, but something that would retain the character of the original field/ garden hedge, but that was bullock-proof, as the previous effort was pretty mickey-mouse and the farmers livestock kept getting in the garden of the expensive holiday home.......there is about 7 tonnes of stone in it now..... Not a bad view from the field either....
  15. Love the Buena vista social club, Ibrahim Ferrer esp. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhTE55ek460&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=MLGxdCwVVULXeBYho0VOpdIA2Rf239JW6r]YouTube - Buena Vista Social Club ft Ibrahim Ferrer "Compositor Confundido"[/ame]
  16. As some of you know, I sometimes get asked to bits of stonework- in fact I made most of my living out of it for about 3 years a few years back- and have just rebuilt a stone stile for someone over the last couple of days with my mate. Its totally dry, with a tiny bit of earth for the hedge weeds etc to grow back over, and the very top stones (the spars) have a small mortar bed. The piece of granite poking out to act as a handhold is the top of a 5' tall post we put in....big and strong:thumbup:
  17. Full chisel all the way here. Fast fast fast...just dont cut dirty wood if you can help it! Cant wait to get one for the 200!
  18. You certainly dont.....because you lot who think you are virus free only have to wait until apple get more than their microscopic market share, then all those lovely viruses (which incidentally i have NEVER had on my PC:sneaky2:) will jump down your phonelines and swallow you up on your fancy machines:001_tt2: Fantastic machines if design is important, and you have little or no desire to individualise your machine (email progs etc etc)...or you could just get ibuntu or any other linux based software, and customise it just like apple did....then rebrand it as your own idea:sneaky2:
  19. Only a few times....most notably on a big old sweet chestnut with loads of holes and weirdness- very tolkien-esque tree with a very specific list of what we could do from the T.O.
  20. Sorry- how much?????????????????????????????????? are they really that good? And why?
  21. I agree with stu...ought to be more like half that, or maybe two thirds at most. I have been knocking out sawn larch and douglas for approximately £10-12/ cube, I know another mill was doing it the same, and another local mill for around £16 plus VAT until recently...
  22. Yeah, eurogreen, I think its the same as a pezzolato.
  23. I would rather be tied to the tree any day of the week. Dont trust too much machinery at height TBH, unless it on things like road height clearance, where climbing is just too slow.
  24. Sound- catch you at the weekend mate.
